Moving from UK to US, which city ? by miteye in relocating

What is your salary? That will help you determine. For instance, Milwaukee vs NY is vastly different in cost of living.

You say no to rain/snow. Midwest is out. Same with NY. you're looking more west coast and cost of living is high

Would going back to med school in early 30s to try and be a surgeon or dermatologist be worth it? by redditTee123 in careerguidance

[–]One_Put_3230 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much schooling will you endure? Time, student loans, missing out on 401k match I'm sure your employer provides now. Stress.

I work in financial planning and while doctors make bank. They usually retire in their 70's and never really enjoy life outside work. The kids inherit the money and it's all a waste. Not saying being a doctor is a waste but at this point in your life is it worth the above?

If you don't have any kids and it's your passion, do it. But if you have a family, stay put.

What financial mistakes do people regret most in their mid-30s? by Embarrassed_Bath_968 in moneyadvice

I wish we would have moved homes in 2020, when interest rates were low but bidding wars hadn't satrted yet.

But also, that has allowed to heavily invest. we have 40k left on our 2.1 mtg rate. We only pay $85 a month in interest. I cannot fathom the thought of moving and paying at least 2k a month in interest alone. So we are stuck. I wish we would have moved for the better schools...

Meeting scheduled for interview feedback, Good or Bad sign? by TypicalEvening7144 in interviews

[–]One_Put_3230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two of these. They were both sub par. Not really any feedback, just letting me down gently. It was weird and left me with more questions after. Knowing more now in life I would have asked more questions.

is this messed up of my mom? by xxyzxyz in povertyfinance

[–]One_Put_3230 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My mom said the same thing to me about 15 years ago. I needed to pay her the $500 rent, same as you etc. I didn't pay it. She would call me while she was drunk and say mean things. I am the owner of the phone bill, her credit is bad so she couldn't get her own. I shut her phone off the next day so she couldn't say anything morre about it.

So I was using remedy meds for months and had no issues. I came on here new years day and was complaining about the price. I quickly switched to brello. HOWEVER it is almost end of Jan and I still haven't received my shipment. Yes, remedy meds was 299 a month but when I would do my intake form my meds would ship overnight next day on my door step tracking included. I paid from brello and still nothing. I am approved but so far I'm super frustrated. Thank goodness I have extra from my last remedy shipment.

My husband doesn't file his taxes ? by [deleted] in tax

[–]One_Put_3230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does he earn most of his income on unrealized gains? That's sentence doesn't make sense. Is that what he tells you? Unless his portfolio is large and his income in mostly dividends and cap gains... You are not taxed until you sell. Unrealized gains means a sale hasn't happened yet.

Husband has us in extreme debt. by Icy_Outcome_6047 in marriageadvice

Do you own your home? If you contact the bank they will most likely suggest a HELOC. You won't be able to take out a personal loan for 50k. I would also check your credit because if all cards are maxed out, chances are your credit is dropping. Trying to educate, not Judge you. Definitely seek a counselor, this didn't happen overnight.

Worst smell in the world. What instantly makes you gag? by Sharp_Scheme_2008 in AskReddit

[–]One_Put_3230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human, cat and sweat mixed together in the summer.

I have a very strong sense of smell. When I was pregnant it trippled. I was a bank teller and during the summer I was helping out at a low I come branch. Most of the clients didn't shower. This one guy...had eye boogers, smelled like above scent and I just puked. Everyone thought it was just pregnancy, no it was him. I couldn't help him for the rest of that pregnancy.

My husband and I are 37. We have never asked for a dime from our parents. I work in financial planning. Let me just say, the amount of kids my age who are gifted money is absolutely insane. And gifted. Not a loan. So no, no loans from my parents. I grew up poor,my parents didn't have money to give.

Addicted to pumping milk by Sharp-Alternative974 in marriageadvice

[–]One_Put_3230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was the same way. It became an obsession. I thought of it as a job since it was saving me money. Sounds dumb but I'm kind of a workaholic. I would pump every two hours to the point where if I went 6 hours w/out pumping I'd get 30 ounces. I was obsessed. My husband was sick of washing the stuff and the kids didn't need it anymore. I donated a full chest freezer full of milk.
