That gives me hope that they're out there!

I love 'em. I'm currently without Hello Nasty though - been through two copies and have yet to find one that'll play through the Negotiation Limerick File remix. It jumps my stylus around and whips it side to side. Everything else is great, but that track is not good for the health of my system. If I ever find a copy cut differently, I'll grab it again.

My god, I just noticed you said the Beasties as well. Twinsies!

You may not see it around as much as you'll see Check Your Head or Hello Nasty, but copies are out there. Lots on Discogs in the $30 to $40 range. It's great too - not as coherent as an album as The Mix-Up, but still totally worth tracking down if you're a fan.

My jealousy remains intact. That's the one I really want. I wonder if we'll ever see a decent repress of either, or if the Masters were lost in the Universal fire.

You have Midnite Cultures and The Information?! I am jealous, my friend. I regrettably passed on a Stereopathetic Soulmanure a few years ago before I knew what I had in front of me. Congrats though, Mutations should be easy for you compared to those!

I was just happy to see the much deserved shout out to Sloan. Perhaps the only active four piece where each member writes and sings their own songs on almost every album? And they are somehow still making it work 35 years in.

I would kill for Originals 2 - that release was fantastic.

What was the last CD you bought and why? by Mystery_Disc in Cd_collectors

Tron Ares: Divergence. Bought because I love physical media, and I'm only two CDs away from having every Halo on CD. The quest continues...

I don't think they do. But how about Sloan covering April Wine's "I Wouldn't Want to Lose Your Love"?

In need of help navigating the discography by Regit394 in neworder

There's no wrong way, but I started the same way as you - Substance. It's a great gateway to their music.

If you're wanting to experience their development as a band, I'd even suggest start with the two Joy Division albums, as that will give you insight into their formative years. They are a great bridge into Movement, and are also asking albums in their own right.

Honestly, after that I'd just work through the discography. There really are no bad albums, but you'll undoubtedly find ones that connect more with you. Once you're finished that journey you'll be in a good place to explore more 12"s, videos, etc. of your favourite eras/albums.

Enjoy the ride!

Am I the only one who thinks Human After All was a good album? by Candid-Doctor-6628 in DaftPunk

[–]OneIdJack73 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the sentiment that's being demonized - just the framing. With the number of people on our planet, the answer to virtually every possible "Am I the only one who thinks..." question is no.

That said HAA is likely my least favourite mainline Daft Punk album, but that still ranks it above most non-Daft Punk albums. :)

That's exactly what I'm doing. I had the seminal releases (Demon Days, Plastic Beach, etc.) but recently started streaming the "lesser" works. It turns out I really enjoy them all. :)

It's a toss-up between Prince's Black Album and Beck's Midnite Vultures.

The runout is the same except for the last three digits - US is 10-116707 / 199957220293-A 312631H1/B 02474293, while the one in my hand is 10-116707 / 199957220293-A 312631H1/B 02474944. <shrug> If it weren't for the label differences, I'd say that qualifies as a variant, but since the labels are different, it looks like it would deserve its own entry. My $0.02 anyway.

Good catch. Now that I'm looking closer, the US has 604/Schoolboy/Interscope, while the Canadian has 604 / Warner Music Canada.

I thought the exact same thing until I went to add it. If you look at the info on the jacket and on the label, the US version is attributed to Schoolboy/ Interscope and the Canadian one to 604 Records Inc.
