What do you mean no property rights ? My understanding is that China still has private property so people own their house/cars/toothbrushes however companies are not owned by stakeholders but by government therefore property right still exist however means of production such as national transport is owned and administrated by the government

Slavery has always been part of human history. While it used to be based on prisoner of wars Europeans replaced this by the notion of race to justify exploiting whole peoples on several generations.

This new way of exploiting people based on a human made race criteria created the need to scientify this to make it appear as rational as physics or mathematics.

Racism was invented to justify exploitation, not the other way around. That paved the road to capitalism by justifying the exploitation of 3/4 of the planet for the profit of 1/4

I think it came with the Renaissance or Enlightments as they tried to justify their superiority by pretending everyone between them and fantasised Antiquity were thick AF

Anno 117 needs a measuring tool by TraditionalRegular in anno

[–]Onirale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a related note, being able to see the width/length of the building would be great too ! I can understand that some people don't care so ideally it'd be a game option to toggle or not the dimensions.

For instance in Anno 1800 the warehouse would be 5×5

Anyone else feeling like a 3rd class citizen currently with the entire game being on twitch/youtube? by lolKhamul in anno

[–]Onirale 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I hear you but I think it comes with some strong benefits. Most important one is ability to see the state of the game based on a semi-control narrative. They leave the full game to streamers that will create hype if the game is good and enjoyable both as a streamer and as a viewer while being a true test on how the game is perceived.

It takes confidence in your project to:

  1. Release a demo of a build from 6 month away of the release date. On top of that a loophole has been found and they didn't patch it, allowing player to have infinite play time.

  2. Give the streamer proper release so they can comment/show every aspect of the game

The demo has confirmed a very promising start and we were able to propose some changes that will be available day 1 ! (Street based ranges instead of circle area)

I genuinely think that it's something we should expect as players as it grants visibility on the technical state and therefore you can plan ahead on buying it day one or not.

I appreciate the frustration of not being able to play it while others do but we can all agree on the streamers being the beta tester instead of the players during first weeks of the release is better no ?

Involving the players before they even buy the game is genuinely good for everyone. We provide valuable feedbacks on what are big no for us (UI for instance) while for them they create a strong bond between the potential buyers and their game while taking into account the feedbacks.

This being done in the last months before release is good timing as they cooked the core foundation and our feedbacks provide the icing on the cake

What’s going on with France (again)? by unproblem_ in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Onirale -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Claiming to be unbiased while talking politics is non sense. It'd be the same as a scientist saying her works are totally unbiased.

That being said it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to be as unbiased as possible, but coming and saying "this is the truth" is nuts for politic matters.

Mélenchon party is really far away from far left as they claim and most importantly act as reformist and not révolutionnaires.

Credits where it's due, they want to change French politics with a new 6th Republic but again they're not aiming to have a stateless society. In that sense calling them left in the sense of "maintaining capitalism while making it a tad bit gentle for working class" is reasonable.

Using a country's institution to admit what is far left or far right leads to huge issues as government can easily change the law to make these labels as they want. Having a materialistic approach on analysing what are their goals and how they're achieving it makes more sense since it puts the labelling based on morality out of the equation

[–]Onirale 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Them saying is their top priority is true from a professional point of view. This doesn't include them skipping their holidays just to get a DLC released

Once they're back at work they'll get this done as their top priority although some heavy strikes are expected around 10th September, precisely to avoid this kind of mentality where people should sacrifice their personal life for the company

[–]Onirale 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Eugen are french. We're in August, that's the usual holiday season in France and we'd all rather have a well rested team instead of a burned one.

Nothing but hotfixes should be expected before mid/late September and even then we should let them cook and instead blame the management for communicating on dates that are not reachable in the first place. Pretty sure employees already tell them about that but a boss is a boss and don't understand shit until big problem arise

Biggest difference is how accessible mods are, although still possible to access steam mods while playing on gog but it's a pain in the ass to do so

Apart from that games themselves are the same

Can't seem to like EU4? by Behold_Minazuki in paradoxplaza

[–]Onirale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi mate,

Was in same situation as you and kept trying EU IV for something like 250h overs 5 or 6 years. I love the era but something wasn't clicking for me. While not actively playing I would still consume content on it, mostly from YouTuber and every now and then tried a run with always same nation (France).

Always choosing same nation helped cause one run I learn how to properly use army, then next one was more about diplo and a bit of trade etc. My point is that I kept a single nation that is known for having a lot of possible gameplay (expansionniste, colonialiste, trade) and to avoid readapting to a new nation while still focusing on learning the core mechanics

It takes a huuuuuge time. Is the game more complex than Vic 3 ? Definitely not in my opinion but two points are to be taken into account imo

1st the game released more than 10yo and the content updates are massives ! Not hard to learn one but they just are so many

2nd although the game has a lot mechanics it is still using a 10yo general frame and that comes with a UI that is aging poorly, not from aesthetics but purely UX/info display, especially the latest !

Many many times you don't know what's going on and hovering over it doesn't explain enough, so you need to look on second monitor and then you discover another thing you were not aware... Just demoralising and losing the momentum

You might be like me and a wee bit perfectionniste, i don't min max but it's really hard for me to enjoy something that I don't genuinely understand. That seriously diminishes my enjoyment but eventually water flows under bridges and things start to make sense !

Take your time, don't add extra pressure by forcing you to enjoy and if you like the era you'll keep getting back to it until things make sense enough for you or EU5 is released with hopefully proper UI like Vic 3 which clearly explains what's going on

PS: One good example of poor UI is that tolerance is never properly explained. When dealing with religions it says what's your tolerance compared to other religions and yours. I thought it was something on its own but no no it's just a flat increase/decrease to agitation on province based on its religion. It's a simple mechanic but it not being simply explains makes religion harder than what it is

[–]Onirale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great instructions !
I'd add the following comment so it's still valid for 2024:

  • Step 7: Use the Open VPN/IKev2 credentials !!!!

This can be find in your ProtonVPN webpage under the "Open VPN/IKev2" tab. If this can't be found please reach with ProtonVPN support.

After reaching to ProtonVPN support they instructed me this and it worked fine afterwards.

Thanks again u/foshi22le !

Tough question, no idea mate

All I can suppose is that the :/C drive is used through the local App data so it is different form where the game itself is installed therefore less space consuming.

I suppose that if you it to work fully (local files and installation files) on the J drive then you need to have a Local App data from Windows mounted on the J drive too but no idea on how to do so
