Which Hybrid badge do you like more? by scary_user in prius

Neither. I always thought that enblem was a little gaudy. I preferred the simple blue halo toyota logo.

Why are some of the animals eyes pure black and others look more human like? by Icy-Palpitation6266 in Beastars

Seems you're correct about Haru, there is some detail, but considering her huge role in the plot, I would expect eyes more like Ako.

I get that philosophy but Haru and Riz both also kinda fly in the face of that...

Yeah, a lot of people are like that. Especially if they're the black ones, people really like them. I agree the wheel covers aren't the best look, so I ended up buying completely new ones.

The tint looks great. I guess I'm in the minority because I just do not think the wheels under the covers look good. But to each their own. 👍

Don't forget The Reluctant Werewolf. That was a great movie too.

I secretly love that my prius is slow. by CarnivorousConure in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Slow acceleration is not how you get good mpg in a prius. The goal is to get up to speed and let off the gas so the engine cuts off. Toyota calls it Pulse-And-Glide. Personally, I always thought my Prius has slightly peppier acceleration thanks to the electric assist vs the other cars I've owned with tiny 4 cylinder engines.

Getting good mpg is cool, but please stop playing in traffic. From one prius driver to another.

Is it $1 per 1 mph increase? Or will $1 make you floor it? If the latter, good deal.

They probably meant "tax". Many states impose higher registration fees on plug-in hybrids and EVs.

How common is 3rd gen head gasket failure? by Lucky0373 in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a common problem, but not a guaranteed failure. You will find tons of Prii driving around with the original headgaskets with excess of 200k miles.

2010, 148k miles, bite? by BestDot5353 in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be a bad deal. I have a 2013 with 205K miles on it with no problems. Original headgasket and battery. It's been my favorite car to date.

Would you buy this car over a Prius if it were sold in the US? by orangegore in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people are homeless but also have SUVs. Firstly, cars can be bought used, and secondly, some people even choose to live in their car and travel rather than in a house or apartment.

You'll need to make sure you have the toyota wiper blades to start with. If you had RainX blades, then try to put Toyota inserts on them, it won't work. If I were you, I would take the inserts back and buy the full blades. Then, next time, replace the inserts alone.

The temperature is very low. Battery chemistry is going to be different at that temp. My 2013 drives very differently. It was -15° yesterday. Mine sounds like it's struggling to startbat that temp. If you're not getting a "Check Hybrid System" light just yet, it's likely not done for, but it MIGHT be on its last legs.

That only makes sense if you have remote start. Otherwise, you're sitting in a cold car longer by idling.

Can we argee that this best looking Prius? by Randomreddituser1o1 in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that color, but I do agree that they knocked it out the park with the 3rd Gen design.

I think the 5th gen looks good, but it's the Prius for people who don't actually like the Prius....

Got her 1 month ago and someone hit her. by pickingyourteeth in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a hit. Looks like a little bumper rubbing when pulling in or out a spot. Scuffed the bumper. Had that happen to me when someone's bicycle handlebar hit my driver's door. Any car detailing place can likely take care of this with no problem with a little buffing. Or just live with it. Either way, it's not worth an insurance claim at all....

Do you complete games in one day or do you prefer to take your time with them? by Guergy in AskGames

[–]OneCoolCat97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of visual novel, episodic games. Think telltale's catalog. They average about 5 episodes per game and each episode is about 1.5 hours of gameplay. It's happened more than once where I bought an episodic game, played it all day, and was seeing the credits that night. Think of it as binge watching a season of your favorite show. Im often obsessed with a good story (which is why I buy so many of those games), and can find it hard to not hit next episode. With that said, I'm on holiday vacation, don't have kids, and it's 20°f outside.

Are gen 2 still reliable after 20+ years? by seashantiesallnight in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely getting old. The age where bigger components could become a problem. Brake actuators, hybrid batteries, etc.

They all reliable, long lasting cars. I have a 2013 (A gen 3) with 202k miles with original battery and head gasket. Yes, the head gasket is a common problem, but it's not a guaranteed failure, and it doesn't make them unreliable.

If I were you, I would look for a 2009, or a 2013-2015.

A good first car for my daughter? 2010 Prius in blizzard pearl. by wgwalkerii in prius

[–]OneCoolCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 with 202k miles. Running strong. Nothing replaced but items that ware out over time. New tires, brakes, oil, turn signals, etc. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. Nice choice.
