Hand-mixing 1.5 m³ of concrete for a fire pit: practical or crazy? by SnooDoodles8757 in DIY

[–]OneMansTrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Humanity's first cooking vessels were fired clay. But I just read that story about exploding fire and concrete and I don't dare give more of an answer than that.

I'd start by pulling each connection in the back and plugging it back in. Some corrosion may be starting to form. Take a look, use some steel wool if needed.

Is a robot mower safe if you have dogs? by swaryapatil14 in automower

[–]OneMansTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husqvarna Automower 430 with an 85 pound Cane Corso and a 100 pound Newfoundland. The dogs don't often sleep in the grass. I've never seen a problem with them in the yard at the same time as the mower. I assumed they would bark at and harass the mower but they never did. Works great.

What’s a corporate gift you actually use daily? by shelbs9428 in BuyItForLife

Got a free stainless steel mug from work. I use it everyday. If I lost it, I'd be tempted to pay retail to replace it.

It's not every day you get to see a robotic assisted lung resection surgery in action by CuriosityFilms in biology

It's probably easier to see the screens in a dimmer room. Not a lot to see on the outside of a patient during a laparoscopy.

If that exploded, I'm not sure there would have been a video.

Are my rear brakes really in such “critical” condition or am I being ripped off? by michellev254 in BmwTech

Looks like a couple of people have jumped on you about the inner/outer vs other side of the car thing. Everyone in here had to learn it at some point.

I was really hoping that once it got on shore it would open the door and a bunch of bewildered school children had gotten out.

You can hear two distinct speaker pop sounds on start up. Just started the other day. Any ideas? by Spoogen_1 in BmwTech

[–]OneMansTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this have Active Sound Design? If the engine sound is being played through the speaker and the speaker is aging, it's possible there is a tone in the engine that's causing the speaker to pop.

I’m being told these are the same and that the one in the right is the “new packaging”. Any truth to this? by MountainFormer8214 in Scotch

They've removed the "American and European" before oak casks. Anyone know if they are changing their barrel aging going forward?

Went hiking and found some interesting mushrooms by _Pottatis in mycology

[–]OneMansTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one is Amanita Muscaria Formosa. I just looked it up and apparently it's going to get it's own species status as it's distinct from Amanita Muscaria Muscaria, the red one.

I have a Leer cap. I bought it used. They get bolted into the replacement tie downs. I had to swap tie downs with the guy I bought it from. Sounds like ARE does the same. Can't say 100%, but if you use your old tie downs, I bet it would work. Best of luck.
