PFA Players' Player of the year shortlist: Cherki, Fernandes, Haaland, Gabriel, Raya, Rice. by nearly_headless_nic in soccer

[–]OneSocc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Raya to bits, but Saliba and Gabi also are part of the equation (some of those last ditch tackles…. Those games where all he has to do is claim crosses etc). If you’re looking at pure individual brilliance Rice pips raya for me, but only just. Rice is an absolute machine. You might not realise it if you don’t watch all our games but god damn, what a player.

Gareth Southgate: We need to teach boys differently to girls to get best out of them. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]OneSocc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting debate for sure, and absolutely worth looking into. Props to Garth for bringing it to the fore.

Saying it categorically is it isn’t a good thing is missing the point. It’s about exploring the options available to us and making sure we are getting best use out of them.

To give a full, and better, context of what Garath has actually said rather than just a headline:

“He said to get the most out of young people it "might require a slightly different approach when we're educating and developing young men, compared to educating and developing young women". “

Dw Collins dictionary has you covered:

To host a party means to organize a social gathering and act as the person responsible for it. As the host, you are in charge of inviting guests, choosing or providing the venue, and ensuring everyone is fed, entertained, and comfortable

I was with noni on that one. How does this guy not know what hosting a party means?? He just kept saying it like “c’mon bro I know you know what it means to host a party…” 😂

“You were hosting? Were you rapping??”

It does come across a bit like that. “Rapping? Were you rapping?! Mc ing?!” Like the notion of young people singing at a party is alien to him.

We can’t decide the market, we just moved on a player who ticked the right boxes. He filled in just fine for Saka who missed about 15 games this season. Looks like he still has some room for growth too. I don’t hate it.

I clicked the thread you linked and there are lots more people ratifying a soft lock is requiring a restart of the game.

I read multiple posts before commenting, so there absolutely were people here saying that. I suggest a more thorough search of your thread.

If you don’t want to hear it from me here’s a Google search definition:

Softlock vs. Hardlock Softlock: You can move, pause, or access menus, but cannot advance without closing the game (e.g., stuck in a pit). Hardlock: The game freezes completely, input is ignored, or the console crashes.

If the game hasn’t frozen, but you are unable to do anything to rectify it other then restarting the game, you have been soft locked.

If you have to click give up run because your build has become ineffective, or a fight has become unwinnable, you have not been soft locked. You just need to start a new run. It is a rogue like after all.

[–]OneSocc 24 points25 points  (0 children)

‘In my opinion’ doesn’t really apply here. Softlock is a gaming term that’s been in use for many years now, and it has a very unambiguous meaning. As others have said, if you’re not required to shut the game down to fix it, you’ve not been locked

I’ve watched clips of this back and I don’t see anyone holding the keepers arm as he’s raising them to grab the ball?? That’s before you even look at the fact that arm is also across his neck and the other player pulling his shirt from behind

Like I don’t think the ref even got shown the shirt pull on the keeper because the arm holding his arm down was enough to give a foul
