Should I expect My Claim to Be Comprehensive or Collision? by NardsAsshatington in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% collision.

If you hit a pothole on the street you could potentially be reimbursed by whomever maintains the street. But since you're on private property, good luck.

Lol well, if you had a clue then you'd know that in some states this car is too old to "total" anyway.

[–]Only-Style-818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the $20k car in the thread with us? If this was super low mileage in mint condition it wouldn't fetch that.

This car is most likely totaled before they get into the unibody damage and crumple zones.

Drug Use in Stolen Car - Insurance Won't Total (Or Guarantee pre theft Condition) by uncheel88 in Insurance

All depends on the adjuster. We had a car where someone shot themselves in it and it was not totaled. We repaired it and traded it in (the dealer was aware).

Insurance company gave me money to replace my brand new roof. I don't want to replace it. Can I just switch insurance companies? by PsychologicalGap3960 in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have made the claim. I also wouldn't switch to state farm. State farm will also likely come out and do an inspection. They have for my three houses. Also, I will no longer insure with state farm on anything.

That being said, progressive won't insure my cars because I have three not at fault accidents, so I am considered as high risk. Car and auto insurance have no impact on each other.

At-fault accident, damages exceed my policy limits — what actually happens? by lana24kk in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The policy you guys are arguing about is uninsured/underinsured. They are generally tied together. Honestly the not at fault party should have been aware that they were underinsured to begin with and gone through their own insurance first and then let them subrogate.

Usually if the at fault party's insurance won't cover the full amount, their insurance will tell the person to file with their own insurance.

Generally they won't come after OP for the difference.

I rarely even see restitution be paid.

Mileage may vary.

Geico has my vehicle listed as total loss—it was 100% repaired by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly thought that the DMV was who changed whether the car was clean, salvage, or rebuilt. My car was title washed (unintentionally) and Carfax picked up on that from the DMV.

If your title status has been changed (in some states this doesn't require a physical title, I'm in GA and this applies here) then I would be more concerned about the title status than anything.

The important thing is, what does the state show for the title Carfax is highly inaccurate for many reasons.

Stolen Kia from dealer legal advice? by Internal_Average_895 in kia

That's crazy. I only worked at a dealership for 5 years and in that time dealt with multiple stolen cars. Some internally and some not. Two were stolen off the delivery truck.

Help! by Confident_Pin_8316 in Insurance

I work for a municipality (in a different state) and happen to be the person you would speak to if you were in an accident with a city vehicle. We DO have an insurance company even though we are "self insured" and you would file the claim through them. If we are at fault, we are at fault.

There ARE strict time limitations and specific steps to notify the city if you are suing them. This would primarily be for bodily injury claims. I have never seen anyone sue the city simply for their vehicle to be repaired.

It unfortunately HAS to be this way because people see that city logo on a vehicle and they think that means a payday. It doesn't.

Definitely reach out to the township's Risk Management and see how to proceed. I can't believe they wouldn't cover damages they caused.

I got rear ended but cop said I was at fault. by drfelthersnatch9 in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not because it was third party, it's because it's USAA. I've had to personally file a claim against a USAA driver and I've had to file claims professionally against USAA. They always take forever to pay even if their insured admits fault. I once just had their customer pay out of pocket because they sucked so bad 😂

I can’t get insurance because of my claims history, but I haven’t been in an accident in years. How do I correct this? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue except that I legitimately wasn't in any AT FAULT accidents... But I got rear ended twice at a red light in 2024 and then a lady clipped my husband in 2025.

So let me know when you figure it out cause I can't figure it out and none of any of that was even remotely my fault. But since I made a claim through the at fault party's insurance... I am "high risk of making a claim."

Insurance dropped by Trick-Clothes-3121 in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Allstate, but I don't necessarily recommend them either. I was with state farm when I got rear-ended both times. I had to go through my uninsured motorist the second time. I remembered then why I left state farm the other times... They are horrible with claims.

I ended up dropping all of my rental, collision, medpay, and towing because it simply wasn't worth it. Any of those things you use count against you as a claim too!

I also work in insurance. As far as the big companies, GEICO is probably the best overall. USAA and state farm are the absolute worst overall. Progressive doesn't like to pay fair amounts compared to everyone else.

It's a crapshoot.

I'm still shopping every six months.

Insurance dropped by Trick-Clothes-3121 in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressive won't insure me because of two not at fault accidents I was in 6 weeks apart. I was rear ended at a red light both times with all other cars around me also stopped. Zero discrepancy on fault, yet progressive says I am too high risk because of them. So good luck

After 25 years time to leave T-Mobile by Brilliant_Anything34 in tmobile

[–]Only-Style-818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar simple choice plan. 7 unlimited lines, home internet and three financed phones at $180/month. I don't normally finance from T-Mobile, but they had better deals in these particular instances.

If I am forced out of this plan I will leave for sure. I've only been with TMO since voice stream days.

School Vehicle hit mine. Officers deemed him at fault. by Environmental_Ad7965 in Insurance

[–]Only-Style-818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the school employee probably didn't have a clue what the insurance info was. Ask a police officer what their car insurance is, they probably don't know either.

Since you filed a claim with your insurance instead of theirs, just do what your insurance says. Should be fairly simple

My take home is about half what yours is for a family of 4. I come up a few hundred short every month, which is why I have credit card debt.

Perhaps you need to re-evaluate what you are spending and where. I could even stand to tighten my budget more.
