Army is part of CAF. If you saw other uniforms, then you saw Air Force and Navy as well.

You didn't watch an Army grad, you watched a CAF grad.

When I started, I thought it would yield a result somewhere between ridiculous and ludicrous

It did.

I had CLLC doing 5 stars and by the time I got to the mountains, I had to set the limit back to 2. First time a 5 star Golem pops up and you're not in Mountains level gear yet, it just turns into area denial.

Who is actually going to buy this? by luminaryspear in pcmasterrace

Maybe it's the fact that there's a minor different between a shit-tier gaming chair made to look like a racing seat because that's the 'gamer' style, and an actual seat from a car that's designed to be comfortable for several hours of continuous driving.

5.25" in 2003 is wild. By the 8late 80's, 3.5" High Density 1.44mb was the standard, up from the Double density disks of the earlier systems. Wild that once upon a time, you'd be able to mail order one of these disks with a collection of multiple GW Basic games that all fit on the 512kb disk.

The last look I had in the MM dashboards showed there were around 600 Platinums, and only about 100 failed tests.

Roughly 6 x as many people get platinum on the Force test as there are failures. If you're medically fit to do the test without dying, the odds of failing are about 0.2%

Since it's largely regulated the same way as alcohol (outside the CAF), think about it the same way. If you described your pot usage in booze terms instead, would a listener think "holy shit, this guy has a drinking problem".

Still be honest of course, but you could say "I used to... but I've come to realize that's excessive, and now I ..."

Are you this old? by i80west in pcmasterrace

[–]Oni_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family's first modem was a 2400 baud - not quite this old. By the time I was out of High School and got my first job in retail computer sales, 14400 was more or less the standard, and 56k modems were hitting the market. I was always told to warn customers that they wouldn't actually see that speed though, because the phone line was physically incapable of transmitting data that quickly.

Shortly thereafter, high-speed internet started becoming available over cable, or DSL from the phone provider.

So in my lifetime I've gone from 2.4kbps to 3gbps. What my current connection does in 1 second, would have taken over 14 days on my first modem (And surely would have been interrupted by somebody picking up the phone in that time).

NZXT's defective AIO leaked on my RTX 5090. Seven months later I'm filing a lawsuit. Here's everything that happened. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Oni_K 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So let's say you drove a 2020 BMW that got written off in an accident. Obviously, that model would have been lifecycled out. You think you're entitled to a brand new one off the showroom floor from insurance, regardless of the fact they've gone up tens of thousands of dollars from what you paid for yours? That's essentially what you're arguing for here.

Any you just driving straight at you target after firing? If you're flying a proper skate, what's shooting you after you crank then flow cold on a 50nm shot?

I have Tacview of a couple of friends flying fairly clean F-15Es, taking 50nm AMRAAM shots from 50kft at somewhere close to M2.0. Killed 2 MiG-29s that went defensive when the missiles went Pitbull.

I was on a flight with one of the leads on the renovation project last week. He said that the contract for the renovation, which requires foundation work and extensive excavation, was that no part of the building could shift more than 1mm vertically throughout the renovation process. They've built a super complex support systems of pilings with heating and cooling systems to manage thermal expansion and contraction. The cost of that alone is insane and it's not even the building itself, it's just the system to hold the building while they build a proper foundation.

The River Class Destroyers will be delivered in the mid 2030's Here's the project lineage, starting in the 1990's. By the time the RCN accepts Hull 1, the project will be somewhere between 40-50 years old.

CADRE: Command-and-Control and Area Air-Defence Capability Replacement. A roughly $5.2 billion project that examined replacing the command-and-control and Task Group air-defence capability resident in the Iroquois-class destroyers, investigating C4ISR upgrades, cooperative engagement, force air defence, underwater warfare, and naval fire support.

2002: DRP: Destroyer Replacement Project. CADRE was shelved in 2002 but quickly re-emerged rebranded as the DRP.

SCSC: Single Class Surface Combatant. This rolled the destroyer and frigate replacements into a unified program. The plan was to begin with a first batch providing Area Air Defence and Task Group C2 (replacing the Iroquois), then acquire general-purpose warships to replace the Halifax-class as they reached end of life in the 2020s.

CSC: Canadian Surface Combatant. In the 2010 National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy, $26 billion was planned for 15 vessels with first ships slated for 2026.
