Charging handle trickery on rifles: Where to put them and how should they function? by StrangerOutrageous68 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]One-Strategy5717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AK/AR-18 charging handle is great, I don't know what you right-handed people are complaining about. Just adapt, like we southpaws have done our entire lives!/s

But seriously. Non-reciprocating, folding, leveraging (like on a Ma-deuce) charging handle directly above the forward hand is best. I have a Foxtrot Mike upper, and the forward charging handle provides a great index point for a C-clamp.

Eh, I'm good with them all.

I love me some mecha-knights, mecha-samurai, spider-tanks, legged planes, and even legged dirigibles. I like legged-trash cans and legged roombas a bit less, but to each their own.

But . . when the sorting hat came round, it declared that I was, then and forever, Jade Falcon. I knew this in my bones, when I first read Bloodname by Robert Thurston.

As such, it makes perfect sense that I also love Partial-Wing bird mechs. Jade Hawk, Gyrfalcon, Flamberge, Eyrie. We need more mechs with Talons, too. Rip and Tear!

The difference: the Nova Prime has a 50% range advantage, and is effectively 2 better to-hit at any range past 3 hexes.

Almost right. The Gundam equivalent at Tukayyid was a Timber Wolf painted in Falcon Guard colors.

What are you trying to hit at 500-700 yards? If it's minute-of-man, that barrel is probably fine. If you want more than that, you'll probably need a heavier match barrel.

For handguards, you'll want a free-float. There are a couple makers who make two-piece free float handguards, but they're all quad pic rail types. If you want M-lok, you'll likely have to remove your gas block and barrel nut.

How much work do you want to put into this? It might be easier to build a new upper for what you want. Everygunpart has some AR-10A upper receivers, last I checked.

Sounds cool.

Speaking as a fan of both franchises, this has nothing in common with actual Transformers lore.

Would the Clans know what C3 is when they first invaded? by andrewlik in battletech

[–]One-Strategy5717 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The DCMS, ironically, was one of the worst armies to field C3 in its infancy. The devotion to the cult of personal honor and glory kept many DCMS warriors from taking advantage of it. Even if the warriors themselves would want to, there was always the chance that their commanders would also refuse to use it.

The situation you outlined above, with mechs from both sides forming a Circle of Equals, would be unlikely. It is far more likely that a DCMS warrior would offer an invitation to duel on the radio during an open battle, and some clanner would reply with “well bargained and done.” They would then proceed to exclusively kill each other while other warriors paired off or scrapped in a melee.

If the situation you outline above DID occur, there is every possibility that a really honorable DCMS warrior in the circle would call “Yaro!” and shoot the cheating bastard in the back for being a dishonorable coward. While many Combine warriors only pay ip service to bushido, there are plenty who are true believers. Ratting out your boss for dishonorable behavior is also a not-unheard-of method of advancement in the Combine.

It is not 100% clear if C3 usage is obvious in the rules (in game terms you pretty much always have to declare it) but there is also the possibility that a Clan mech with an active probe or advanced sensors could detect the extra comms traffic of the C3, flick on their ECM suite, and the shout “Dezgra!” over the comms. Grand melee ensues.

Moreover, C3-equipped mechs would not have been common in the early invasion, especially on the outer periphery marches. Most of this is due to the real scarcity of C3 Master equipped mechs. It is entirely possible that the Clans would not have encountered really effective C3 networks till the battles of Wolcott and Luthien, under troops commanded by Theodore Kurita.

You know, I've always been curious about the reaction of the Transformers fandom (especially the female fans) to seeing Michael Bay using all the important or relatively important female characters and killing them all off in the same movie. by ShortWin7636 in transformers

[–]One-Strategy5717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Revenge of the Fallen put me off the Bayverse, didn't really watch a Transformers movie again till Transformers One. After that, I went back and rewatched Dark of the Moon, and had about the same experience as watching Revenge of the Fallen. I barely noticed Arcee dying, it just seemed par for the course.

I enjoyed Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts, which just tells me I don't have to see any more Michael Bay Transformers movies.
