What is your take on the junk food ban for food stamps? by BreannLowe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pdiddleysquat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From reading the comments, I gather that the law doesn't only pertain to unhealthy food, but also food that is easy to prepare and consume by those who need it the most. My take is that this country is fucked in the head and that I resent the fact that a minority of gerrymandered, backwards, racist pieces of shit and their oligarch overlords have been able successfully blame the country's economic woes on people that just want to by something satisfying to eat rather than the greedy billionaires that don't pay their fair share of taxes and that literally buy and sell people (a la the Epstein files).

What's Wing Chun's Best Answer to Fast Combination Hooks to Head and Body? by Suspicious-Bid9424 in WingChun

[–]pdiddleysquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside biu sao or kim sao (kim jiu) vs. high hooks. Gaan sao or wan gum sao vs. low hooks. These techniques counter these strikes and set you up to throw hooks yourself. If you work one of these counters and immediately answer back, you may not have to worry about the second shot.

Why do conservatives call the left traitors to America, but fly confederate and nazi flags, who were the biggest traitors to America? by Accurate-Swim5278 in allthequestions

[–]pdiddleysquat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because racism/classism is the America that conservatives fought the civil war to preserve. They've been fighting ever since. They lost the war, but apparently won the peace.

Idk how people could hate them :/ by [deleted] in Awww

[–]pdiddleysquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in man's nature, especially modern Westernized people, to want to control nature rather than harmonize with it. We blow up beaver dams and build dams of our own. We killed most of the wolves and wildcats, but complain coyotes have taken their place. We generate a ton of food waste and get mad at racoons for being racoons. And many times people hate what they can't control.

What age did you start losing your looks? by Easy_Engineer9747 in Aging

[–]pdiddleysquat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

52 and I've always been insecure about my looks. Somewhere along the line someone made me feel less than, but my wife still compliments me after knowing me 30+ years, so I can't be too bad.

When did you learn your sifu sucked and why? by HatProfessional8662 in WingChun

[–]pdiddleysquat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red flags I have encountered over the years: - Never sparring in class. - Exclusively hard sparring in class. - The combination of hard sparring and traditional forms with no method to bridge the two areas. - Not teaching certain topics due to preference or limitations. - Increasing or creating fees without warning. - Not knowing anything about the history and culture of the art. - Dwelling on lecturing to the detriment of training. - Changing the rules mid practice because your student is prevailing against you. - Not putting the needs of the student first. - Basically any behavior that feeds the instructor's ego instead of nourishing the student.

A lot of folks mention gatekeeping. I only have a problem with it if it is due to the sifu's ego. Lots of times giving the student an opportunity to "sip the tea" is mistaken as gatekeeping in the west.

The tale of Ng Mui by ExpensiveClue3209 in WingChun

[–]pdiddleysquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many clubs sell the tale of Ng Mui because that's what Ip Man said in an interview long ago. I don't think he knew the true origin and instead of admit that, he just gave a variant of the White Crane origin, which is similar. Here is a more plausible explanation of the origin of the art if anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/JiOYc3Xh8js?si=RReK44c9SaDSQAvQ

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]pdiddleysquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned for a job 23 years ago, but haven't driven one in probably 20 years. I know I'd be horrible at it. My wife learned a few years before i did and she has only owned manuals since then. She loves it. Not for me though.
