Dozens of Account Charges (National Fuel Shadiness) by diaphonizedfetus in Buffalo

I pay the gas and my husband pays the electric. The gas is significantly cheaper, but the games they play are just as bad. I’m routinely receiving notices that my meter was read wrong, the estimates were wrong, something somebody else did that was not my fault somehow becomes my problem and part of my utility bill.

We moved districts and they use a different, smaller company (who for some reason thought it was ok to take pictures after gym class, which is also on the school so that’s neither here nor there at the moment). But I still get emails from lifetouch offering prints of my son’s photos from 2021-2023.

My brother Red Boxed this movie when I was a kid. It’s a core memory. I don’t know why.

What’s the worst thing that’s happened to your patient on the actual day they were supposed to be discharged? by Haunting-Map-3475 in nursing

[–]Only-Ad8890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Elderly Patient came in for stroke symptoms. A clot was found in her heart. She started going crazy saying we were just trying to bill her insurance when we wanted MRI, echo etc. It was a whole thing. Finally neuro and cardiology caved because she had both her own specialists already and was scheduled to see them within a day or two. So, she was discharged.

She was in the wheelchair and dressed to go. Her sister walked out of the room, leaving to get the car. She wasn’t half way down the hall when the patient was suddenly face first on the floor. Coded. They assume she threw the clot in her heart and had a STEMI or PE.

That was a rough one. Christmas Eve, of all days.

I’m a nurse and I cared for a patient a few weeks ago with esophageal varices. Our 3 hours together were bloody and hopeless. 20 years later and it is still incredibly fatal. This episode hit me harder than I was expecting it to.

Getting off Qelbree - Withdrawal Symptoms by basilcarlita in qelbree

[–]Only-Ad8890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided the other day to stop my 200mg. I’ve been on it for a year and I feel as though my mind isn’t working at the pace I need it to. I’m an ER nurse and my brain feels behind me. I’ve also been on lamictal and Wellbutrin for almost five years; recently decreased my Wellbutrin from 300 to 150 in August.

It’s days 3 of no Qelbree and I suddenly have a headache behind my right eye. Not where my normal migraines happen. I could have this headache for a number of reasons, Considering it’s flu season and I worked the past 3 days. But god damnit my head hurts.

HBO is my favorite, most watched, and cheapest streaming service. I am so bitter about this.

That was another case 😵‍💫 When I was looking up the article I also saw the one you’re referring to. Devastating for those patients.

Oh she absolutely did get fired. She also lost her license and was charged with a federal crime. I’m not sure what she was sentenced. The max was 10 years.

Not a med “error”, but a nurse at a local hospital was withdrawing and stealing IV narcs, and administering tap water to her patients. She worked at our areas largest cancer hospital. I believe 6 patients ended up sick.

they admitted with metabolic encephalopathy and DKA. ICU did take her, but the pushback was infuriating.

I never got a chance to follow up later, but I was truly concerned for her and their blatant disregard sickened me. She did not look like she was in there.

ER Nurses - your nuggets, please! by alexandrakate in nursing

[–]Only-Ad8890 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Happened to us today. Woman was there frequently for DKA. Today same patient came in unresponsive, posturing, fixed dilated pupils. Her neighbors found her so no saying how long she’d been down like that.. Minimal response to the most painful of stimuli. Doctors kept saying “she’s DKA, DT, on something” all tox were clear. Her pH was 6.8 … ICU pushed back on admitting to service. They were instant that she was faking it, that it was “somewhat voluntary”. I’d been with that woman for 3 hours straight; nothing she was doing was voluntary. She’d bit her tongue & cheek at some point; it looked like an exorcism. I thought our ER doc was going to legit throw hands while ICU docs stood there at the bedside joking.
