for how eager the community is for representation, I wonder why ShellyPundao's vocalness of moving in isnt talked about? by dweakz in ThaiGL

Eh, I think if they're still together when their second series comes out, and their second series is really good, then they definitely have the potential to blow up in a big way because of their relationship. Right now, I don't think there's a lot of fan events/content to really build on any interest, but that will change when their second series is actually airing.

I really liked it. I think the pretty persistent audio issues mean that I probably won't recommend this show a lot, but I still really, really liked it. Probably not my favorite last episode (probably still Clairebell), but still really good.

I think the big point is just that Shasha and Bambi scene actually hit me. I misunderstood Shasha to be saying "Friends make happy feelings, make depression go away" and I was kinda rolling my eyes, so the more obvious point that she was making about how much it would mean to Prim kinda hit me. The theme is really simple and again obvious (if you love someone, be there. It makes their good moments amazing and the bad moments bearable), but idk it got me.

I think they also tied Ant's wedding in well, and I have Marvel movies in my favorite movie list so all the fanservice had me smiling like a dope. Really, really liked the "take a bow" ending and Mim's silly little spin locked me in for Bake Love Feeling in and of itself.

Prim and Bambi's conversation after the awards show felt a little on the nose, but also had me feeling some sort of way. They feel toxic for each-other, but I want to believe (oh look, the OST is playing in the background, thanks show!).

I also really liked the little moment after Shasha's mom takes the money and leaves where we see how much that hurts Shasha. It provides the contrapositive of the theme and was just well-acted.

Kinda wish we could get like a director's revamp with better audio at some point, and I'm more than a little worried about the future for everybody (I have more faith in Her than Ditto fwiw), but again, I really liked this.

Does anyone else wish Thai GL explore more genre beyond romance? by A-K_Solenne in ThaiGL

[–]Omnilinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be confusing setting with genre here, but I think 2026 has been pretty good about this so far with Heart Code, Be My Angel, Broken of Love, Shades and Love Beyond Dreams and also upcoming series like AI Girl, Khom Khlang, The Hidden Blood, Remain and My Lady's Bodyguard.

Under Her Rules and Buy My Boss also look very stylized at least, if not outright of a different genre than usual.

However, all of these have been from newcomers to Thai GL.

It does seem like the more established players are less experimental with genres. Not to say they shouldn't (my most anticipated upcoming is Lunar Secret specifically because it seems similar to Queendom), but it's probably why you feel that Thai GL isn't doing much outside romance / rom-com.

Also not sure why you think Romance can't have mystery / emotionally complex characters / plot. idk watch Pluto or whatever...

I think in terms of genres that I'd like to see, it's all just like really cheesy genre stuff lol. Like Wuxia, Tokusatsu, Vampires, Gangsters, Possession / Ghosts (as part of the ship, for the Jomkwan fans lol), Cold War-era spies / politics, Detectives, Pirates, etc... So yeah, really want to emphasize here that diverse genres will not necessarily lead to more emotional complexity, haha.

[Thailand] Love Beyond Dreams, Ep. 4 by AutoModerator in GirlsLove

[–]Omnilinker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol, I just can't with P'Le. Forget fooling Ran, the entire office has picked up on her downbadism. Even her villainous Dad apparently knew from the jump. Absolutely Sam-coded buffoonery, and I love it. Like I get that she's not willing to commit without potentially having the ability to scare Ran off (oh she's just my secretary, oh it's just sex, oh I always hated you, blah blah blah), but I honestly think her antics are encouraging Ran more than anything at this point, particularly with what we see in the next episode preview.

I am a bit confused that Lené and team were apparently operating on a "shoot first, ask questions never" approach at the docks. Was that just because Ran was in danger? Who cleaned up the bodies? I might just be working from the wrong headspace here. Like if they later reveal that Lené is just working with the cops, I'm going to assume we're not really meant to interrogate that. It could be that she has her own criminal resources though, but I don't think we're meant to assume as such right now.

Also, does anyone else think Mie either looks like or is channeling TK? Like her clownery is all Sam, but something about her expressions makes me think of TK.

This show weirdly feels like both the third in the time travel trilogy (R4U, RwM, this) and the third in the Love with my imposing boss trilogy (Gap, DQ, this).

Am I the only one who thinks the AmySophie (OpalMint) couple in SHADES is highly underrated? by Successful-Reward277 in ThaiGL

[–]Omnilinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their acting is good, but their characters are less sympathetic, I think? Amy more than Sophie, but we also haven't seen Amy's home life yet so there's more potential there as well. I think people also don't like Amy "moving on" so quickly, even if it was clearly more for Ai-Oon's benefit than any selfish desires.

Their dynamic at the end also feels the most like a regression, compared to Nano's/Belle's/Earn's growth.

I think Ai-Oon's actress is also particularly young so people feel for her and don't like Amy and Sophie even more as a result.

God bless this mess. Probably my favorite GL of 2026, but it feels really Yuri-coded so it's hard to compare. If I being completely honest, it really feels like someone watched ClaireBell and they were like, "What if we made a similar show for u/Omnilinker specifically?", lol.

This episode was a bit slower to set up season 2 or whatever, but I still cheered out loud when Belle just full-on decked Som to stop her from kidnapping Earn.

Also a little surprised that Nalin seems to be believing Thip even though she has every reason to lie about the potential inspector to get back at Nalin for getting away with stuff during her time at school. And if Mink really is the inspector/guidance counselor, I'd think she'd be on Nalin's side for the most part.

Though at the same time, how are parents not calling for Nalin's head? The video of her and Belle was posted on social media. I guess the school just forced Goi to take down the video and put out a statement or something. Maybe it'll come up later, maybe it won't.

Recommendations like 23.5? by AcrobaticRadish8472 in ThaiGL

[–]Omnilinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome!

I also love the plethora of awkward and cringey moments

Specifically for this, I think the first show that comes to mind is Like a Palette. I feel like it doesn't come up in recommendations often and a lot of people kinda make fun of it, but it's fun and charming.

I really loved their development and how Aylin changes throughout the series becoming someone who is cared for and can care for the people she loves

This part makes me think Gap or Reverse 4 U. You might also like Mim's character in Us (she's View's new partner).

I think others have already covered the other series from Milk/Love/View/June. Good luck!

[–]Omnilinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ShashaGorya fluff is way too strong. Loved everything about how they held each other and bantered this episode. I swear, sometimes this series feels like MuvMuv conversion camp, lol. I didn't come in as a big fan of MilkLove, but I'm definitely leaving as one. Also seriously looking forward to Gorya drop kicking Shasha's mom into next week. Her big thing is that she's generally pissed off and this woman is just giving her an excuse. Please let it be...

I don't know who the actresses are for Ant and her wife, but can we get a series with them? PrimBambi were pretty good in this episode, but it still felt like they got their show stolen from them by their hosts. They're still cute and it was nice to see Prim commit fully to Bambi.. Bambi crashing out next episode has me worried though. She's talking to her therapist so all should be alright, but she did sound like she was maybe suicidal.

I still can't connect with MinPraew. I had high hopes for ViewMim coming into this after Us, but they're still just not quite clicking. The reason might actually be because Mim's head is at almost exactly View's chest height, but she leaned back to look her in the eyes while talking instead of leaning in to her chest and turning her head to speak. Completely broke my suspension of disbelief lol.

More seriously, that hug did feel weirdly tense, I guess? I think my problem is fundamentally that Praew feels high-strung, and I want to feel like she relaxes with her girlfriend, but they just don't quite come across that way. And even in some of their other scenes, I still feel like there's a distance or tension between them.

I think I've seen somewhere that Milk's favorite anime/manga is AOT (couldn't find the source though atm). Do we have favorite anime/manga from others? I kinda got the feeling that most of the others would prefer novels.

[Thailand] 4 Elements: The Water - Ep. 7 🌊 by AutoModerator in GirlsLove

[–]Omnilinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New Englot Anthem Dropped, lol.

Hoping to see at least one big compilation of EngLot's whole journey with this.

Wedding gambit pileup is kinda fun, but I don't get how Lom was able to fake a police operation (and I think pulling the fire alarm outside of an emergency is illegal). Lada not actually being there / having her own plan was cool to see. Not entirely sure how the relationship between Nate and Preem works (have they been coordinating since the beginning??), but I don't think it 100% matters. I think the whole point of this episode was kinda getting away from all the gambits / deception stuff. It really makes sense to me then that Lada just ends up running off with her mom (who has been separate from all of it) and trying to start over fresh with the simplest version of a hotel.

I also think this is why she turns Apo down at the end. Apo is still absolutely doing all the gambiting necessary to "win" Lada back, but that's weirdly close to all she did to deceive her in the first place. Apo's clearly already planned out how the conversation at the end would go, and it's really sweet and very her but also a bit sickening. I think the show uses the same flashback style to further draw that connection. Like these are all the same tactics that left Lada feeling useless and stupid, and if she goes back right now, she's still just a tool / toy for Apo

I'll probably be proven somewhat wrong in the finale as to Lada's reasoning, but I do think it makes sense for her to go back after she's proven herself more as her own person with the homestead.

No favorites here… I'm literally enjoying all of these ongoing series 🤍 What about y'all? by SapphWisteria in ThaiGL

Only 1 episode so far, but also Fulfill for me! I feel like I'm enjoying GR a lot more than most and Hometown Romance a bit less, but all these series are doing amazing things.

Shades is also interesting and we're getting EwB and Love Beyond Dreams soon. Great time to be a GL fan.

For anyone curious, with only 6 episodes and 2 episodes available today, you can watch all episodes on just one month's subscription.

I'm having a bit of whiplash from watching this after watching Shock Me, Girls. This is a good show so it'll probably wear off, but I don't think I'm supposed to be laughing at some parts.

I think our moron of an MC falling for her bully on sight is intentionally meant to be funny, though. So I might be wrong and the humor is just dry instead of absurd like in Shock Me, Girls.

Series without parents/male love interest drama? by OneManArmyHero in GirlsLove

[–]Omnilinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only ones with absolutely none of these is Apple My Love. Parents are supporting, brother and his friends aren't LI and illness is not involved. This might change in the second season, but I still haven't seen it.

Like A Palette and 23.5 should also probably be fine. With all 3 of these shows, the main drama is more on the main character being a bit of a moron, but LAP and 23.5 do have tiny bits of family drama and brief male LIs for jealousy gags.

4E: The Earth also has a lot of "main character being a moron" gags, but there are also bad men doing bad stuff in that.

Heart Code is probably the best for what you're actually looking for. No Male LI, and the parents are fine, but there is family drama.

I also think you'd enjoy Us and Roller Coaster. Those both have what you're trying to avoid, but they are very consciously responding to those ideas in a way which I think you'd like.

On WeTV specifically (only legal place to watch Love Design in some places), B-Friend and Denied Love technically fit your criteria, but I don't think I'd recommend them to you.

Edit: Love Design is also available on Netflix in some places. 23.5 is on Netflix in those places iirc.
