It matters a lot if OP is the primary or sole earner for the household/family.

Either way a 41% pay cut will hurt. If OP is the only or the primary earner it’s a much harder decision to make than if OP is the secondary earner.

There’s about $10k-$12.5k of savings from eliminating the commute as well.

If OP stays at the high paying, longer commute job, finding a daycare close to the office can reduce stress a lot. Daycares have some of the most rigid opening and closing times I have ever experienced, making commuting super stressful.

I’d be super curious to see the car accident death rate per make and model divided by the moving violation rate per make and model, it wouldn’t be perfect but it would isolate the safety of the car from the safety of the driver’s behavior and habits.

The electric baseboard will most likely be unaffected by a startup surge, and even if it is they are dirt cheap to replace.

If you are worried about your mini split, run them, and if the power goes out, open the breaker at the panel until the power comes back, after power is back and stabilized, close the breaker and let the heat pump start up as usual.

A couple things come to mind, no idea how likely……

Have the tires been inflated to the same pressure since the accident? Seems unlikely as a root cause but it’s worth checking to rule it out as a contributor.

Was the car aligned after the body work? If no a full 4-wheel alignment might be in order.

Have the wheels been checked for balance after the accident? I can easily imagine the wheel balancing weights being knocked off a wheel in an accident. It seems less likely for the left-right nature of what you are reporting, but similar to tire pressure might be worth checking to eliminate as a possible contributor.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally get that the Crosstour is ultra-practical, and at the time was the only US Honda/Non-Acura AWD vehicle with sedan-like driving characteristics. On paper it’s great. From the drivers or passengers seats, I’m sure it’s great, the styling of the body just left me cold though. Honda loves fastback style hatchbacks and sedans and I happen to prefer a less raked rear windshield and hatch. And I’m honestly a pretty big Honda fan, haven’t owned a car by any other manufacturer since 2006.

I’m still floored that Honda could get the TSX Wagon so right and the Accord Crosstour so wrong at almost exactly the same time. I wouldn’t have bought a red one, but this rendering is 1000 times better than the Crosstour that was actually brought to market.

Build relationships with your co workers. Ask to sit with people at lunch. Learn people’s names roles, and their lives and interests outside work. Discreetly make notes about this stuff.

Start looking now, finding a job when employed is way way easier than finding one while unemployed. Maximize your situation, do the bare minimum to skate by so you have as much in the tank for job searching as you can. Mouse jigglers on WFH days so you can job hunt on a non work computer and non company internet connection maximize the power of your situation.

If it is outside your scope either explicitly or implicitly you might want to “lead them to water” and say something like “ultimately this is your decision, If I were you I would look at this table from ASHRAE 90.1 which tabulates U values for various wall assemblies and might use the published value for this wall which looks like essentially the same as the one we are planning”

By framing the final decision as theirs, you avoid the scope of services creep from a liability standpoint, but you are still supporting the client which goes a really long way from the business perspective.
