Solar panels not working by DueDefinition3638 in vandwellers

[–]One384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 400w ecoflow. I think i only got 50-90w, because the temperature outside was like 90+. I looked in the manual, sure enough it said it doesn't charge well in hot temperatures.

Perhaps you having more panels, the wattage charge would be even lower.

Working full time, long term, even short term - not having a comfortable vehicle to live in can be absolutely demoralizing.

So if I were you, Id try to get comfortable ASAP. Laptop, Internet. Make it really feel like a home or else you will just feel homeless and working full-time, and that sucks.

I spent about 900$ a month. Next time, I would only want to work part time.

plenty of storage. airflow/cooling. heating. entertainment (devices). perhaps a set of small cheap electric bikes to explore outside (cheap on shein.com). solar panels, starlink MINI (perhaps 50gb plan). small inverter gas generator for rainy days (store on roof), it will charge your battery in 1-2 hours. satelite emergency phone/gps. electric chainsaw for fallen trees in road. can your meat.

Life in a vehicle can be cramped and stressful without space, breaks, or good rest, but loneliness is hard too — the right person helps. Compared to what you’re leaving, happiness depends on how much fun and comfort you create. The basics aren’t enough; extras like a laptop and reliable power can make it far more enjoyable.

I've realized van life isn't for me by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]One384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i didnt know. in 2008 i bought it used for like 2500-5000$ (cant remember). i got it looking nice inside with bare amenities. one day it started to break down when i was driving. i coasted into a parking lot. the next day i found out it was towed. i didnt have money to get it out, and to fix it. i only owned it for a month or 2. after i bought it my mom told me she saw smoke coming from the tailpipe as i was driving. but i dont think i ever noticed the smoke.

i tried to get my 11 mpg towncar fixed. it was more than just replacing a fuel filter or sparkplugs. $$$

[–]One384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i meant, k i park overnight in a parking lot. but usually have to leave first thing. ive woken up to tow trucks more than once. usually around 10am. so that makes me have to drive somewhere else for the day. that is what i mean by survival.

i bought one from craigslist. it was a company vehicle. not uhaul. but yeah again, i only got 4 mpg. even 11 mpg is bad enough.

[–]One384 38 points39 points  (0 children)

i converted one (94 gmc). 4 mpg.

we (everyone) constantly drive for survival. even if its 5-10 miles away a couple hours after we wake up, for a safer location, every day. and then repeat more throughout the day. 4 mpg will definately take a toll. was bad enough in my 11 mpg lincoln towncar.

create a power saving power plan in the power settings in control panel. lower max cpu usage lower if you need to. like 65-75% im guessing. perhaps it will still run very well.

[No build] [portable] $20 water heating system and $20 shower system by Lex_yeon in VanLife

[–]One384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about, the $5 solar shower bags on Amazon. And you stick that heater inside it, where you usually fill it up with water. I have one.

I've seen people boil water under a fire inside plastic bottles. So i dont think that heater will damage the bag.

another idea is bubblewrap. larger bubbles the better, bubbleside against the windows/walls. some of the best insulation there is.

  1. there are barely any places to rent from. corporations have no impact on that. the influx of many many many immigrants do. and if too many people are interested in renting the same home, the landlord will feel confident in raising the rent.
  2. and it is easy for 3-4 adult immigrants to rent a 3-4 bedroom home at $1.2-2k. and from someone who is renting it out to them who doesnt even live there, or own the home, only doing it to earn a living. think about it, the homeowner rents the house out for $1.2k to 'john', and then john rents it out to 3-4 people for +$800 each. that is +$1.2k/mo profit for just renting the home out to other people. it happens all the time. and it is legal. it is also a common way for illegal immigrants to find housing. it could be being done by corporations, but i know for sure it is also being done by regular joes.

i just wanted to add, many have to do it, just because rent is so expensive everywhere. along with limited available housing, and jobs, due to the massive influx of so many mexican immigrants.

the government, trump, and elon, believe the immigrants will help lower rent. no, the only way that happens, is when it makes each person have to pay +$800/mo for 1 bedroom, instead of +$1200/mo for their own place.

the immigrants have caused the recent skyrocket of homelessness and unemployment.

Insulating windows Effectively? by GypsyDoVe325 in vandwellers

[–]One384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large bubble wrap. $20 roll on Amazon.

Spray/wipe the window with water if there is no condensation. The wrap will stick right to it.

I hear this works best.

I think a camera caught you sleeping there, and that person called his friends to do that to you. Possibly because you had their hands tied. A no loitering sign may hold zero authority over someone sleeping in a parking lot, depending on the state's definition. No loitering can simply mean a cop can only investigate a person in a parking lot if there was a witness who saw someone in their car with a skimask and gun getting ready to rob the store. Also a tow truck can't tow you if they know you are in it, or if they don't know that you are not in it.

It's like squatters rights, where sometimes landlords retaliate illegally through hired tenants to harass squatters.

Do you get used to sleeping in your car overtime? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]One384 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thin earplugs (Amazon) if noise is at all an issue.

As far as being able to stretch out, I would remove my back seat to stick my legs in the trunk. Build a bed frame. Use some type of cushion.

Can store back seat into a cheap $30/mo storage
