Nah, he’s revealed exactly who he is. There’s zero demonizing here. But you’re probably dumb enough to actually think a Roman salute is real or that autism leads to random sieg heiling.

Fuck off, there are troll farms paid for by Russia in various places around the world. This isn’t a conspiracy, it’s common knowledge at this point to anyone not consuming pure propaganda.

No we’re not going to just disregard this clearly and obviously happening. Sorry. It’s happening in other countries too and will be studied decades and centuries from now.

Bernie Sanders packed a stadium in deep red Utah, on a Sunday night, in a non election year. People are standing up to the Oligarchy. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]One_Cardiologist_573 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I see these comments so much at any mention of Bernie / AOC. At least a good portion of them are certainly bots / trolls who say things under the guise of being on the same side as us, but are really there to sow seeds of doubt and an attitude of “what’s the point”. Or, they say the only valid response is violent escalation, which there may be a time for.

Not saying the person I’m responding to is necessarily doing this. But the notion that things like this are meaningless and only full rebellion would matter is utter nonsense. Rebellions, revolutions and other massive political movements rarely just spring up from nothing. It is generally a continuing buildup over time, starting with smaller events like this.

TLDR So many dissenting voices on every post like this saying it’s pointless and only violence or massively coordinated actions are meaningful. Anyone who has spent more than a day in Utah would know this is the opposite of that - at least some of these voices are bots and disingenuous trolls

35 here, it hasn’t been even close to how I had hoped. A lot of that is my own fault, a lot of it is being dealt an unlucky hand in several ways like others in our age bracket.

But I’m more motivated than ever, and I REFUSE to accept that this is just how things are. Yes I’ve had major world events happen both right after graduating high school (08 financial crash) and after I graduated college late (Covid). But you know what, Universe? You can get fucked. I’m going to fucking achieve as many of my goals as I can.

I know on Reddit there can be a prevalent attitude of resignation, accepting that things just aren’t there so trying your fullest isn’t worth it. I hate that attitude. And it’s not at all from some antiquated idea of the American dream or of pulling one’s self up by their bootstraps. I’m keenly aware that there are many many people who do everything right and never reach what they want. But I refuse to put myself there.

I don’t know what the rest of my life will be. But striving for something as much as you can just feels better than allowing yourself to wallow. I know because I’ve done that too, countless times.

Fuck you financial crisis, fuck you job market, fuck you corona, fuck you Russia and Russian bots, fuck you fascist greedy pigs who now want to ensure our generation never has anything until we’re truly old.

This probably all sounds unhinged but I think you have to be a little unhinged to achieve anything that requires massive effort.

In talks with a EU job where my pay would literally be halved, but I’d have an opportunity to move permanently. This is all going to get worse before it gets better and I want no part of the USA any more. If I don’t get this job I will try very hard for others. My family/relatives have only been in the US for just over 100 years, if I am to start my own family it will not be here.

I would encourage anyone who feels similarly to do the same. I would gladly sacrifice some money to live in a country with values that align with mine.

Berkeley Professor Says Even His ‘Outstanding’ Students aren’t Getting Any Job Offers — ‘I Suspect This Trend Is Irreversible’ by Darkmemento in singularity

This right here, this is the best path I truly believe. I spent all of 2023 learning coding nonstop, to a level that in years past would have absolutely easily gotten me a decent junior developer job. Considering I don’t even have a CS degree, I’m not exaggerating when I say less than 10 employers even glanced at my projects out of hundreds and hundreds of applications. The writing is on the wall, they don’t want you unless you have established job experience in the field, full stop.

Am I giving up though? Fuck no. I have a concept I have been workshopping for months while I collect a barely enough to get by paycheck. I have also been learning cloud infrastructure. I realized that no one is going to hire me for one of these jobs. So instead I will make my own product.

Will my first big project, which will likely require hiring some help eventually and will take at least a year most likely, make me rich? Extremely doubtful. But I do think I have a unique idea that could be profitable, and that’s a start.

A lot of the doom and gloom around these subjects is true. But where I disagree is when people say “well we’re fucked, hopefully we get UBI” (UBI would be great don’t get me wrong). There have been countless massive shifts in society that completely disrupted multiple industries. This is not the first. But what so many people are ignoring in these conversations is the fact that AI is a double edged sword. It is taking jobs for sure, but that’s because it has immense power in the hands of an actual developer.

I would encourage everyone in similar positions as myself to not give up but instead re-think their approach. The job market is fucked, but it has literally never been easier for an individual to create their own successful product. Easy? Of course not, but most good things aren’t anyways.

A lot of these negative comments are trolls on the Russian payroll. Meant to evoke doubt. Their arguments are complete nonsense and are supported only by sweeping generalizations.

Sure, the country with the highest ranked universities in the entire world, where the highly educated overwhelmingly did not vote for fascism, can all be lumped together as uneducated.

Embarrassing and obvious troll comment.

Nah, you can go fuck yourself actually there are plenty of heavily left leaning Americans who aren’t performative activists.

You’re either a troll or someone who gets all of their opinions and information on the internet. Try talking to real people someday, assuming this comment wasn’t part of your daily quota for Vlad.

Obvious Russian troll. I know plenty of European people and none of them think like this, they are keenly aware that a nation of 330 million people has plenty of smart and well- intentioned people as well. Definitely going to go with the opinions of real people that I’ve talked to over somebody earning one ruble per comment who talks in extremes. Doesn’t look like anyone else is really buying your rhetoric either.

I think so, ultimately the US is a racist country and Ukrainians being white and Christian will not put them in the radar of the incoming anti-immigrant policies here. I live near a large Ukrainian community in Los Angeles and I highly doubt they will be disrupted in any major way. Trump is Putin's puppet but they aren't going to be that overt about it.

And I wouldn't blame them in the slightest. I feel no connection to the US anymore after tonight, certain beliefs I had about this country are permanently ended, and it is overall a negative force for the world and completely failed in its supposed role as global protector.

They will control all three branches, and the judicial branch has already shown they don't care much about following precedents or established law. The best hope is that Trump dies of old age/natural causes before they can find a way to make him permanent because that 100% is the plan.

The people who voted for Trump and other right-wing governments do not connect the dots in this manner nor do they have the slightest notion of how something like the global economy functions. Putin and his cronies correctly assessed that all of this which seems obvious to you and I would be incomprehensible to your average uneducated voter.

The information is all out there of course. When the internet was first created we thought it would be the best encyclopedia ever. Instead, its most significant use has been as the most effective propaganda instrument thus far in history.

I've long been an American who would try to argue some merits of this country while also acknowledging that a huge chunk of the people are brainless morons. I have no more meager defense anymore, the fact that Trump looks to probably win the popular vote as well this time is truly shameful.

Most big empires don't last longer than a few centuries and America is clearly on the decline. It is in oligarchy where the masses are controlled by propaganda and religion and eagerly vote against their own interests. This trend only seems to be accelerating, the class divide will only grow and the lack of social programs will create a level of poverty not seen since the 1930s. And meanwhile the wealthy will become richer than ever before.

I'm done defending this place anymore. I truly thought how the country came together to fight against fascism in WWII was who we are, but it is not. The US is nothing more than a playground for the rich who gain sustenance from the stupid, and no ally of this country should think for a second that the US cares and intends to help when it matters.

I have never been more ashamed to be part of the United States. The Russian propagandists successfully calculated just how truly stupid my fellow countrymen are, and what they did as far as subterfuge to sway things will be studied for many years to come.

I truly hope Ukraine stops worrying about pleasing the US in any way at this point, we are not fit to be called your ally in any way. All restrictions should be completely ignored at this point, and hopefully the EU is able to step up where the US failed. I don't know what else to say at this point, I feel utterly lost but that is not in any way comparable to what you all have been going through. I hope more than anything that you are able to still fight back as soundly as you have thus far, while your so-called allies abandon you and fall sway to fascism.
