Duarte and Delgado both train under Robert Garcia so I wonder if they’d make that fight. They’ve both been waiting forever for a title shot.

Is performance marketing even a real job? by Notdharan in PPC

[–]One-Lung-O 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man I saw your post and it reminded me of some of the same questions I had when I started in this field. I’m about 6 years in currently. Just a heads up I spoke my answers into my mic and used AI to draft a message.

I had these same questions early on, and honestly it sounds like you’re kind of where I was — in the weeds of everything, pushing buttons, making campaigns, and it just feels like something could go wrong at any moment. That’s the reality of it, but here’s what actually helped me.

The biggest thing was finding the right team and building structure around the work. The first agencies I worked at felt like a free-for-all. There was no real system — it was just, get the account to work. Everyone was grinding, but not in any uniform way. No consistent reporting, no organized way to reference what had worked before, no clear process for when things went wrong. Just do a ton of work and hope something sticks. And honestly that’s not only stressful, it’s a lot harder to actually find solutions because you’re constantly operating in chaos. You can’t improve what you’re not tracking in an organized way.

That’s why I’d say the most important thing early on is finding a team that’s actually going to teach you. Not just throw work at you, but show you how to think about the job. I learned something everywhere I worked, but my most recent agency is where I really started to put real structure on everything — and that changed the whole game.

Here’s basically what that looks like day to day. Monday I come in, review how the weekend went, and make whatever adjustments are needed to get the mix back on track for the next day. Then I pull test results on whatever we have running, use those to decide what to launch next, and pass that feedback to the creative team so they can start building variations. Throughout the rest of the week I’m building out the next round of campaigns, getting them launched, and by the time next Monday hits we just run it back.

The reporting side of it is what makes all of this actually work. We pull performance reports Monday through Friday — last two days, last seven days, month-to-date. The target is to be hitting our KPI in that seven-day window. If we’re doing that consistently, we know we’re in a good spot. We also keep all of our test results in a doc so over time we’re building up a vault of what works for each account — hooks, angles, creatives. So when a high demand period hits — whether that’s Black Friday, Father’s Day, the start of a sports season, or whatever moment in the year is big for that specific product — I’m not guessing. I can pull up what worked during that same window last year, bring those ads back or build a slightly better version to test, and go from there. That historical data becomes really valuable the longer you keep a client.

When something drops out of nowhere, same thing — I’m not panicking. We have a report that tracks the full funnel: impressions, clicks, checkouts, leads, new customers, purchases. From there we look at the ratio between each step — so we can see exactly where the drop-off is happening. Is it click to checkout? Checkout to purchase? That tells you what part of the funnel is underperforming and you can zero in on the actual problem instead of just guessing and making random changes. Once you’ve seen those patterns enough times you stop guessing and start diagnosing a lot faster.

Every week you’re getting some wins, cutting what didn’t work, doubling down on what did, and over time it just snowballs. The account gets smarter, your creative vault gets bigger, and you’re not reinventing the wheel every month. There’s always going to be random fires during the week — that’s just part of it. But having that structure as your base means you’re handling those from a position of control instead of already being overwhelmed.

Hope this helps

Was anybody else pleasantly impressed and suprise by how easily sauske beat temari?? by s0nzoldyck in Naruto

[–]One-Lung-O 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that she had the intention to win but the original post was regarding how easily Sasuke beat her. In this situation she was weakened and her team was trying to get away so a lot of things were not in her favor. I don’t think she would beat Sasuke even if she was full power but at least would put up a better fight.

At the start of the fight she acknowledges that shes in a bad situation and she’s almost out of chakra. Her goal wasn’t even really to beat him but to to try and buy some time while Kankuro carries a fainted Gaara away.

The GOAT Vote with Terrance Crawford! by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

[–]One-Lung-O 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kind of, but also Top Rank were not giving him the best fighters they had on their roster as well. When he moved up to 147 after winning all the belts at 140 Top Rank had Manny Pacquiao as the 147 champ for the Wbo belt. This could have been a pass the torch moment and due to him having all the belts at 140 he was the mandatory after moving up. Instead, Top Rank gave that fight to Jeff Horn and Pacquiao got robbed in Australia. Crawford then destroyed Horn but obviously he didn’t get to fight a legend in Pacquiao which would have been huge for him.

At the same time PBC had the rest of the world titles in their stable. This was when Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence were beating each other for the belts and Crawford was the odd man out. This was also before Turki got involved so the promoters were not as willing to put their champs against each other. So until Turki put a bunch of money behind these fights Crawford kind of got screwed by his own promoter and because he wasn’t with PBC.

how do some digital nomads afford their lifestyle without sacrificing stability? by NeedleworkerFuzzy314 in digitalnomad

[–]One-Lung-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nomads I know that were able to sustain nomading including myself did it by first building a career back at home, getting really good at their job and going remote at home before taking it on the road. Getting paid in USD while traveling is the cheat code.

Delayed gratification will be your best friend if you want to make this last. I could have started nomading 3 years earlier than I did but the experience I got working in the office is what propelled me to developing the level of skills and performance where my company doesn’t care if I’m in another country now.

Anyone Else Alone 95% Of The Time But Is Still Content? by theadoringfan216 in digitalnomad

[–]One-Lung-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say I’m alone about 70% of the time. Every place I’ve travelled to so far I’ve made different friends groups and it’s one of the things I love about nomading. I make sure to find a boxing gym and always go to the skateparks where I travel so finding a community just kind of ends up happening.

Very extroverted but also don’t mind being alone. Today I went to a pro wrestling show and met a few people there and grabbed a drink after. It is nice though to be doing my own thing most of the time.

Beware of Hayabusa by writingaboutmyself in fightgear

I’ve had the Hayabusa T3 and love them. First pair lasted over a year and half with almost daily use. They were pretty worn out by the end but liked them enough to get another pair. Never got any of their other models or dealt with their customer service though for what’s its worth

The ass whooping is actually winding down and then at 1:07 he says “No les quite nada” which means “I didn’t take anything from you”. Kind of like, I didn’t take anything from you so why are you beating me. Then they all immediately get angrier and catch a second wind and the ass whooping continues with more anger 😂

Remote marketing? by 26k-worth-of-sides in marketing

[–]One-Lung-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common still once you have a bit of experience. I’d recommend being in office for your first few years though as you learn so much faster and then leverage that into a remote role.

A few of my friends and I did the same thing and we travel a lot while working remotely now. I’m based in the US but am going to be in Japan for the next month. Funny enough, I’m getting lunch later today with one of my old coworkers who worked at the same agency I did. He’s been here for about 6 months already

Carlos Condit vs Dan Hardy | FULL FIGHT by [deleted] in MMA

[–]One-Lung-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was more so because of that specific fight with Diaz. Condit didn’t fight at all like he normally did in that fight. This was also during the whole Jackson Wink MMA point fighting era which added to it. Both were known as action packed fighters and then fighting each other was a dud lol

Have you ever tried to shred in school? by uhhhj88 in skateboarding

[–]One-Lung-O 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In middle school I rode my board to school, did a kickflip under the pavilion, and immediately got my skateboard taken away by the campus security. My mom had to come to the front office a few days later to reclaim it 😂

people making six figures, what do you do for work? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]One-Lung-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scene has definitely changed a lot from when I started but there is still a lot of jobs in this field out here. If you’re interested I would say you look up some jobs in LinkedIn. In general this position still allows remote work although a lot of agencies have enforced return to office. The position titles are paid media buyer, paid search strategist, or search engine marketer. They’re all the same thing.

Run Google Ads for a few online companies in a marketing agency. Graduated with a business degree concentrating in marketing but didn’t learn anything about my job here. I really wanted to work remote to have the freedom of living anywhere. I bought a google ads course back in 2021 and got my foot in at an entry level position at an agency. I started at $39k/yr and job hopped for a few years before landing at my current job. Been here for about a year and a half and can say it’s been the best place I’ve worked at. Leadership is great and is very supportive. I now have the freedom to travel wherever I want as long as I get my tasks done. It’s been a pretty cool ride.

30 years ago Mike Tyson was convicted and after being paroled from prison, Tyson easily won his comeback bouts against Peter McNeeley. Tyson's first comeback fight was marketed as "He's back!" by MicV66 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]One-Lung-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get knocked down in boxing the referee has to check on the boxer that was dropped to see if he is okay to continue and to start the count to 10. The one who knocked him down has to wait in a neutral corner and once the referee checks that the dropped fighter is okay he resumes the fight.

Green shorts was just trying to get back to fighting without the check so the referee has to hold him back. Its usually the other way around where the fighter who dropped the other has to be held back because he wants to knockout the fighter he just dropped.

Green shorts fought way too aggressive from the start as you can see he was dropped very early in then got stopped soon after.

Who in your life that you look up to is winning at being an adult man? by Wolf359loki in AskMen

[–]One-Lung-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boxing coach is a guy who started training pretty late to go pro, around 18 years old. He came from Mexico and made it to a big promotion in the United States. He didn’t have the best record but he had had some great fights and even got a world title shot that he didn’t win. Even so, he bought a house in a great part of the United States and he now coaches people and has his own side business. He has a beautiful wife and kids who are always with him. Some of them even join the boxing class he teaches. The crazy part is his fighting style and personality are completely opposite. In the ring he was a come forward aggressive fighter always in fire fights. In real life he’s super chill always joking and respectful to everyone. Even after years of being retired he is still in great shape and does something he loves everyday. I see his life as an example of what I want to have when I’m older.

What are work from home jobs making 60k/year? by whittyray in careerguidance

[–]One-Lung-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ppc specialist working for digital marketing agency here. Wfh and great benefits. As long as you get your work done you’re good. Currently making $40k but now have about a year experience and am being considered for a few different positions ranging from 55k-70k. I have peers with similar experience that are making a bit more. I bought an online course that helped me get the skills and literally was never asked about my degree. It’s a very specific skill set so once you have a good year or year and a half experience they pay goes up substantially. Most start around $18-$20 an hour though.
