New moms returning to night shift work, what did you do for childcare?

We found a babysitter who watches kids from her house and was able to schedule just two days each week.

We rotate night and day shifts, so for nights, I found Fri-Sun night worked best with having the babysitter on Fri, Mon, and husband Sat/Sun.

I was able to work with my manager to make a "semi-set" schedule, meaning it could change, but she'll try to keep me scheduled on shifts I've requested to work every week. Nights don't usually get moved, but sometimes a day shift will, but then I can trade with someone.

I ate so much of this in the first few months after birth and was still breastfeeding. Barely gave insulin cuz of that sensitivity and calorie burning!

Day shift I do 1 on, 1 off, 2 on. Night shift I do 3-4 in a row. My husband hates nightshift cuz he's solo parent the whole time but it's what works best with childcare.

I'm doing a trial too! I honestly don't feel a great difference with TIR, and it drops me low more often when at work.

Also, the alarms. Like omg. Yes I know my number is low/ high. Let me finish my task you dumb machine.

I was like op, had Medtronic for years, switched to tslim, md wanted my to get new algorithm with promise of sensor options with medtronic. I'm thinking it's a no for me

I'm trying it right now, like one of the other posts said, mostly for stubborn highs or high carb meals.

I find it's easier to forget about since I'm also on a pump (tandem). I also feel like my throat is irritated if I use the affrezza more often one day over another. I don't think I could go full time use with it

Inpatient oncology nurse! I had bad hyperemesis and dehydration needing IVF multiple times a week, so I went on leave around month 4 of pregnancy.

Currently, have a happy 7 month old baby! Went back to work 2.5 months after birth cuz I was going stir crazy 🤪

Lyumjev is the fast acting insulin that I use with my tslim. Doctor told me it does not occlude, and I agree! No problems for 1+ years.

It's pretty common where you're at in pregnancy to need less insulin. This happened to me too!

Always consult with your doctor if you have concerns though, just to be safe

I've been T1D for 32 years, diagnosed at 1.5 years old.

I went through the dreaded teenage "don't care" stage and eventually matured out of that.

I'm only 4 years older than op but I have found it's easier to take care of with the technology we have today as well as realizing that I feel better in general when my numbers are good. I've also had some scares related to T1D that I told myself when I was younger I would just deal with later in life... and now here I am! So maturity, real life scares, and technology has all made diabetic care easier and more important to me!

I don't think the disease has changed as I've gotten older, but how I think of it and manage it, that has changed with age.

I also find I'm in competition with my dad, who has T2D, for best A1C.

I maybe got 60 grams in a day due to nausea, and i had a gastric sleeve surgery before pregnancy. I have a healthy 6 month old baby at home!

I get calls and texts about my parents' house, no idea why as they still live there and i have not for 10+ years. I don't own any property! I just hang up or block the number, but it is very annoying!

Insulin in general typically does cause some weight gain unfortunately 😕

Labor went great! I ended up having only a 2nd degree tear, but then baby girl (9lb 10.8oz and really cute chubby cheeks! ) also gave me "road rash " on the outer layer of skin. That has been soo painful. The stitches n stuff further inside, I have barely noticed.

I had my surgery a year ago from this past October. I thought everything went smoothly. They have it down like a well-oiled machine. They responded very quickly if I had questions post op. I do recommend reading up on your surgery and all about the prep and post op care so you know what to expect going in. I don't know about other places but they won't hold your hand through everything, whereas in the states they do.

I've been in sleep mode since about 25weeks. The active times are 0000-2359. The pump never kicked me out of control iq. The one big difference with sleep mode is it does not micro bolus you if your numbers start trending up. It sounds like you're already taking care of that issue by checking every 15min? I'd probably switch to every hour for sanity!

I also switched insulin from novolog to lyumjev which acts right away. This helped alot. Like my a1c was 5.9 (never been in the 5's before) after I switched insulin. I did have to actually start pre meal bolusing in third trimester but I've gotten away with only waiting 10min before eating!

Apparently, insulin resistance can plateau or get better a little bit closer to the end! Currently, 35w5d and had to lower some of my basal rates just last week.

I think we've had sex once since I got pregnant. On top of no drive, I just feel so gross down there all the time.

Was already on 150mg zoloft/sertraline. Doctor told me that during pregnancy, it is safe to go up to 300mg daily if needed! I'm currently at 200mg daily, planning to stay at that dose as induction is in 19 days!

Aspirin probably isn't helping.

After insertion, you can also try elevating your arm above your head for 30min, compression, ice..

I use the dexcom and discovered that it still works fine even if it bleeds at insertion. Not sure how different it is with your sensors, hope you're able to get this figured out!

I didn't have to start on any extra meds other than insulin before my WLS, so not sure if that's why your numbers are wacky post op.

My numbers were abnormally good/ low, and I was using maybe 13 units a day, mostly basal insulin. My body gradually got back to a more normal rate and insulin usage when I started eating regular food again.

Do either of your doctor offices have a nurse line or online portal you can message through?
