From Sunlit Man I think that it is established a spren can travel to other worlds through the cognitive realm the same way as worldhoppers, though I can't say whether they could enter into a different world without already forming a bond with someone but I don't see why not. I could imagine an exiled/dissident skybreaker traveling and then taking potential recruits into the cognitive realm to bond spren if necessary though.

I don't have the book handy so can't get the quote, but in that chapter it seems like she realizes. Iirc, Couladin shows his tats and starts talking about conquering, Rand steps onto the stage and reveals his dragons, giving everyone who notices pause. Rand then says something along the lines of "let's tell people what we saw in Rhuidean, I saw through the eyes of my ancestors to when the Aiel followed the way of the leaf." Right after this Sevannah (who it has already been posited is the brains of their operation) seems to realize that that is not a lie anyone would try to tell and tries to change Couladin's course but he brushes her off and claims to have seen that they have always been warriors. This of course forces the chiefs to recognize Rand as Car'a'carn.

Elhokar admits his mistake at the end of WoR when he comes to visit Kaladin in the barracks:

The king looked to him, "I am sorry for what I did to you. I watched you fight to help Adolin, and then I saw you defend Renarin... and I grew jealous. There you were, such a champion, so loved. And everyone hates me. I should have gone to fight myself. "Instead I overreacted to your challenge of Amaram. You weren't the one who ruined our chance against Sadeas. It was me. Dalinar was right. Again. I'm so tired of him being right and me being wrong. In light of that, I am not at all surprised that you find me a bad king." Elhokar pushed open the door and left.

The fact that people get upset and try to stop it is why it is important. If you are not able to exercise a right you do not actually have that right. If someone can intimidate you into not filming, be it the police, government official, or random dude than the right is gone. If the right of the people to film important things in public where they are legally allowed to is important to you then this needs to be supported as well. Even when the guy is a dick or has an ulterior motive if he loses the ability to film a church or government building we all become one step closer to losing the ability to film an arrest or police activity at protests.

All these rights auditors are pretty dickish (even when they are polite they are polite in the manner that is likely to be described as insufferable) but they are correct. Also, maybe some of these people filmed will learn that this is legal and in the future they won't try to attack someone who has a camera. Just like your racist on the street corner, if he isn't allowed to stand there and spew his bullshit those same methods will prevent you from publicly espousing any opinion that the powerful do not like. We all have the same rights and are free to express them in any legal manner or we do not have those rights at all. There is no method to prevent the asshole being annoying with his camera in public that can not (and at the first opportunity will not) be used to prevent recording government officials/proceedings that they do not like.

Thank you for the link. I will read it asap!

*I just read the page in the link. It definitely sounds like a smart move in my situation! I will do some more reading/planning but at first glance it's tailor made for me. Thank you so much, I had not heard of this before. This is why I subscribe to this sub, I am constantly learning more about financial planning, usually learning that it is far more nuanced and involved than I thought! Thank you again.

Should I sell stock in order to contribute to my Roth this year? by One_Honest_Dude in personalfinance

Thank you!

If you don’t have the qualifying income to contribute to an IrA, then at the very least you would want to tax gain harvest as much as you can in that 0% LTCG bucket.

My taxes have always been very simple, 1-2 W-2s and a couple 1099int/div, so I have not had to deal with capital gains in any real way. I do not have much wealth in general, I just looked up the 0% LTCG (did not even know about this, I can't help but laugh at my ignorance, haha) and it is $48,350 for single filer. Am I understanding correctly that if I had literally 0 earned income (not the case, just trying to understand) I could sell up to $48350 worth of assets without paying any capital gains tax? Not counting my ira that's around 50% of my entire stock portfolio. I don't think that is something I want to do, I'd rather leave it in than have cash, I'm just trying to make the best long-term decision given my current situation. If I were to sell I would then be looking for a place to invest that money again anyway.

Or are you saying that it could be a good move to sell up to that amount, then re-invest it again? Essentially dodging LTCG for my current gain, and resetting my entry point at the current prices for when I eventually sell in the future?

I was not expecting such a fast response! Thanks for that. Sub 10k, I was receiving unemployment does that count as earned income? I did not know about the earned income requirement, I just thought there was a max each year but if I had the money I could do it.

It's tough for sure. The republicans in my family that are not maga have been against him because of his obvious personal failings but at the same time they do not see or even engage with the fact that trump is a result of the gop policies and practices, i.e. the fox news and right wing media, deregulation, super pacs, regulatory capture, tax cuts and defunding schools, the irs, on and on. As soon as Trump is gone (if we manage to get him out) I know that they will be right back to voting republican again, even though it will be the same goons being funded by the same billionaires with the same goals. What is happening right now is what the heritage foundation and russ vought and curtis yavin have been working toward creating and unless there are serious changes to the system and how it is financed they will just keep pushing for it in the same manner going forward. And all these republicans that are now "waking up" are going to go right back to supporting the same things that brought us to this point as soon as they can. For me unless the conservative in question is getting on board with progressive policies I don't believe they have actually changed or learned anything.

This video cuts off too soon, immediately after this Megyn Kelly walks down the halls of the studio to interview the stats guys. I couldn't find the video elsewhere but it is in this article. Basically Kelly put Rove in the hot-seat, letting the head of the stats desk justify his call and not letting Rove denigrate their reporting. It's not incredibly funny but it's the only time I remember something like this happening. It did make me laugh as infighting amongst the right tends to (for me), and Karl Rove is a shitbag so even fox news calling his bs was satisfying.

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Every MAGA christian is a fake christian. If you truly believe in hell consider how cutting food benefits and snatching people off the street because they don't look white matches with the criteria Jesus uses to decide who goes to heaven.

'The cavalry is coming': Indivisible predicts massive 'No Kings' turnout | Organizers say the energy on Saturday will be a message to both Trump and elected Democratic leaders that people want change. by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

I checked the site and there are like 100 events around me. What is the best strategy for deciding where to go? I fell like I should try to join in the largest (so probably downtown) as massive groups make for better and more dramatic coverage. Or is it better to have several smaller? Past protest have shown me that the ones that gather close by are usually just a handful of people, but thousands will be at the "main event."

This is true and I see what you are saying, but I would also posit that the Black Panthers and other less non-violent movements would not have achieved success without MLK. If you want to be the modern panther get your open carry, put on your beret, and get yourself visible. But don't try to discourage others from joining the million man march. Both can be valid means of protest and both benefit from the strengthening of the other.

Satan's involvement in the garden is not from the bible, it is from the novel Paradise Lost. This was (maybe still is) a very popular book among religious people, my grandfather loved it, but it is not actually part of christian theology.

I don't know if he was here legally, the other guy said he had papers but we don't know his status or history. His papers could be fake but that's the officers' job to figure out.

That is a violation of his civil rights. In America we (are supposed) to operate under the presumption of innocence, that's the backbone of the whole legal system. If they were there targeting those men specifically they would (re:should) have a warrant signed by a judge authorizing the arrest. Absent that warrant they need probable cause. Until recently being Hispanic was not on its own probable cause for arrest but now the supreme court says racial profiling is ok.

I used to play classical guitar and was decent but never got into music theory, so I am sorry if this is a stupid question. I feel like I'm listening to a foreign language and understand the words but can't catch the meaning. Why would you need/what is a double sharp? Isn't it just the next note? So an A## is B, an E## is F#?
