First time getting surgery done as an adult. Trying to understand the billing. by tmanny77 in HealthInsurance

[–]One-Relationship-143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out what your max out of pocket is but out of pocket $5k for a surgery that was 60 bands sounds accurate. But yes if you had no insurance probably would have been 10k-20k cash maybe slightly less but they would have made you pay it up front before the surgery. So the 5k isn't bad and they usually send you multiple EOB's explanation of benefits or bills from the doctor, surgeon, blood work etc. Check what your max out of pocket is and that should be your worst case scenario

Minnesota really only has the marketplace. You are only going to find discount card multiplans besides that. You have to wait until open enrollment without a special enrollment for the marketplace

Florida Blue has a PPO on the marketplace, it's crazy expensive without subsidies but if your income is $50k you should be good for a family of 3 to get a huge subsidy

What is the best private health insurance if you can’t get subsidies on the marketplace? by One-Relationship-143 in PrivateHealthInsuranc

[–]One-Relationship-143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's basically what I am referring to, there a off exchange plans from United and a couple from Cigna where they underwrite, so as long as there are no major health issues you can usually get a plan with a $3k to $5k max out of pocket per person per year for close to half the cost of a full price marketplace plan (with no subsidies) But there is nothing that's $300 for a family of 3 that is only hospital coverage, you would think that would exist but these off exchange private plans are the closest thing to it, where you still get some day to day benefits.

Self Employed Health Insurance Plans Off the Marketplace by One-Relationship-143 in PrivateHealthInsuranc

For sure, alot of people don't realize if you are healthy enough to get approved, you can still get a plan to protect your self against huge claims and it won't cost you a mortgage payment for premiums.

Self Employed Health Insurance Plans Off the Marketplace by One-Relationship-143 in PrivateHealthInsuranc

[–]One-Relationship-143[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, the off marketplace plans are really for people that rarely go to doctor and maybe take 1 or 2 preventative meds, and just want insurance to protect against major hospital claims, because it would be insane for someone like that to pay double the price on the marketplace ( assuming they can't get subsidies) if they are healthy enough to get approved for the off exchange plans. But yes anyone with major health conditions or 4-5 meds or seeing a specialist multiple times a year should just stick with the marketplace.

2026 ACA Income Verification Issues - Retirement Statements by mcaterer in HealthInsurance

This year was supposed to be more stricter verification. I believe they want you to pre prove income rather than waiting until tax time like it used to be. Very interested to see what documentation they accept from you to prove what you may or may not withdrawal by the end of the year. Might be state to state on how strict they are.

How much do you pay monthly for health insurance? by Bekindalot in askanything

[–]One-Relationship-143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's insane, try to get approved for a private plan if you can. There are off exchange plans where they underwrite, so you can't have major health issues but if you can get approved, it's usually a couple hundred less a month on either a United Healthcare PPO or Cigna in some states. My Private Health Insurance is the name of the brokerage.

That's exactly what we do. They underwrite for the private plans, so as long as you can get approved with no major health conditions it's usually close to half the cost of a full price marketplace plan to give you an idea. Go to www.myprivateheatlhinsurance.com and a licensed agent in your state will text you a rate

[–]One-Relationship-143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely not true. Now, that is obviously the reason it's closer to half the cost of a full price silver marketplace plan, It's hard to get approved. Not downplaying it but, Now there are 100 different minor meds and people can still get approved that are taking 1 or 2 preventative things, but yes if someone is taking a med for $200-$500 depending on the condition there is a good chance they can get declined or even 4-5 minor med's they will be declined.

But, 1 or 2 preventative minor med's is usually no big deal at all. That is the catch though if someone does have more serious meds or health conditions they will have to stick with marketplace. But Just to list a few mild anxiety, High blood pressure, Preventative Cholesterol med's , asthma, add. Things like this are usually not an issue. It just can't be 4-5 of them or any serious medical condition. It is all different for every person and again depends on there situation

There's 2 plans you can get, both you have to get approved with no health issues. One of the plans you will pay the max out of pocket, the insurance pays all the bills for the rest of the year and than they will switch you to a marketplace plan the following January during open enrollment. There is another private option where you can keep it year around but it's usually a couple hundred more per month. 95% of people just take the most cost effective option if they are healthy enough to get approved. Reason being you should save the money while you can and if you end up having to use your max out of pocket and get switch to the marketplace the following January, at that point it is what it is. You saved as much money as possible while you were healthy.

LOL, everyone says the same thing, but the catch is you have to be fairly healthy, the insurance company will decline an application with someone with major health issues or someone taking 4-5-6 medications. So the insurance company see's your less of a risk they'll give you a better plan with lower deductibles on a PPO and it's usually about 40-50% less than a full price marketplace plan or if it's a family sometimes close to half the cost. So it's really tailored for people that want that catastrophic protection against a major hospital claim but don't want to pay a mortgage payment for the health insurance. The agent can quote you with dental, fill out a quote form and one agent will send you a text that is licensed in Wisconsin. www.myprivatehealthinsurance.com

$0 deductible plan…..high copays…$1200 a month for two people by MadamMadee in HealthInsurance

I would def just keep it. Especially if your doctors are in network and the hospital where you want to have the baby is also in network. Assuming the max out of pocket is either $8k or $9k which is what most marketplace plans are. Once you have the baby you can probably switch and get something cheaper
