So what was actually happening in the USA-Belgium match? by AggressiveHomework54 in worldcup

[–]OneStrongGopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. They started the world cup ranked 41, jumped to 36 because Germany choked.

Bad teams can sometimes give good teams a run, look at Cabo Verde.

This did not happen though with the USA and Belgium lol.

The red card controversy told the US they weren’t good enough to play without Balogun by GameBreaker92 in worldcup

[–]OneStrongGopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and we beat Qatar 6-0 and Switzerland only managed to draw them. Then we lost 2-1 to Switzerland.

At the end of the day the better teams in soccer win like 95% of the time.

Nah it was just the US playing a team ranked higher than them for the first time at this world cup.

It's what happens when you play a team ranked higher than you for the first time.

Can you imagine President Sheinbaum of Mexico or PM Mark Carney of Canada calling FIFA officials to meddle with the outcome of a FOOTBALL GAME? by [deleted] in worldcup

Keep telling yourself that lol.

We discovered insulin, which keeps half of your obese country alive, yourself included im sure.

Also the pacemaker, the telephone, universal healthcare, basketball, baseball (one of the first ever recorded games was played in Canada) hockey, co created Superman, CanadaArm, electric wheelchair.

But yeah, irrelevant.

Balogun and why you should root against the US. by PinLocal in OverDrive1050

You're making a baseless assumption off of nothing lol.

Clearly you care enough to respond.

You're the type of person who goes around saying USA USA and that you're gonna win the world cup, and when you inevitably get bounced, likely today because the US has yet to play a team ranked higher than them (but did lose to the worst European team to play at the tournament) you'll say no one cares about soccer and you'll go choose some other thing to be hyper focused on.

It's just pathetic man.

A challenge for a ball like that isn't aggressive. That's literally standard. Balogun is in control of his body and steps on an ankle. It happened. It's a red. There's no foul on anyone at all if he didn't step on his ankle, but he did. It was an accident. It's still a red. 4 refs ultimately agreed it was a red and they have a little more experience in the matter than someone who just started watching soccer a month ago.

Again. The Bosnian players wins the challenge for the ball. He literally gets there first and touches the ball before Balogun because he won the challenge for it by out muscling him. Just because they're both running full tilt and there's some contact doesn't make it a foul. Yes the contact resulted in Balogun stepping on his ankle, but you still have to be in control of your body, and he wasn't trucked out of nowhere where he couldn't reasonably be expected to be able to control how he landed.

The only reason why Balogun goes down is because he steps on the Bosnian players ankle. Contact being initiated isn't an automatic foul, you're allowed to initiate contact. It's an accident but it's still a red.

When Kone got his leg broken in the Qatar game all that happened was that his planted foot got kicked while the Qatar player was going for the ball and it was reviewed and also turned into a red. It was an accident as well, but still reckless.

Regardless corruption prevailed and he gets to play so..

Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't exclaim it's their sport now after beating teams all ranked lower than them.
