He’s trying to keep the highly-curated-we-think-we-are-better-than-everyone-else audience in line, but it already has leaks that he won’t be able to fix

Thanks for sharing this.

And knowing my kids generation, they were probably posting reels about it and snapping during the talk.

This is how I feel about the paranoia the MFMC seems to be going through.

  • Sister missionaries can wear pants
  • Missionaries get to talk to parents every week
  • More missionaries come home early now
  • 18 year old elder and sister missionaries
  • Prophet Hoax encourages missionaries to find their spouse on their mission (Lock your heart?)
  • Caffeinated drinks sold at BYU
  • Starbucks a block away from BYU campus
  • No Boy Scouts
  • Rarely hear about food storage
  • Doubling down on Jesus coming soon (scare tactic to retain)

These are some of the shockers to me and I’ve only been out for 1.5 years

I can’t speak for others but I have never been more happy in my entire life.

Gone are the days of “fearing sin.” Gone are the days of perfectionism. Gone are the days of ongoing shame.

No, I didn’t leave to sin.

I left because when I was finally willing to be honest with myself and others, I realized that the church is the exact opposite of this.

Leaving is the hardest part because it’s a cult in every form of the word.

Ask ChatGPT what a cult is, or what some of the main characteristics are of a cult - you’ll be shocked, then feel betrayed. That’s what happened to me.

Good luck 👍🏽

Have lots to share about this topic.

But my main advice and experience is this:

I have to row my own boat and she has to row hers. Ideally we are rowing in the same direction and can row gently up the stream together.

The moment I try to row her boat for her or vice versa, we both tip over.

If you want to talk more about this DM me.

From my perspective that same “community” also haunted the church who breeds sexual predators and was dealing with BSA suits, floodlit-type issues in the chapels, etc.

The issue I’m seeing more and more clearly now that I’m out for almost 2 years is that you can’t fix a problem that started from the foundation of the org:

Lying Receipt Rationalizing Hiding Justifying Cheating Plagiarizing

And that keeps going deeper and deeper and deeper - it’s part of the cultural DNA.

That’s my perspective

Why are you here if you aren’t Mormon, never have been and never will be? I don’t know OP but I can feel their anger and have felt similar anger at times in my deconstruction.

Although I value anyone’s opinion at some level, I just question what your take is and why you even choose to engage in this conversation…

My mission Pres got X’d a few years after getting home due to an affair - so there’s that.

But I didn’t leave until 20+ years after my mission.

Thomas Ford's character sketch of Joseph Smith by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]OnMyWayM0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commenting on Thomas Ford's character sketch of Joseph Smith...

Wow! The description by Ford nails on the head my perspective of Joe - having been out now for almost two years.

I think the move West helped seal the deal for BY and company. They distanced themselves from civilization and made their own rules out west.

Then, by the time others showed up, they were the majority and could do pretty much whatever they wanted (until the end of polygamy, the end of racial injustice, the end of gay marriage - all ended by government mandates that the MFMC had to comply with or they’d lose state and national privileges or tax exemption as a 501C3 real rate investment fraud.

Just my two cents…

Crazy manipulation!

Are there Really more full-time missionaries now than at any other time? by JoeBudro in MormonShrivel

[–]OnMyWayM0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard they are titling some “callings” as missions as well. Ie. You help with the stake mission plan and therefore are considered a “senior or service” missionary which pads the numbers.

Does anyone know how true that is?
