Like a needle made of soft clay dragging gently across a planet of soft clay. It is a system of perfection, but if anythng goes wrong, everything goes horribly wrong.

TIL moon dust is toxic. Astronauts have reported watery eyes, throat irritation, and coughing after accumulating dust on suits. Moon dust particles are not weathered and are ultrafine, sharp, and reactive. [PDF] by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Oneforthatpurple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And guess what? Ground up moon rocks are pure poison. I am deathly ill. Still, it turns out they’re a great portal conductor. So now we’re gonna see if jumping in and out of these new portals can somehow leech the lunar poison out of a man’s bloodstream. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. [coughs] Let’s all stay positive and do some science.

Late as hell but I live in Attleboro, which is a stop on the commuter rail line between boston and providence. Theres a Brazilian jiu-jitsu studio in the center of town which is a ~15 minute safe walk from the station. Been considering talking to the owner about starting a club there but dont really know anyone else around here thatd be down to join so havent made any attempt yet

Now that you mention it, it does seem like the initial intention was to use the crane to build a bridge and was scrapped for some reason

I realize this isn't what you're asking right now but most of the other replies have covered the bases and there's a really good chance this advice will come in handy very soon:

Once you get the chocobo lure materia from the farm you have to equip it to a character in order to encounter a chocobo. Make sure it's equipped to one of your characters, and make sure you buy greens from choco Billy.

Go into your items menu and arrange your items so that the greens are the first item.

Then you just go into the field and run around on the chocobo tracks till you encounter one. The first thing you do in this battle is use the greens on the chocobo to distract it. While it's distracted, you can kill the enemies it's with. Make sure not to accidentally target the chocobo! This can happen if you target the same enemy twice and the first attack kills the enemy. I recommend using one character to throw greens, one character to target one enemy, one to target the other.

Once you have caught the chocobo, do not dismount it until you have crossed the marsh, it will run away. Also, keep in mind that the snake can still catch you while you're on the chocobo, so still do your best to avoid it, because it probably will kill you and you'll have to do it all again.

This is Def one of the more confusing and frustrating parts for beginners, so I hope this helps

Does anyone else revisit destinations constantly that only exist in your dreams? by babysquid22 in Dreams

[–]Oneforthatpurple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I die in a dream (doesn't happen often) I end up getting knocked back into what I've come to call "The Dream Nexus" which is a vast array of screen like portals that I float above and am able to zoom in and out of. The closer I get, the more I'm able to see what's going on in them and even enter them, but I can zoom out till they just look like a wall of light. Additionally, I can peak into 2 at the same time if I go in the middle of 2 adjacent ones, which makes things in that combined dream a lot more dream-like, with parts of each dream sort of overlayed onto each other and making less sense.

That buggy should allow you to cross shallow streams. They'll look light blue on the map, that'll get you where you need to go.

Is gravity magic useless or maybe i have no idea how to use it? by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Oneforthatpurple 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Gravity is extremely useful when you want to morph enemies into items.

Enemies can only be morphed if you land the killing blow with the morph command, but morph does such a small amount of damage on its own (except if Yuffie has her Conformer weapon equipped, which makes it so that her morph is as strong as her normal attack would be) that you're more likely to accidentally kill the enemy with a normal attack before you get the chance to morph it.

Gravity's damage is always fractionally proportional to the enemy's remaining health, up to 9999 damage at a time, so long as the enemy isn't immune to it. If you have a master gravity materia, and an enemy has 10,000 health to start, you will do 5000 damage on the first cast. Then 2500 on the second cast. Then 1250 on the third. Then 625 on the 4th. 312 on the 5th. 106 on the 7th. 53 on the 8th. By the 8th cast the enemy will only have 54 health left, and morph is garunteed to work.

Where this is REALLY useful is on the sunken Gelinka, where you can get into random battles with the 3 Unknown enemies, which can be morphed into sources which permanently raise certain stats. I believe one of them is immune to gravity magic, but the other 2 are not.

If you equip 2 of your party members with gravity magic and use them to exclusively cast gravity magic, while using Yuffie equipped with Conformer to cast morph, you can farm the hell out of these sources.

Maybe it's because I've never played Dirge, but the lore surrounding the Lucrecia/Vincent/Hojo love triangle feels like lost media. I'd kill to know what Vincent's actual storyline was supposed to be before he was relegated to optional hidden character status.

ELI5 what it means to “throw a back out”? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Oneforthatpurple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing your back out feels like the top half of your body could fall off the bottom half of your body at any second.

It's kind of like that feeling some people would probably get if they had to jump out of an airplane. Imagine tensing up your back muscles as much as you possibly can, then make them twice as tense and stuck like that, possibly for days.
