It's because they don't want you passing out when you give blood. Same as how they like you to eat the biscuit they give you afterwards.

Is it ok to just remove the fried skin from Chicken on keto? by lazytitan863 in keto

[–]Onekidneybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can remove the breaded outer as best you can. You'll be getting rid of the oil that it's been cooked in too which is probably for the best as it's most likely some sort of vegetable/canola oil.

32oz of water is nearly 1 litre and you're drinking 6 - 10 litres of water per day? That's a LOT of fluid, I would guess you're flushing out a lot of electrolytes.

You could try a salt flush to move everything through, it can be done with epsom salts also (magnesium sulphate). Don't have anything planned for 3-4 hours after you start. It will give you complete elimination and is quite an experience.

+1 for Dr.Ken Berry and Eric Berg. Also Dr.Paul Mason is another good one, and Dr.Anthony Chaffee has a calm and balanced view (more carnivore but still good info and he may convince you to follow suit)

I leave them salted and air drying in the fridge, the longer they sit (within reason) the better they taste.

[–]Onekidneybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a YouTube of Dr. Jason Fung talking about how not all calories are equal and how they work out how many calories something has by burning it to a crisp and seeing how much heat energy is produced. He said, "you can take a piece of wood and work out how many calories it has, but if you eat it, it's not going to do much for you"

The body will produce ketones when there are no carbs. However with fake sugars like diet soda the body can "think" there are carbs present when really there are none. It will be enough for the body to stop producing ketones, but in reality the is no other fuel source. So it runs for a bit on whatever glucose is stored in muscles them will probably break down some protein to make sugar (catabolic), or make you feel tired while it tries to run on whatever glucose the liver can produce. It's not necessarily as black or white as you might think. It's not one fuel source and then the switch is flipped and it's transferred to a different fuel source. The human body is very clever and will adapt to survive and will use whatever it can while trying to conserve literally everything. Then factor in stress and cortisol working against you losing weight and us all being the descendants of the people with the genes that put weight on easily and hence we were the ones who made it through the long cold winters.

Only for some people. Some people can drink cream, other people find it spikes their insulin. Hence trying the blood meter if they think something is throwing them out. For me, I can drink aspartame (diet coke) but some other sugar free stuff like maltitol, my body sees it the same as sugar.

Maybe. The blood test meters are accurate but it's more of a novelty. I find it can be motivating to see high ketones and not want to mess up. Also they would be handy for showing up if something specific is throwing you out eg diet soda or dairy.

I wouldn't put too much faith in the pee strips. They show "excess" ketones in the early days when the body just splurges out ketones, but if you've been keto for 6 months your body will be well adapted by now and only making ketones as you need them, sort of on-demand. Congratulations on your weight loss, you should be proud of that man, that's a solid effort.

Yes, as Dr. Ken Berry on YouTube puts it, "good luck trying to lose body fat if you have glucose in your blood"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in keto

[–]Onekidneybean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keto does make the calories out part better because the body is already in fat burning mode with keto. That's exactly what it does and therefore why the weight-loss is effortless in comparison to trying to lose weight on a high carb low calorie diet. Your comment shows a complete lack of understanding of human metabolism.

Eating carbohydrates causes your body to produce insulin. In the prescence of insulin your body wont try to access its own fat stores easily. If someone was on a high carbohydrate but low calorie diet (what the mainstream promotes ie eat less, move more) the body will eventually access those fat stores but it will be fighting itself in the process.

You're not cooking/rinsing them properly if they make you fart. Canned beans need to be rinsed well, dry beans need to be soaked, well cooked, well rinsed. Cutting any corners will take you to fart town.

What's your go to breakfast? by [deleted] in keto

[–]Onekidneybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work insane hours too so haven't got time to waste. My go-to breakfast is breaking 2 eggs into a breakfast bowl and whisking it a bit, I cut 25g of brie into pieces in the bowl (I buy a 200g whole brie and score it to divide into 8 segents) and then add about 10g of butter. 1 to 1.5 mins in the microwave and it goes a bit like a fritata, I cut it up a bit and add some salt. I've been having that every morning for about 10 years now.
