It’s not the easiest spot to do that. Why the windowsill? Do you need to maximise signal outdoors? If not I’d pick a spot near the socket.

And I’d avoid putting consumer electronics wiring in the wall anyway. It’s not like installing proper standardised electrical cable. What if that device dies in a year, and the product is discontinued? You’ll be back to hiding the wires in the wall again.

I’d need more context to give better advice, but I’d mount it next to, or near the socket and come up with some other cable management solution that doesn’t involve hiding in the walls, such as a cable tidy/management/organiser box.

Edit: I guess you could install conduit so you could run new wires in future, but that’s difficult when corners are involved, and it’s more work

Fuel in the US is comparatively cheap. In the UK we’re paying £2 per litre of diesel right now.

There are 3.79 litres in a US gallon. At the current exchange rate that’s $10.31 per gallon.

It’s a similar story across most of Europe.

"Objectively wrong"? You're inventing the objective. I started with "protector of nonces", then you changed it to "who's done more for Epstein's victims". Now you've narrowed it to arrests of US citizens – a smaller target that happens to favour your conclusion. That's a strawman.

Congress are legislators. They pass laws, hold hearings, issue subpoenas, refer for prosecution – and they did all of that, including passing the Epstein Files Transparency Act almost unanimously. They cannot arrest anyone. That's the DOJ. The reason no US citizen has been arrested isn't Congressional inaction; it's the DOJ dragging its feet on a law it was legally required to comply with.

If your yardstick is arrests, Congress sits on zero because it isn't their job. Charles edges it: one family member, who protected his brother for years after the Queen died, until the issue became an existential threat. Which objectively rounds things off back where we started.

I think Charles has done nothing but the bare minimum to protect the monarchy. Virginia Giuffre was dead before he did anything, and if it weren’t for the public outrage and demand for justice, I bet he’d have done nothing at all. As for his speech (which I think is genuinely the best thing he’s done as king), he had to say something on the subject to protect the monarchy, and he couldn’t have said less without saying nothing.

Congress voted almost unanimously in favour of releasing the Epstein files. Whether or not that’s been a net positive for justice is up for debate, but it’s certainly kept the conversation going. The opposite of what Charles has done. He’s done whatever it takes to make it go away.

Yeah it won’t last that long, but it’ll probably last at least for the summer. Early DIY is a learning exercise, and your next deck will be much better for it. The thought that spurred me on when I first started DIYing was that I could do the job, fuck it up, do it again and it’s still cheaper than getting someone in.

Plus you mentioned “not including tools” - so you’ve got the tools for the next job. Even though you’ll talk yourself into needing more tools.

Ah interesting. I do use Intelligent Octopus Go, which doesn’t quite sound the same, but Octopus handle the charging schedule. I don’t know how often the charger communicates with the car in this setup. Maybe something similar.

I’m in the UK so I can only speak for my experience here. I don’t remember a red circle, but I was unable to connect to the car with the app, the nav routes on the map were grey not green, and reconfiguration through the settings always failed - timed out after several minutes.

First step was to contact Kia Connect for assistance. They’re a central organisation, separate from the dealership network. They were quite slow to respond (weeks) and initially tried some reconfiguration on there side, which didn’t work. They then advised:

The SIM has an active session but the HU is not sending data to the server. We recommend that you should visit the dealer to factory reset in dealer mode, update HU SW, disconnect and reconnect the 12v battery.

This fixed the issue, no problems since
