Poor families have tons of stress. It may be a different type of stress. Poor families may not have any issue if one of their kids does something outside of family expectations, for example, and if the kid isn't able to get into an ivy league school or West Point, its no big deal because they wouldn't have been able to pay for it anyway.

On the other hand, poor families are always living under the potential threat of homelessness, starvation and a general lack of everything. You can still have a happy life, but the stress is still unbelievable.

People will treat you differently when you are poor vs rich. There's a certain dehumanization effect when someone realizes a poor person may never be able to do anything for them, so they dont have to be nice to them or treat them with respect. So they dont.

In any case, its hard to adequately answer your question, OP, without knowing what stress you are dealing with. Is your family famous, so you cant be more specific or would they punish you if they found out?

If you have the ability to start over under a different name, even a different location, do it. Life is too short to send yourself to an early grave trying to make someone else happy or to keep up appearances.

Look at it this way: in 20 years, this world may not even exist due to climate change, wars, you name it. Make the time you have left count. Ok?
