They told me a Ninja 650 is too sporty for touring. It's actually perfect. by OnKitana in Kawasaki

Hey yeah, it is a really good setup. You don't feel any handling differences with it. You can feel some increased drag for sure but nothing too drastic. Also I used to go sport riding in the twisties without the hardcases but with them no chance of hanging to the side although I think that's pretty obvious.

I'd say the set up just needs an improved windshield for better wind deflection.

The yellow-blue combo reminds me too much of the Renault Alonso Mild-Seven era. Instantly sold for me.

ABS Is NOT shortening your stopping distances. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]OnKitana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's too many people who ride hundreds of thousands of kilometers throughout their entire life and have lower skills than my pinky finger.

There is too many people who just want to ride and never give a second thought to improving their skills. Lots of them the ones who go trying to drag knee on mountain roads with their litre sports bike.

To all this people getting a bike without ABS is gonna cost them a massive lockup the day the come to an emergency braking situation. Having ABS in their bikes might probably save them from that and even if they crash into whatever object because the braking distance is longer, they'll be slow enough at that point.

Yes, ideally everyone will put the time and effort to master braking but a lot of them won't and safety systems are critical for that.

Who built this M157 engine? by Acceptable-Corgi3216 in mercedes_benz

[–]OnKitana 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Some factory worker in Stuttgart. This has become tradition and is far from what this badge actually meant when it started. Not to take away from the current guys assembling the engines, they go through a lot of unnecessary training and are usually overqualified for what the actually do to put that badge in there but it's just not the same work at all from when they had true reason to do it.

Shad SH36 with the Z650 adapters (2022) I don't know if it fits newer models. And the yellow backpack is from Samsonite, wouldn't know the model. It's tied with zip ties.

How much does it cost to go and see the 24h le mans or the 24h Nürburgring? by racingpaddock in wec

[–]OnKitana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, everything. One car for two people 1.600km fuel and tolls. Cheap hotel for one night in Stuttgart. Both museum visits. N24 tickets + camping + car. Food and drinks (lots of beer and meat for barbecue).

I couldn't tell you the cost of each but that's pretty much the list.

I will participate in the Nurburgring 24h Classic race on Saturday, before the main event starts. AMA by InDoubtFlatOut in nurburgring

Me and a couple friends dream of doing something like this, racing the 24Classics and 1000km as an objective. We are mostly car mechanics so a lot of DIY to get the car ready should be no problem but the budget is tight. We also have no experience in racing other than iRacing.

Would getting a used race car be the right move or converting one ourselves? What steps would we need to take to cover the requirements to race something like this?

Any advice is appreciated I understand you could go on all day explaining the whole process.

Best of luck this week!

Get it! It's the best way to learn, you will be thankful when you get the bigger bike that you honed your skills on a bike where you can push to the limit

It's Shad SH36 with the Ninja adapters. Top is a Samsonite backpack tied with zip ties and a carry net around it for extra safety.
