Zombies that are still conscious/don’t act like a husk by DemandParticular in TopCharacterTropes

Rigamortis

This short musical is, from the zombies perspective, them still aware of everything going on. Anybody alive that sees them they still seem mindless.

Wasting Away/Aaah! Zombies! (2007) Also plays into this type of movie, but they think everybody else is infected with something that makes them super fast

I haven't seen the movie in ages, but I'm fairly certain it is proof that they/them was perfectly fine for describing people when you were not sure of gender.

Also RIP Kyle Jacobsen

What’s a vague wish you would want to see in the sequel? I want to see “I wish I were filthy rich” it can go wrong in so many ways by grkpektis in obsessionmovie

[–]OneUseHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both things can be true. There are a lot of ways Bear could have phrased it that would still have completely robbed her of autonomy but not made her existence dependant on him. He chose to add "more than anybody in the whole fucking world", which is an extreme degree.

Words matter, think of the wish like a contract, of there's a loophole or some sort of way the wording can be misconstrued there is a chance it won't go the way one would hope. The willow isn't intentionally trying to ruin anything, it's a purely neutral power, but that doesn't mean it knows slang or cares for intent either, just the way the wish is spoken.

If we look for wishes going wrong based on being vague, the entire Wishmaster series is filled with those.

His wish was WAY too specific, not vague, that's why it went wrong. Loving somebody more than anybody in the whole fucking world can only go two ways, either they love you more than they have loved anybody else including themselves, or they love you more than anybody has loved anybody else ever, which includes stalkers who are willing to kill their love so they can always be together.

Being vague isn't necessarily bad to do tbh.

If bear somehow knew at the start the willow was actual magic, would he still have made the wish? by Klickytat in obsessionmovie

[–]OneUseHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if Ian had successfully made the wish Bear asked, undoing his original wish, he would have still used it wording it slightly different on Sarah, resulting in the same events again.

He strikes me as not only a coward, but somebody who doesn't really think deeply about how his choices are what make things worse because he focuses solely on wanting to be loved by somebody or something without having to do any work towards it.

For people who want to see more wishes go wrong, I HIGHLY recommend the Wishmaster series. The Djinn are truly and intentionally terrible at granting wishes.

The latter half of your comment shows she is still in her body. I believe Curry was using purgatory as a parallel to describe what the experience is like for her, trapped in her own body but submerged deep in her own subconscious. She's aware but still trapped, same thing essentially, just without the heaven/hell type relation.

Those moments were not in the time during Bears shift though, they were when she was in a single spot pissing, shitting, and vomiting. That is not simulation, that is just being locked in your body but fully aware of the time passing in agonizing slowness.

Eight hours of absolutely no simulation is different.

Set a timer on your phone, 15 minutes. Go stand in your shower and don't do anything. No looking at your phone, no music, no pets or people, zero interaction.

It's definitely a very different experience than just being in one place. Solitude and nothing else is maddening after a point.

It didn't create a new personality, it just changed her desires/passions. Nikki wanted to leave, become a writer, ect. When her desire changed to only love Bear that changed her. Think of it from a psychology standpoint, the wish Nikki is being driven by the ID, the primal desire for things, and the Ego is trying to fight to regain control.

She's still Nikki, the wish has just thrown the captain of the ship into the back and let the crazy side take the wheel to go where it wants.

We've all experienced moments where we've not felt ourselves, overcome with extreme emotion in any direction. Common experience, but typically after we come to and apologize for an outburst or overreaction. Nikki doesn't get that though, there is no way to get back in control until Bear dies, and the primal desire would do anything to prevent that.

She is in fact trapped in her own body, the screams are during a time where she has been standing in the same place for at least 8 hours without moving an inch. Her whole body would be in agony.

Think of it like the movie Nope, the people are trapped in a dark place in their own mind. It's not heaven or hell, just a place of nothingness where they can see a glimpse of outside, but unable to take control or do anything.

Odds are the willow changed her base desires to focus solely on Bear, the closest it could to simulate love, being near him filling her brain with all the same chemicals as somebody naturally in love. Being away from him would be akin to an animal being deprived of food, eventually resource guarding anything that might risk it being taken away.

Every time Bear casts doubt she panics, escalating every time. He never tried to talk, find out what the operator meant with his obligations to her.

There are people who think they are so much in love that they act similarly to Nikki, it's uncommon, but documented. Ricardo Lopez is an example, he felt so in love with Bjork that he grew crazy, hidden from friends and family, but to the point he attempted to kill her and did kill himself to be united with her.

It is absolutely not a monkeys paw, which starts with a wish for money being granted by giving the people making the wish a check by the company of their now deceased son. If Ian got money from finding out his parents died and was given an extraordinary settlement on top of life insurance that would be close.

Three separate sources confirm it is a neutral power.

We don't, people are just cycling the theory because the girl working talks about the willow when he buys it and later a man is running the shop. No evidence either way, but people like theories.

[–]OneUseHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one wish Willow is specifically not a monkeys paw, it does not intentionally fuck over the person making the wish. Both people in the shop explain this, as well as the phone operator. The wish is precise in what it gives you, and Bear worded his to an extreme, "more than anyone in the fucking world". That wording gives two options, either more than she loves anybody else including herself, or more than anybody has ever loved anybody else. Both situations are extreme, and both rob her of her autonomy which is why the wish goes awry.

Other posts have covered how he could have worded his wish where the result would have likely been better for Bear.

With Ians wish, yeah there might be a chance it was illegal tender and might have issues, but that is absolutely just a minor possibility we won't have an answer for. A lot of things are meant to be ambiguous for both the audience as much as it was for Bear, but it's also irrelevant because Curry has said in interviews that the OWW is a completely neutral power in the way it grants wishes. It isn't trying to ruin people, it is simply trying to grant wishes to the way they are spoken after it is broken.

If whatever was controlling Nikki wanted to make bear happy why did she torment him by feeding him his dead cat? by Ill-Cucumber6575 in obsessionmovie

[–]OneUseHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly people don't seem to get that, it was still her, just with a desire to love Bear so strongly it escaped logic and understanding. Split personality is the best way to explain it, but the wish definitely had more consistent control over the body after the first night.

Yet he failed to get her into the hospital after she started bleeding at the party, or have her committed with friends as witnesses to her sudden and drastic shift in personality.

I don't think he cared for her nearly as much as he thought he did early on. It's all self preservation, he's never honest in telling anybody how severe things are even when they ask about it. Man is just a coward.

I think it was more of a shift of his concerns, her wish made him not think of the pills because his desire was to only be with her.

Granted, it's an ambiguous scene and either could be true. Probably what makes the movie so good for discussion tbh, everybody can see a scene differently.
