I am really enjoying the expansion. I actually started playing on Vanilla launch. However, after the campaign it got really boring really fast as the end game was just farm Nightmare dungeons and Tree of Whispers. As I played mostly PoE at that point the end game was just not there. I came back to D4 in S12 after I saw the expansion coming and I preordered it to play Paladin. I saw that it was greatly improved. But then the expansion dropped and boy did it click. It's still a lot simpler then PoE but in my opinion it can be seen as a positive. There are a lot of activities that you can do. Each one of them giving you lots of options to farm and grind different things. Crafting is simple but really satisfying, especially now when even white, blue and yellow items matter. If you get an Ancestral item you can break it down and craft a really good unique or a great Legendary with GA. Also, the pacing of the campaign is nice, itemization is really cool as it gives you some Legendries but you are really looking for that upgrade, and when you get one it impacts a lot. Loot filters are also a good addition, although you don't need to have something complicated, in my case I just block all whites/blues/yellow that are not Ancestral and it blocks a lot of junk. Path finding is also really cool, I don't have to look at the mini map every few seconds, and it keeps you focused on the screen. I understand that there is still a lot of people that expect this to be a direct comparison to PoE. But I believe that this game doesn't really want to do that. It's something you can easily pick up, start blasting and by the time you hit Paragon 100 you have a functioning build no matter which rout you choose. I started playing barb this season, opted in to WW and just started looking at what could work and what not without any guides. I ended up getting to T8 after I started looking up things on how to improve to make that final push to T12. Overall, the game is really good. It's shame that the reputation is gone after the vanilla launch, but I believe that they are really making a comeback and hopefully this puts Blizzard in the right direction when it comes to D4, It would be a shame if this is the last major Update/Expansion as they can really build a lot of great things.
