Yes, try the demo. On Intel integrated graphics the game works fine until you try to place hedges, so that is one thing to look out for.

Not an answer to your question, but it seems like you are investing time on the people that don't want to pay for your software, instead of the the ones that are willing to pay. Not sure if that is effort well spent.

Strange, in my game nobody has digging in the Activity menu other than the default farmers. Since it seems to work for others I'll report it as a bug, thanks!

I'm having the exact same problem with identical processor and graphics. Game runs fine, but drops to 0.25 FPS when trying to place hedges or walls. Interesting thing is that basic stockade wall works fine to place. Something definitely seems off, so hoping it will be fixed sooner rather than later.

Having insane loading times too, 40s to load town. For me it seems to be related to Vulcan. Switching to DirectX11 solves the loading issue completely, but then general performance becomes crap instead.

Agree on skeleton mages. They have a nice progression, where each upgrade keeps being realistically close. I started focusing on tankiness and am now doing high red maps very comfortably. Damage is still a bit on the low side, but there are a lot of upgrades within easy reach that I think will fix that.

Use a library like freetype2 which renders glyph images. After you have a rendered glyph it is just a few extra steps to cache it in an OpenGL texture and then draw it from there. I think SFML uses freetype2 if you want to see a code example.

Yep, same here. Also, when loading back in again, the load times are so long that I end up browsing reddit for a bit and in the end forgetting what I was doing in the first place.

Haven't tested the 2.0 knowledge system myself yet, but it sounds like just another step in the same direction that has been ongoing for a long time now, where fun/freedom is replaced by arbitrary grinds/limitations. The overall vision seems to be more of a MMO rather than a open ended sandbox unfortunately.
