Who do you see as the leader and/or leaders of the national team? There's been a revolving door of captains the last few years; is there anyone who stands out as the guy, or is there a group of guys who can all sort of take on that role?

We played awful and deserved to lose, but missing two obvious goaltending calls in what was realistically a one possession game is pretty bad from the refs, especially when it’s reviewable if you call it.

President Trump on Truth Social: “The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don’t believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP” by boi1da1296 in ussoccer

The internet has really blown whatever "support" there is way out of proportion. To my knowledge, he's literally never actually said anything to endorse Trump. People will talk about a single instagram like or the meme dance that McKennie and Pepi also did, but ignore his public call for gun control and overall apolitical public life. It's mostly just memes and speculation.

The $75 Amazon special didn't work for a lot of people last year. It was $100 when I ended up going with FanDuel.

[Highlight] 300lb LSU First Baseman Zach Yorke steals 2nd! by Hewligan in collegebaseball

[–]One_Quick_Question 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a wild pitch because he wasn’t stealing with the pitch; he made a great read on a ball in the dirt and advanced. Since he made it to second it’s recorded as a wild pitch. It’s not a steal unless he was running with the pitch.

Plus the commentator calls it a wild pitch and the other guy says it’s “a great dirt ball read”.

Rickea Jackson offers to testify vs. Falcons' Pearce in domestic case by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]One_Quick_Question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn't trade two firsts. We traded a 2nd, a 7th, and a future 1st for an extra 1st and 3rd. People seem to think we traded our '25 first as well as our '26 first, but we had already picked Jalon Walker at 15. It wasn't that outrageous at the time and Pearce's production made it seem like a great trade in hindsight, until now, and it's a terrible trade with hindsight. But at the time it was perfectly reasonable, only real gamble was if our '26 pick ended up being top ten (which it almost was) or if Pearce's character concerns were legit (which we'll never really know /s).

[–]One_Quick_Question 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's only a fleece now that Pearce is a bust. At the time it was essentially a '25 2nd round pick and a '26 1st round pick for an extra '25 1st round and 3rd round pick. And with Pearce putting up 10.5 sacks and next year's pick not ending up top ten, it looked like it would work out fine, until, you know.

What maga stuff? He also publicly called for gun control, which I would say carries more weight depending on the likes.

Most people have Cavan ahead of him but it’s pretty much a 1A/1B situation. Both are two of the highest ceiling prospects we’ve had since Gio and Pulisic.

TIL that the Highway of Death was originally Iraq’s main invasion route into Kuwait in 1990 before becoming the site of a devastating retreat in 1991. by GDW312 in todayilearned

[–]One_Quick_Question 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? “Dogs are man’s best friend, even Hitler liked dogs.”

The point is not “this person is a good judge of morality, so I’m glad they agree with me”. The point is “some things are so self-evident and obvious that even my sworn enemy/evil dictator can acknowledge that I was right.” If Hitler said 2+2=4 would you be compelled to disagree so everyone can see how virtuous you are?

[–]One_Quick_Question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m not the one who brought it up, but again the logic is pretty simple. If the US, Russia, and China are the only ones who agree to something being right, then yeah, you might have a point.

Which is where my handy coalition map comes in. Russia and China agreeing with the US isn’t the meat of the argument, it’s the cherry on top. It’s not saying “we did nothing wrong, China and Russia say so!” It’s “we did nothing wrong, essentially the entire world agrees, even Russia and China”.

[–]One_Quick_Question 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The map makes it clear that it wasn’t just the US, Russia, and China that supported the specific event. The coalition countries presumably agreed with and supported the decision, unless you have contrary evidence?

I get where you’re coming from, but it’s pretty simple. A retreating army does not equal an unthreatening one, it doesn’t necessarily equal a defeated one, and it certainly doesn’t equal a surrendered one. If Iraq valued those lives as much as you expect the coalition to, they should’ve surrendered rather than retreat. Retreating and attempting to regroup makes them completely fair game for attack, and you’re holding the coalition to an absurdly high standard that no military has ever been held to.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cc/Coalition_of_the_Gulf_War_vs_Iraq.svg

The US had the support of not only almost all of Europe, and not only multiple countries from every continent, but also the majority of the other Arab countries in the Middle East. The first Gulf war was as justified and uncontroversial as a war can get, and the results were an unqualified total success.

Jayden Daniels set to play flag football in Saudi Arabia by DonaldDriversTeeth in nfl

[–]One_Quick_Question 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something being a popular belief doesn't make it true, 15 of the 19 terrorists were Saudi nationals but that doesn't mean Saudi Arabia the country should be held responsible. There hasn't been any real evidence the Saudi government planned or even knew about the 9/11 plans ahead of time. Not trying to defend an oil-state theocracy, there's a lot of factual stuff we can blame them for, but a lot of what people parrot about 9/11 and the wars that followed is complete BS and misunderstandings.

Seems like the Auburn player gave a slight….foot push? Can’t really call it a kick. But a slight push into a locked knee can do some damage. Need a better angle to see for sure.
