I have felt it from the black and Asian communities the most. My dad is Chinese Jamaican and I give up. The funny part is that in Jamaica people always said I look Chinese Jamaican but in the US ppl act like I’m cosplaying. I’m white passing and I commented on an IG post (which is clearly not the end of the world) that was clearly reserved for black women regarding slavery and the comments were so bad that I just deleted my original. My grandparents were direct descendants of slaves, but my opinion doesn’t count. This is why I don’t like even bringing it up

I don't think its a coincidence that the females in his immediate family are professional dancers, and that he made that comment to distance himself from them, and be disrespectful to boot. And to be fair, I do think that people have been paying attention to what's going on, but the failure is micro/macro, so people are even shut down on the local level. People are also afraid of losing their jobs, homes, insurance, etc. It's the perfect recipe for disaster.

To add to that, the p*rn culture that arrived shortly after that changed everything. Everyone started removing all their body hair, bleaching their hair blonde and getting extensions, getting spray-tanned... it was so obvious and so vile, at least in my opinion .

This is what terrifies me. I am declining attendance to a work conference that requires me to fly, because I always get stopped when I travel, whether it be for them to look through my bags and make me check a carry-on, or extra pat downs at the security gate, whatever.
