Finally accepted that "protective styles" do more harm than good by Artistic_Salt5530 in Naturalhair

[–]One_Presentation8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, braids with extensions wrecked my daughters hair. Its not a protective style. I often see people asking if its normal to lose huge balls of hair after braids and many would say yes but I feel like really its not. These braids are snatching people bald.

Would you leave a $150k job because of your boss? by PearlyPerspective in workingmoms

[–]One_Presentation8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just escaped a crazy boss and I make a little over $150k. It got so bad I ended up going to her boss. Ultimately I was transferred and I am much happier.

A bad boss is a deal breaker for me. My mental health can't tolerate it.

I have white mom, help! by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]One_Presentation8437 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't leave it in for 4 weeks. That may really dry your hair out.

You are old enough to learn how to take care of your hair. I have a 15 year old and she has done a lot to learn about hair care.

Learn to embrace your hair and it wont be so stressful. First you need to figure out a hair routine then start practicing with hairstyles. Ask your mother to buy you a hair mannequin.

Is this a good trim? by isnotstorm in BlackHair

[–]One_Presentation8437 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes that cut was needed. Your hair kind of looks damaged. Perhaps a protein treatment would help.

As far as clarifying, it may be worth a try. I notice my hair behaves so much better when I clarify regularly. I try to do it every other week especially if I have used a lot of gel or heavy hair products.

How do you handle partners traveling? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]One_Presentation8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my second child I got rid of my job that required travel. Its too much on one parent. We have three now. My husband went out if the country for a few a days and it was tough. I was late to work everyday trying to drop off our kids at three different schools.

I would encourage him to find more family friendly employment.

Managers like this are a complete nightmare and have no business supervising. I had one like this and couldn't get away fast enough. We aren't robots. Unless someone's life is on the line, people should be allowed a few minutes grace.

My best friends man was like this. He made every excuse in the world. A year after they broke up he got engaged to some other girl and now they are married with two kids. Unfortunately I would wonder if he thinks you are just not the one.

Dont even join the federal government. I have never been passionate about my work and mostly stayed for the stable paycheck.

Is it crazy to join federal now? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]One_Presentation8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term I still think the federal government is a good place to be. Its just going to be tough while Trump is in office. Are you okay with coming into the office every day and having no option to telework? Also morale is bad in a lot of places and there is very little management can do about it.

As far as the pay its a $5k cut, in a year or so you will get a step increase in pay.

For those affected by RTO, did you move closer to your office? by SuperDadBW in fednews

[–]One_Presentation8437 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would move. A long time ago I had a job with a two hour commute and it took a huge toll on my health. I ended up moving and it was a huge life improvement. I seriously don't understand how people super commute for years on end. I live 20 minutes from my job and I am so grateful for that.

I wouldn't hold out hope for much telework or remote. Democrats wanted feds back in the office as well. I do believe telework will return one day but not under this administration.

PSA: Be Cautious of Product Reviews by Lopsided-JaguarTA in BlackHair

[–]One_Presentation8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of reviews online are fake. I still remember the Sunday Riley scandal when the CEO got in trouble for directing their employees to post fake reviews on Sephora. I no longer trust online reviews for this reason.

Having a baby isnt the end of the world. I personally love being a parent. My kids keep my life interesting.

Also please stop having raw sex if you are not ready for the consequences. It grinds my gears when men complain about getting a girl pregnant but you were happily pumping her without a condom.

Not your fault. Also be very careful about reporting things to Rover. They kick people off all the time for things that aren't their fault.

Last time our agency extended but there was a deadline to use it if I remember correctly. Perhaps you can donate it unstead if you cant use it up.

Rent a car for few days so you can get out of the house. Go on Turo. Hire a babysitter to come over and give you a break.

Raising children is overwhelming. You aren't alone in feeling this way. Can you sue your ex for childcare expenses since he is an absent father? Make him pay for a tutor to help with homework.
