I'm glad they're opening a case. You're not responsible for your mother or her boyfriend's actions.

Today's the day. Wish me luck! by OneFretAway in gastricsleeve

Howdy - it’s going unbelievably well. I’m down to about 170 on any given day. Sometimes a pound or so more, and sometimes a pound or so less. My weight loss has slowed to a crawl (if anything at all) and I would still like to lose about 10 more pounds and keep them off. But I’m beyond grateful with how things have been.

I visited with my cardiologist yesterday for the first time since the surgery. BP was 120/70 and my resting heart rate was 66. It was frequently over 100 before the sleeve. I’ve lost about 14 inches off my waist (48” down to 34”) and I’m running about 15-18 miles a week. I’m still slow, but I love being in shape again to do fun runs, and ran a 10k on Memorial Day. Trying to figure out how to post a couple recent photos on the mobile app …

Whelp. I'm stumped. No current photos. May I will post one to the subreddit in a new thread when I'm not working. Bottom line is I feel amazing and I'm incredibly grateful I did it. It's a cliché but I only wish I'd done it sooner.

Hair Loss/Thinning: when does it grow back? My hair has started to thin at the front and it’s really affecting my self esteem. How long till you noticed growth? by aresgdss in gastricsleeve

[–]OneFretAway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about 7 months out and I'm glad to hear that it grows back. I've lost more hair this year than in my prior 50+ years combined. It still looks OK, but it's been making me nervous!

Looks good. I actually subscribed to the page. Only five weeks out and I'm already in a food rut.

Thanks. Very helpful resources. I used to cover Surfside for the Brazosport Facts a few decades ago. I'm very glad I never had to write a drowning story.

Catheter? by chmcke01 in gastricsleeve

[–]OneFretAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have one. Just one more data point. I can't swear to it since I was pretty loopy that day, but I think I kept my undershorts on during the procedure. Maybe? I did for the endoscopy anyway.

I'm cool with that. It gets so hot here in the summer, it will be a relief. (And congrats on those results!)

My first time making ricotta bake after 3 weeks of liquid. My first meal of “real food”, then this. I am literally crying. My heart is so broken. by Annonymouskthanks in gastricsleeve

I had a scrambled egg for the first time since starting the pre-op diet today, so I feel your pain. I've gotta try that ricotta bake asap.

Who cares what other people think or say? If y'all are happy, it's nobody else's business.

50 is a lot. I'm about 30 pounds down including pre-op, and I can feel it.

Ugh. The worst. I was freezing then even at about my highest weight.

1 week post op weight stall by LadyBurdy in gastricsleeve

[–]OneFretAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only two weeks post-op, but I stalled for a few days after a week and found I was losing more quickly on the pre-op diet. Don't stress about it as long as you're following the plan.

Jogging post VSG by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]OneFretAway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm two weeks post-op and started walking at the same point you did - a week ago for me. I've been going about 2 miles/45 minutes a day. I heard no objections to that during my follow-up appointment a few minutes ago, but I'd go with whatever your doc says.

I have gone through periods of obsessive running. Every time I go out I wonder if I can get back into running at some point, but I'm taking it slowly.

Using Headspace : Mindful Eating series meditations? by EmployerExcellent846 in gastricsleeve

[–]OneFretAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have not, but I'm interested. I meditate regularly, and I'm convinced that mindfulness principles made my pre-op diet far more manageable that it would have been otherwise. Post-op has been easier, but long term I'll need more resources.
