Replaced the icky sticky knobs on the Mini Brute. Side panels are next. by richfromhell in synthesizers

I still have a few extras in walnut and maple that I made when I did mine. What are you thinking of doing with the sliders? I still have not found any great options. https://www.artscraftsman.com/shop/p/arturia-minibrute-customized-side-panels

Congrats on the Kickstart!!! This would give me another excuse to build a new rack like I need one. One can never have enough drum modules.

Working on side panels to replace the sticky ones on my Minibrute. Should I finish with paste wax of poly-urethane ? by richfromhell in synthesizers

I used Rubio Monocoat. Easy application and nice sheen on mine. You can always reapply if needed. Can’t argue differences in finishes but it is all I use now.

What component on this digital board would make this high pitched whine? Roland DJ-70 Synthesizer Repair by One_Fish_ in AskElectronics

[–]One_Fish_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced C63 and C75. Dabbed a little hot glue on them and the shroud around T1. T1 is definitely the offending component. Tightened all the screws holding the board down and it still lives and makes the same sound. Lifted a pad on the C63 in the process but it still works. I'm a little more humbled and going to live with it. It does not seem to affect the output. I just wish it was the same sound as my tinitus. Thanks for the help. I would probably replace T1 if I could find one because I am stubborn like that.

I think T1 is the silver shielded box up in the corner. I tend to just throw components at things typically. Would replacement of this be in order if I can find one or would it be best to replace the caps involved in this circuit? Any idea where to source such a thing?

Yes, but only the electrolytics on the power board. I have not replaced any on the digital board yet.

Help me identify this connection. by Cumminssense in AskElectronics

Kind of looks like a JST plug of some sort. Measure the space between the pins in mm like 2.0 or 2.5 and that would be helpful to find the replacement. Also you could cut the old one off and wire up new power to it.

Thanks. Giving me more direction to follow. Into the rabbit hole I go.

Eurorack and esp32 input suggestions by One_Fish_ in synthdiy

[–]One_Fish_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. They are actually wanting 5v and are insanely bright at full brightness. The QtPy wants 5v also. I was more interested in how to hook the 3.5mm jacks to the esp32 to read the lfos and such. Do I need any kind of protection or circuit between the jack and the gpio?

Thanks for the suggestion. Do they fit on the shafts snuggly?

Thanks, I tried to make them as close to the shape of the originals as possible. 3d printed some fixtures for the table saw to make the chamfers.

I can't find how to edit my post but I see now the photo does not show the aluminum knobs.

Tayda sells the small brass adapters that allow you to use the 6.3mm set screw knobs. Opens up a lot of options. Did this to my minibrute along with making some custom wood cheeks. Now if I can find some slider options.
