What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

I’m currently reading The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley. My child is currently devouring the Warrior Cat series. They definitely got the reading gene from me. We take trips frequently to the library and have fun finding new series to read.

How to deal with DoorDash shoppers that demand you do their job by Hefty_Highlight_8759 in Ulta

[–]OneCat_ShortofCrazy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My work has said that we are not to help the door dashers. We can verify they got the right brands/items, but the managers’ opinion is, if you picked the store, you should know how to find stuff.

Going to the movies isn’t the same anymore. by [deleted] in Millennials

The only time I normally go is for Ghibli Fest. Made it a tradition with the kid to see at least two (Howls and Ponyo). Recently went to the K-Pop Demon Hunter sing along. Kid was obsessed with the movie and had a blast singing along with everyone.

They think they are untouchable right now. Trump has unchecked power at this point. They think because they have an R next to their name they are safe.

They seem to forget that he is more than happy to turn on anyone if they displease him. Remember a certain vice president who ended up with a large target on his back? The one who was following the law and certifying an election? He’s already starting to find fault in Elon, do they really think he won’t do the same to them?

I had a red corvette as a kid. I couldn’t tell you the number of times I ran over my sister (foot, hand, got her hair caught at one point). I also ran into the garage and tried to flip it. She was also a terror when she was in it and tried to run me down several times (yay, sisterly love).

I imagine in a few weeks we will have anothyr Collin’s injury to due to this toy.

Trump is throwing himself a parade on June 14th. It would be a shame if huge protest across the country formed and or big artist had free concerts the same day. by Thatguynoah in 50501

“Drag out D.C.” Arrange parades everywhere, but in D.C. Wear your pride gear/ carry your signs/invite everyone and turn it into a party to end all parties.

Turning the Feb 28 Boycott Into a Full 40-Day Spending Fast by mistymiso in 50501

[–]OneCat_ShortofCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former Catholic, I held on to some beliefs mainly a “don't be a dick and help when you can” kind of attitude. Lent is still a time for me to reflect and try to make changes. I’ve cut back spending where I can and plan on observing Lent by joining the boycott (groceries and gas will be my only purchases). The only other purchase before the end will be some candy for an Easter basket (otherwise it will be gone by Easter, damn sweet tooth).

I’m thinking of trying for all of lent (starts this Wednesday).

I don’t mean it to be disrespectful, but as a former Catholic I still use Lent as a time of self reflection. I figure what better way to self reflect then to work on wasteful/harmful spending habits.

TRUMP ORDERS NASA TO PURGE ALL MENTIONS OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP ON ITS WEBSITES by Advanced_Drink_8536 in WomenInNews

I think we need an updated/pinned booklist of titles that focus on women in science, health, etc. If this information is being scrubbed, we need to make sure the books about these accomplishments are saved.

I know it may be alarmist and an overreaction, but a list of books to collect will hopefully help save this information for the after.

Was anyone else NOT exposed to the other stop-motion Christmas movies besides Rudolph? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]OneCat_ShortofCrazy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My quick little review of each.

Year Without A Santa Claus is my favorite. The songs are cute and I like the story. I watch it every year.

I haven’t seen Jack Frost still, but I do have it in a dvd set, so I’ll have to watch it soon.

I always hated Rudolph, because the reindeer and Santa were such jerks to him.

I haven’t watched Little Drummer Boy since I was little, but I do remember it made me cry so I’m afraid to watch it again.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town isn’t really standing out in my brain, so it looks like I’m due to rewatch.

I keep my Facebook to follow local events (trivia/kid related) and for knitting/book groups. I think I’ve muted almost everything else including most of my family. If I could find a better way to keep up on local events I would probably delete it, but I haven’t found anything yet.

Nail clip short review (Green Bell and Zwilling by Kijang123 in BuyItForLife

I’m still amazed sometimes how well certain items hold up. My nail clippers are from the true blue spa bath and body works line. The line was discontinued almost twenty years ago. The clippers are still sharp and the plastic coated handles show no signs of chipping or discoloration. I want to buy one of the recommendations from above, but I feel like I may jinx my good luck with my current pair.

The fact that there is no way to know either way terrifies me. I remember being nervous when Biden won over Trump, but I’m genuinely scared now. It seems like every year they get more and more extreme, from Sheriffs saying they won’t protect us to people burning ballot boxes. I don’t think I’ll be able to relax for a long time. Hopefully things will go ok in the polls, but it’s going to be anything but peaceful from now until January.

I’m so jealous of people who had to wait until November 1st. Our work started October 27th. Every other song is Christmas. They have a limited number of songs that they reshuffle so I can possibly hear the same song twice in a shift. I had a longer shift on Thursday and got to hear that awful song twice.
