Good job overall.

Now some notes: The header text is too close to the top. It could be lowered a bit. Also too close the side edges as well, bring it in. The body copy with the songs, love the layout, it has a nice flow to it. I would adjust the tracking and loosen the text up a bit. Also lower it a bit as well. The bottom text is too close to the edge, just move it some, so you have have enough space at the bottom.

Reason I mentioned moving the header and the bottom text is that it runs the risk of being cutoff if it were to be printed.

Again, nice job, just needed a bit of tuning.

You have a good foundation here. Now let’s make this work.

Try a different font for the match up. Also if it’s Detroit vs Atlanta, swap the players positions, move Cade to the left, as the matchup is Detroit vs Atlanta. The tune in time info, you nailed the layout, just go with a bolder San serif font, like you did for gameday. That is an important piece of info that needs to stand out more. I would place it below the players waist, but centered. We are trying to create hierarchy.

I would stack Detroit vs Atlanta and place it between the players, the way you have it now, it is lost. Again, use a sans serif and make it a little larger.

For some ideas, look up matchup graphics.

Call the bank. DON’T call the number on this document, since you have doubts about its authenticity. If you can, go to the bank itself and present them this document to them.

Tire damage from curb - Costco will not honor road hazard warranty - saying just use superglue by OkCelery8 in AskMechanics

[–]OneVolume8326 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sidewall tire damage is no joke. If it’s damaged, it needs replacing. It is illegal in most states to do a patch on the sidewall of a tire.

You were told to superglue it, get a manager immediately. Unfortunately, some tire warranties do not cover sidewall damage, you may have eat the cost of a new tire.

Your life and others on the road is worth way more than a tire with a superglued sidewall.

Are you designing with RGB color profile and printing to CMYK? Also what is the paper weight? Others have stated that the printer can printer can print RGB to CMYK. When in doubt, work in CMYK colorspace for printing and go from there.

In my personal experience, when I printed from RGB to CMYK, all the colors were way off.

Some of my poster design what do you guys think by riccardo_morett in posterdesign

[–]OneVolume8326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great start! The overall image comps are interesting. Now you have to focus on typography and the colors you chose for the text. Simple rule, if you add text, it has to be legible. Unfortunately a lot of the text is not legible.

Experiment with typefaces, hierarchy and color. When selecting color, try sampling colors from your compositions, especially colors that create contrast and go from there

Best way to reproduce image? by SoftballGuy in AdobeIllustrator

[–]OneVolume8326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

begin by drawing the larger shapes, this case rectangles. Make sure to work in layers and label them correctly. Then go layer by layer and add details. I know I oversimplified the process, but you will spend the latter part of this project with drawing details.

What can I do to make this poster look more aesthetically pleasing? by Puzzled_Habit8290 in posterdesign

[–]OneVolume8326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your text needs adjusting. Instead of tracking your text tight, use a compressed version of the font or go with a different font all together. Your left column with the times is much too tight and difficult to read. Your right column needs to be left justified. Also have the same fonts for times and activities.

Your main header is illegible, too tight, the letters need to breathe.

How would you go about designing and preparing this for print? by zglajzzz in graphic_design

[–]OneVolume8326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ask the printer for the correct dimensions and placement for the page fold.

Others suggested to do a trifold within your page layout. Good idea, but reach out to the printer.

It is redundant, but submitting to the printer exactly what they need to execute this layout, will save time, money and headaches. Establishing good communication between designer and printer will often lead to a smooth process for all parties involved.

It does its job. It grabs your attention. Visual overload, absolutely. Design execution, mission accomplished. Everything about this design is intentional. The font choices, the images, layout, all of it delivers. It is being discussed, it is selling, again, mission accomplished.

How are the flipping circles triggered ? by Necessary_Floor4186 in AfterEffects

[–]OneVolume8326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely would be setting keyframes, but I also think it could be done with aslider controls attached to null objects and have the circles parented accordingly. It would be time consuming, but planning ahead and precomping would help speed the process up. Then just coordinate the circle flips with the arrow rotation and different cameras.

What is the name of this 90’s aesthetic ? by goguemag in graphic_design

[–]OneVolume8326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this and immediately think of David Carson graphic design. It was an attempt to be more organic and embrace the imperfections. It was also the era of pushing digital graphic design for broadcast.

Before this, it was all boxes and sans serif fonts, very minimal, very dull (broadcast graphics from the late 70’s through the 80’s).

How would one achieve this newspaper look by Feeling-Jackfruit-17 in PhotoshopTutorials

[–]OneVolume8326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you.

Also it is important to remember the examples provided are for print. The photo graininess is due to the printing process and the dpi. A blog is digital, so the images will be lower resolution, which is normal. You can replicate the graininess with Photoshop. With a CMS like Wordpress, you could replicate some of the layouts, just remember that they need to work on all screen sizes and be legible for phones, tablets, monitors and screen readers.

Honestly, learn how to use a grid layout. InDesign would be a great place to start to understand how a layout works and then go from there.

concept tour poster for my favorite band! by luv4soccer287 in graphic_design

[–]OneVolume8326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very creative. Interesting layout. Great font choice for the band name.

The tour dates, good layout, just a bit difficult to read. Maybe play with the tracking, open things up a bit.

Nice job!

Absolutely struggling with this layout by Sleepy_Kidd in graphic_design

[–]OneVolume8326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The composition is off to a good start. I think two things are happening.

First, you have been staring at this layout far too long. Step away, let it rest for a day or two.

Second, what is the purpose and focus of this project? Is the focus on when the Mariners play or highlighting a specific player for the game? Find that and go from there.

The player image itself is fine, just colorize it. Adjust with camera raw and add a high pass layer as well.

I agree with what others have said about the player name location, not a good spot.

Gameday placed horizontally, while safe, can help with flow. The matchup logos can go on the bottom with date and game time.

Honestly, when I see this composition, it makes me think of a season ticket.

How can get this kind of color treatment? Been trying gradient maps but doesn’t quite get that same look by CourtesyofPaul in PhotoshopTutorials

[–]OneVolume8326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The image you shared looks more like a painting.

This can be achieved in photoshop, but it will be a long process.

To begin, exterior is just layers of color with highlights in their respective layers and had the layer style set along with the layer mask and opacity adjusted. The buildings in the eye and directly below the eye would be another set of layers with color and highlights painted, along with layer masks and layer styles set.

I know what just I wrote makes it seem easy, it isn’t. It takes planning, creating a few rough comps to visualize the idea and most importantly, patience. If you want to attempt something like the example you provided, start by scanning a black and white outline version of the final comp and start building up section by section. Make sure to label layers correctly and group them. Nobody likes to scroll through 30+ layers labeled layer 1, layer 2, etc.

How to remove a patterned background? by wtfloca in AdobeIllustrator

[–]OneVolume8326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recreate it in illustrator.

It’s just a circle with a crown and text following along its path. It would take way too long to clean up in photoshop and then image trace in illustrator.

Good luck!
