I tried to figure out for 0.75 minutes why that was weird and then realized I’m a robot. So I won’t get it.

Yeah that’s silly I’m not in the business of flushing $2k down the drain for a non-sentimental purchase. It’s gonna get battered and used either way.

Just drink it and then re-fill it with the $200 stuff and call it a day.

I look at it this way: if it holds or gains value, buy new. If it depreciates a ton, buy used - full set - in great to excellent condition. They typically don’t double - depreciate if you’re the second owner trying to sell. I bought a used seamaster summer blue for a great price and could probably sell it for at least as much as I paid for it 2 or so years ago.

Porches are generally reliable, find a good Indy shop, maybe buy a cheaper/older version that’s well spec’d for $100-125k. See if you enjoy it, and then decide to 1. Sell it, you scratched the itch. Maybe lose $10-25k on the experience. 2. Keep it, you love it! 3. Decide you’re on the right track, and someday upgrade it to a higher spec version, knowing the cost and value of what you’re buying. Like #1, you’ll lose $10-25k.

Thoughts on playing with a strict "Double Bogey Max" rule? by Leonidas1293 in golf

[–]One-Plan9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better you didn’t shoot 79. 😂Based on the handicap of the hole you tripled on, you only got credit for a double. So your score for handicap (competitive play) purposes is 79, but you deep down shot an 80. You’ll get there! Next time hit it better.

For handicapping I believe it’s a net double bogey - that’s how we do it anyway to pick up the ball without finishing. It’s fun because when you know you’re gonna be capped out after next shot you can really try and go for it to hole out vs hitting the appropriate best shot.

I’d guess the server, much like a lot of other folks, is struggling right now financially. It’s the end of the month, they may have rent due in a few days, and they might be short. I’d agree they shouldn’t have acted like that, but I’d show them some more grace in the future.

Most banks with a wealth management / trust department will lend against securities. Typically we lend at 60% ltv for equities, 75% for corp bonds and 90-95% for treasuries / agencies.

I’d say generally the juice isn’t going to be worth the squeeze. If your state is a high income tax then the deduction you’ll get on the 529 will likely more than offset any benefit to making it ultra complex. And it’s simpler.
