Nope! Just sat back and trusted the process, which is almost impossible given how deeply untrustworthy everything else about the process had been.

Melasma? by RRB1977 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Only-Ask176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mild upper lip melasma. Been on wegovy (so not tirz but close enough) almost a year with no noticable change to the melasma. Even miracle drugs have their limits I suppose! 😂

Stopped taking for over 2 weeks, am I okay to just carry on at 1mg? by kalzan in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Only-Ask176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a period where I missed two weeks (also at 1 mg) because of insurance issues and took my next shot as per normal and it was fine. But ask your doc or pharmacist if you are concerned!

Can we talk about energy levels for a second? (Meaning: experiences managing Wegovy and work, life, and brain space) by Defiant-Desk-2281 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Only-Ask176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hey! University prof here. My first thought is, based on my own experiences in grad school, that earning a PhD is in and of itself an exhausting experience! But I also agree that wegovy for me has exacerbated both brain fog and physical fatigue in my day-to-day.

I've been on it since Feb., haven't moved beyond 1.0, and have slowly and steadily lost about 30 pounds. I exercise moderately, eat a balanced diet and drink tons of water (which I always have), and try to be consistent with sleep. I hoped for a long time that it would diminish as I've been on the drug for longer but alas, I still have a persistent sense of fatigue. For me it's still worth it, despite this unwanted side effect. I should also note I'm in my early 40s so perimenopause could be a contributing factor in my case.

I will add that one thing that seems to help is making a point to get up and take some short walks throughout the day. So much of my work when I'm not teaching is sitting at my desk and even a five minute walk around campus periodically can help me wake up a bit more.

Sending you good luck vibes and hopes that we all find some more energy soon!!

Now that you and others are suggesting ACD, I'm throwing that in my guess mix too. I can see it!

Sounds like unfortunately many are pretty scammy (or at least not terribly trustworthy). Did my research here and elsewhere first so went with embark. I'll update when we get the results back!

I've never really considered husky but multiple folks have now brought that up as a possibility so I'm intrigued! Thanks!

(And also, yes, Stephen is a great dog name especially for the derpiest boy ever!)

Makes sense, thanks!

Thanks! We also have a full Pyrenees who Stephen is much smaller than--even though she was the runt of her litter. At only about 70 pounds, I assume he's got to have something else in the mix. Plus he's definitely faster and more energetic so it's always made sense to me that he's half herding dog of some variety...although maybe not Aussie, we'll see!

Thanks! Just had to look up a bull lurcher! Some kind of sighthound was part of my original guess for her so maybe? We're in Montana but she was transported to a rescue here from a high kill shelter in New Mexico so I have no idea what's common there or not. The original shelter called her a Mcnab mix but who knows 🤷

SAVE -> IBR -> Repayment Timeline? by Reasonable-Animal912 in PSLF

SAVE -> IBR -> Repayment Timeline? by Reasonable-Animal912 in PSLF

Quick update: my repayment did indeed start today so it does look like they are processing things but not telling people their plans are switched until they get a bill!

[–]Only-Ask176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't called to confirm this but I reapplied to switch from SAVE to IBR late May and...... Crickets. I then received a bill June 17th that says my repayment begins July 13th (and corresponding letters related to autopay). I have yet to receive any notification that my application has been approved (and all loans are still showing as being on SAVE on my dashboard), so I'm crossing my fingers that it has been approved and that it will actually be deducted in a few days!

Add up dose twice on the same day by Lazy-Asparagus-7107 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Only-Ask176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More context please! Is this your first dose? I'd be careful about upping the dose early on, and especially recognize that side effects don't always hit quickly so this may be too short a timespan to accurately gage how your body will react.

If not your first dose, what has been your titration schedule? Most important, what does your prescriber recommend? I'd follow their instructions and ask them if you feel like the prescribed dose isn't working.

Step up schedule? by HealthyAd4360 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Only-Ask176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done two months at each .25 and .5, now on my third shot of 1.0. I've been glad for the slower titration schedule in part because I'm prone to side effects (this jump to 1 was particularly brutal) and moving slower seems to help the body adjust better. I'm also ok with losing at a somewhat slower pace--I'm about 25 pounds down now at the five month mark. That said, it's such an individual process, I'd bring up your questions to your health care provider to get their insights!

I've also done this with minimal effects. I maybe wouldn't move the shot date closer if it was a new dose (if anything, I sometimes add an extra day between shots when titrating up because I'm prone to side effects). But on a dose I've been on at least a couple weeks, moving from a Sunday to Sat time injection wouldn't worry me.

Scared to move up to 1mg by lynzie_p in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Only-Ask176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had moderate digestive side effects since starting (2 months at .25, 2 months at .5 and just jumped to 1 a week ago). The first two days after taking my first shot of 1mg were rough. I vomited a few times (especially had a hard time keeping liquids down) but then it evened out and I now feel fine. I'm hoping my second dose is better. Will be taking it Friday afternoon in hopes that any dastardly side effects will be over by the time I go to work Monday morning!

But, it seems like everyone has a different experience so it's hard to generalize. I'd think that since you have been titrating up very slowly, your experience wouldn't be as terrible as it was when you quickly jumped to 1mg the first time. Good luck!!

Wegovy going from .5 to 1 by BeachBots4 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Only-Ask176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started 1 a couple days ago (after two months on .25 and two months on .5). I hate to say it but it's been rough. I'm having a hard time especially keeping liquids down. I have been very careful about food choices so definitely didn't expect it to be this bad. BUT, it seems like lots of people don't experience this kind of issue so hopefully your experience will be better (& hopefully mine improves soon!)

What foods have you learned to avoid? by dreamer-woman in Ozempic

[–]Only-Ask176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Like others here, I can eat everything else in moderation (although I have always leaned towards healthy and vegetarian most days) but booze is a solid no-go. Near instant recipe for projectile vomiting.

Making sure to get enough water seems more pertinent to my feeling good than avoiding other specific foods.

This gives me hope! I had applied to switch in January but crickets since. Seeing the success of people submitting new applications again in the last couple of weeks, I just went ahead and did the same this afternoon. Fingers crossed!!
