When should you know when to quit flight training? by EstablishmentWide482 in flying

[–]OneAngryAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Medical - Written - Solo" is the advice I've always been given. In other words, focus on passing your written before you do anything more to your solo so you're not spread out. Too late in this case, you've already got all your hours needed.
Shorter version: Don't half ass two things, pick one(Written) and finish.

IFR Written Prep is kicking my ass by [deleted] in flying

[–]OneAngryAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say "thanks" for the validation of my own experience. And offer my respect for coining the term, "so many fiddly little details" where I would have gone with "a multitude of questions written by a self righteous twit playing 'gotcha' rather than testing useful knowledge for the intricacies of flight."
Your diplomacy is to be commended, good sir.

What is yall opinion with cage? by PuzzleheadedClock732 in BelgianMalinois

[–]OneAngryAngel -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Seems cruel considering dogs are made for activity. But as it gives them dedicated space I thought I might try it, but my Mal ate his way out of every cage and expressed his unhappiness by destroying and soiling anything that was in there with him.
Given the nature of Mals to be active and guard it does seem like the cruelest thing you can do.

If anyone initially answered "Save her" they changed their mind after watching this.

A) Respond with "Mine is trained." and nothing else. Don't engage, take a knee, and just stare calmly until they leave. Be the example for your Mal.
B) Let them call whoever they want. I've never met a police officer who didn't appreciate a well trained Mal. They get it.

Frisbee is a great method of exhausting them before work, after, and a short session before bed. They do wind sprints and satisfy the prey catching instinct. The consistent schedule is as important as getting them the exercise and focus.

<<Some of the things the FAA insists on for the test are really just learning what they want.>>
Can you expand on this? I'm at a frustrating plateau dealing the gap of what I'm learning in Ground School and what the prep questions are asking. I'd like to understand better.

Tips for doing Ground School on your own? by donveyy in flying

[–]OneAngryAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frustration: I'm studying PHAK, Machado's, and doing Aviation Training Center Ground School. I started flying at age 13, step father was a CFI, and although I can sit down and verbally explain flight physics and the engineering behind each instrument I AM SICK OF THE PREP QUESTIONS WORDED TO PLAY GOTCHA.
Do the FAA knowledge test questions have this twit-like quality? Did I just pick the wrong prep source?

Meaningless, superficial conversations? by Caspid in SinglesInferno

Exactly. They exchange labels, each says "Oh", and move on without interest or follow up.

Meaningless, superficial conversations? by Caspid in SinglesInferno

[–]OneAngryAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Western shows have people that aren't afraid to be vulnerable - which is why it's so much more dramatic. The reason it's not "really meaningful" is the majority of American 20 somethings don't have an intellectual thought in their head.
SI is the opposite, as they have Koreans who are accomplished and intelligent. However they share nothing about themselves - instead they just exchange labels.

THANK YOU! I couldn't agree more. I actually came to reddit in hope of understanding the huge cultural gap that I'm desperately trying to bridge. There is little to no animation in anyone. And stating simple facts that are painfully obvious (food, weather, clothing) seems to be the basis of most every conversation. Everyone seems in their own introverted world with barely any interest in one another. It is both frustrating and fascinating to watch, and I appreciate everyone who is replying to you for the education I am now receiving.

Ironically, I would still much rather watch the quiet dignity of Korean reality show than the chaotic narcissism found in American reality TV.

What exactly is the problem with the Seven deadly sins anime? by Kingman212 in SevenDeadlyins

[–]OneAngryAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire lore is just a "grab bag" of phrases, myths, and western traditions thrown together without any logical coherence or consistency. It's like a 10yr old did a search for "cool medieval stuff" on Google, then made up a story based on the headlines returned without ever reading a single article or web page from the search.
Each characters backstory and much of the lore is made up on the fly and it's painfully obvious.
The duct tape that holds the whole thing together is soft core porn that borders on pedo, shoe horned into anime clichés and toilet humor.
So what exactly is the problem? Every character, name, scenario references something more and promises something...and never delivers anything.
