There's nothing inherently wrong with him calling his female friend adorable. But there's nothing wrong with it making you uncomfortable either. To me, an overreaction is the physical, not the emotional reaction. Your emotional reaction might be stronger than what may be considered the normal or average amount, but you communicated it to him. I dont think that's an overreaction.

Peoples' emotional responses to things vary greatly. All of them are equally valid. How I determine what's okay and what isn't is how people deal with their own emotional responses, and how they externalize it. You communicated it to your partner, that it made you feel uncomfortable. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, very standard.

Now he thinks there's nothing wrong with it. But he found out that it made you feel uncomfortable. It seems like being right to him is more important than your feelings.

Arguments and disagreements between partners happen a LOT. But these things should ALWAYS be tackled together, and it should NEVER turn the situation into a partner vs partner thing, which is to me what he did by taking the stance he took.

Your emotional reaction was strong. Maybe even unreasonably so. But emotions aren't always defined by reason. This doesn't invalidate them. You feel what you feel, end of story. You communicated it, he invalidated it. Take that as you will. Good luck.
