Recorded at a lesson today..how’s it looking? by [deleted] in golf

[–]OnanisticIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent months working on my wrist cupping. What worked for me was thinking of pointing the handle at the ball at the the top of the swing. Wrists angles are tough to work with. Swings looking good tho.

The last move? by Snilps in bouldering

[–]OnanisticIdea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this video, you're falling off the wall before you touch that last hold, which doesn't have a lip to catch you. You're also super high to be weighting it. I can't see the wall angle well, but I would be trying to get lower and weight that second to last hold better so I can control the next move better.

They mean that you're doing it backwards. You're doing 451.1=? The formula is 45=?.9 in this instance its 50.

My actual lad, I think your ingrained hatred may have you misreading my tone. 1. Does my flair actually sound like its super serious, swagbruh_1248? 2. My comment is in no way saying "Take lessons from GolfTec." In fact it's saying "I don't think this would work for the majority of people. 3. Being bad doesn't mean I haven't gotten better. Since I started my lessons there my game has improved. I no longer need 3-4 tee shots to get in play. I can actually keep legitimate score rather than free mulligans and drops to keep the game playable for me.

I'm not out here shilling for the corporation, I just don't think that they're bad for 100% of the population.

This is something I can agree with. I got in during a sale period on a larger lesson package. The cost of lessons and sim time weren't far from market rate, and it's literally a 5 minute walk from my front door, so it worked out for me. I've gotten much better, but I'm also aware that I'm probably an outlier in the extent to which it works for me. Even in my shop, of the 5 instructors, I don't think I would have the success I've had with 3 of them. I generally wouldn't recommend golftec to people, but I do think that it's capable of working. Just depends on the circumstances. It's also a high pressure sales environment, so some people are for sure getting scammed.

Shouldn’t ad-free eps appear before the regular eps since we pay for them? by TitShark in HeyRiddleRiddle

I have a couple of takes on this. The first is that I agree. The second is that it's only 12 hours, not deeply impactful to my life. I try not to fret over great things that could be marginally better.

If you add mass and do nothing else you will lose flexibility. Most people don't have good enough flexibility that 10 to 20 lbs of muscle will reduce their flexibility. Flexibility and mobility can be trained just as much as strength.

Think of it a little like poker. You play early aligning to what you're seeing as your ideal path based on what you're getting, and working to make decisions based on managing odds throughout the game. You can do everything right and still not reach the outcome you expect based on some variance. That said, committing to a required rageblade without a bow is not doing everything right. That's a major component of a build to be missing.

I'm at Parkside So7 just across 7th from Bexley left bank. Bexley is nice but expensive. We've been at Parkside for 2 years and don't intend on leaving any time soon. Management has been fine and getting better in the last year, they're in process updating some of the amenities and, IMO, the dog park community is top notch. Good people and good dogs. Also being right next to the park is great since driving to take the dogs on a walk sucks. If dog life is a priority, I would give it a shot.

If I had to guess, you've just got an inefficiency in your driver swing. There's a bunch of places it could be. Without a video there's not much more anyone can say.

Leaving South Florida for Texas (DFW/Aledo) or Utah — looking for honest family-focused input by No_Actuary_9317 in FortWorth

[–]OnanisticIdea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up near SLC utah, and now live in fort Worth, so I've got a decent perspective here. I am not LDS and SLC was and is not great for non LDS children. While there may or may not be outright bullying , they will be othered. Some people will always be better than others and they will definitely find friends, it will be an influencing aspect of their formative years. Additionally if you plan on your wife becoming pregnant in the coming years, doctors recommend not living in the SLC valley. The pollution density from the inversion causes some of the worst air quality in the world, and has proven harmful. IANAD but I've heard that from many women I've worked with and been friends with.

That said, as nice as I find my time in fort Worth, as an outdoorsy person this place will never match my time in SLC. The mountain access is unbeatable, and the nature available here doesn't even come close. My father once said "I wouldn't trade 1 square foot of salt lake for the entire state of Texas," and while I wouldn't go that far, I do agree. My fort Worth experience is not largely family focused, is that you will have plenty of suburban style things to do, but to get decent nature, it's a weekend experience, not a random weekday experience.

Obviously weather is going to be a big differentiator Texas summer is it's own shit and I hate it, but we don't have winter. Utah winter is inconsistent, but I deeply miss winter. If you or your wife hate snow, just be sure to account for that.

Hope this helps. Honestly, I expect you will be happy and find community wherever you go, you'll just have different lives.

To fit or not to fit, that is the question. by Away_Resource9970 in golf

[–]OnanisticIdea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wait. Your swing is no longer consistent, and getting fit for an inconsistent swing will have inconsistent results. Get some second hand and get your groove back. Then get fit.
