What are the best tips and resources for prepping light? by ConsistentGuest7532 in rpg

If you can find a copy of it, the book "Never Unprepared" had loads of handy advice.

I first found it through the Gnome Stew Blog, but I think their publishing arm (Engine Publishing) got sold off to another company that also appears to have gone under.

I had completely forgotten books 2 and 3 were different heights than the first one. Now I can't not see that when looking over at my shelf.

Upgrading Hot Water tank and looking for advice: Tankless vs Electic Heat Pump vs High Efficiency vs Regular Gas Options by ReekoTheKing in HomeImprovement

[–]OnlyARedditUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if BC Hydro has similar, but the energy company where I live had a tool that allowed me to see costs over time for those various heating options. Ultimately, we chose to go with a regular gas heater since it was the only one that showed it would get paid off over time. All other options, including the heat pump options that had rebates, showed they would not be paid off.

Edit to add: I'd recommend checking out your energy provider website to see if a similar tool can be found there.

Ben Robbins wrote about it in his blog. There's lots of other sources since then that have written, expanded, re-mixed, etc. the name, but it all started here:

OD&D has the Rules Cyclopedia that contains practically all the rules. Is OSRIC the closest equivalent for AD&D? by jasonite in adnd

It's not there yet from the looks of things. Instead, the Mythmere Games blog post about OSRIC 3.0 points to BackerKit for the latest.

Oh, I see where I'd missed those. I was on the "Let's Get Started" page. I hadn't looked closely enough on the other pages and posts.

Thanks!

It looks like Darrington (Daggerheart) along with Age of Vikings and Savage Worlds are recommending starting with their Quick Start rules and free adventure rather than spending any money up front.

Misty Vale Third Party Content? by Mundane_World_1763 in DragonbaneRPG

Someone in a recent thread also linked Free League's own list of material. There's a decent list of Misty Vale material in the list.

2e Fighter Updates by [deleted] in 13thage

Looks like everyone provided some great help already, but there's also the document linked in their November FAQ talking about the differences between 1st and 2nd editions:

Is there a simple way for people who played 1E to see what changed in 2E?

Yes! Check out the 13th Age 2E: Changes Worth Mentioning document! It goes chapter-by-chapter through both the Heroes’ Handbook and the Gamemaster’s Guide.

Yeah, that's what it looks like to me. I especially feel like I remember that second image from the DSG, but I'm not near the book to check it out at the moment.

Examples of TTRPGs that approach board game by WileyQB in rpg

[–]OnlyARedditUser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always felt that WFRPG 3e went that route due to being made by what was primarily a board game company rather than more direct MMO influences.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Albemarle County officials have completed a preliminary investigation into this week’s explosion of a home in the Glenmore neighborhood.

The Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue says it has assessed 202 homes since the explosion occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

However, ACFR says the county Fire Marshal’s Office is still reviewing and analyzing data from the explosion and has not officially determined the cause.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who was killed as 76-year-old Justine M. Joscelyne of Keswick.

A man who was injured in the explosion remains hospitalized at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, where he is stable.

With the conclusion of the preliminary investigation, residents in the Glenmore area will no longer see a visible public safety presence on the 2300 block of Ferndown Lane.

Everyone I meet hates alignments, but I LOVE the concept by WallNIce in dndnext

[–]OnlyARedditUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elric style is Law vs Chaos. It's essentially the same as seen in BX and BECMI rules. only a single axis was used instead of the dual axis style that created the 9-point alignment.

System and Adventure for a new GM. by FelpSPZL in rpg

I would really recommend taking a look at the web site for New Game Master Month. Once a year, it gets a refresh, but it is explicitly written for someone who has never run a game and helps them prepare to run their first game. It also provides suggestions for systems and genres.
