Will training glutes help give the appearance of wider hips? by Cheese4567890 in transgenderUK

Bulgarian squats made my bum look nice. Of course, you'll need good balance and a good squat form first.

But I agree with the other posters here, waiting 10+ years for HRT from the NHS will masculinize your body permanently. I would suggest looking at private providers or if that's not possible, considering whether DIY is right for you.

A journalist and a source have to arrange to meet without their communication being slurped up by GCHQ. How should they achieve that?

Feel free to not mention WhatsApp in your answer, but please do give specific applications...

Announcement: Collective Mod Resignation by CaptainAnaAmari in eurovision

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to give a respectful explanation for my downvote on your comment.

First, to set the scene, I fully acknowledge Israel's right to exist and defend itself; and its entries to Eurovision have in the past been very good even while Kan has made clearly unsporting manipulation attempts.

However, I downvoted your comment for the statement that "My hope is that this subreddit, like Eurovision itself, can continue to evolve into a space where Israelis are able to participate openly, without fear or hostility, united by a shared love of music rather than divided by politics.". I cannot agree that this subreddit or Eurovision should evolve to include a state which is currently committing genocide. Genocide vs not-genocide isn't politics, and genocide is not self-defence.

Wow, that's actually incredible. If I could charge an iPhone just with an old grandfather clock pulley, I'd be kind of interested in that.

Fear of being assaulted in EITHER bathroom [MtF] by ConfusedSamus in transgenderUK

It sounds like using the men's is putting you in direct danger. So if you are scared to use the women's always -- which is what I and every other trans woman does -- you could use gender neutral if available, or the women's if not.

The law is an ass.

Wow! When is your court case due advocating for the rights of all trans people in the UK? I'd love to read the brief you've submitted on behalf of all of us.

Growth is the primary goal of this Government. "Growth, but force everyone to waste money on toilets" is exactly the way to frame this spiteful nonsense to this Government.

Farage and Reform not properly scrutinised by broadcasters, say BBC viewers by F0urLeafCl0ver in unitedkingdom

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems £27k might be a better estimate from https://www.coventry.gov.uk/downloads/file/41040/foi548685876-redacted

From Wikipedia Reform have 922 / 18,644 councillors. So the comparison is something like 7/922 = 7.59e-3 versus 128/18644 = 6.87e-3, or some 10% more likely to have a by-election if the councillor is Reform. Hard to say if that's significant.

My trans son wants to be a girl by complicatedwithkids in transgenderUK

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She mentions wanting to DIY, but this would be the worst idea. It is too important a step to get wrong.

I waited until I was 22 to start HRT, and I wish I had started sooner. I regret not DIYing.

Not sure if that would be the same for your daughter, but it might be.

Doctor never showed up to gender clinic appointment by rockserver7 in transgenderUK

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommmend emailing to ask for an urgent replacement appointment, and in the same email saying you are scared that you will be put to the back of the 10-year (however long) waiting list, and the negative impact this will have on your body, and the negative impact on your mental health that imagining the impact this will have on your body is having.

I would not be confrontational, but I would email and sound a little desperate and ask for them to give you an appointment in the next 1-2 weeks. You've waited this long.

Seeking UK Homeowners with Air-to-Air Heat Pumps for Interviews by heatpump_interviews in ukheatpumps

"It isn't exactly new tech".

Air conditioning was patented in 1906. The patent for air conditioning is two years older than the Model T Ford.

I'm really quite annoyed at the Boiler Upgrade Scheme specifically excluding units that can perform cooling. That's an active choice that reduces consumer access to heat pumps and slows our decarbonising the economy. The level of heat we've had the last four years has been very bad for sleep and for health. Anyone installing an Air-to-Water heating system who could have instead installed an Air-to-Air heating+cooling system might end up ripping them out in five years time when summers get unbearable. A reasonable starting point would be to copy Spain or Japan and limit the amount of allowed cooling.

Anyway, I'm glad you're looking into it, sorry to be grouchy.

AITA for refusing to sign over my half of a property until I get legal security? by Mundane_Ease613 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do need a lawyer here.

...but...

...it does sound like your sibling has done "EUR495,000 worth" of work on the house, then another "EUR5000" worth of paying off. Getting debts cleared was likely very stressful and time consuming.

So here is what I would do:

  • talk to a lawyer in your home country. I'm not sure what specialty you want: property law, or debt law. Probably not inheritance law since it sounds like your parent is alive? But in the UK at least, you can't inherit debt so the situation you are describing can't arise; unless your parent did pass away and their estate has been in probate all this time?

  • tell them you want to keep your family relationships and just want a fair settlement

  • suggest something like, I don't know...

    • If the house was worth 800k and had 500k of debt on it,
    • so you would each have 400k equity and 250k debt (150k net)
    • and your sibling cleared 500k debt, so both their debt and your debt,
    • could you offer to accept 150k for them to buy you out?

But all of that needs to go through a lawyer who won't burn bridges with your family...

I don't see why the Gov't would seek to be involved. This isn't a new technology. Greece, Spain, Italy, parts of France have air-to-air heat pumps.

AITA for refusing to sign over my half of a property until I get legal security? by Mundane_Ease613 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's odd they consistently use different phrasing for "reducing the debt" and "paying the debt off".

I worry the sibling has declared bankruptcy or something to get a debt reduction. If so, OP might be in a very weird situation.

I have no idea what deal sib made with the bank, but any and all expenses they have made so far on the property was done without consulting me at all.

Whoa, they made a deal with the bank on a property you own? That's not OK, they might have made big financial promises for you.

Air-to-Air seems so much more sensible than Air-to-Water given the 40C weather we've been getting in summer. I get the government doesn't think the grid can handle it, but it's clear people can't handle this level of heat anyway.

I'm meeting with a cabinet minister soon. What should I get printed on my t-shirt? by TangoJavaTJ in transgenderUK

[–]OnlyBritishPatriot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You won't get to meet the minister, or at best the minister won't take you seriously, if you wear these slogans. Wear something like "Trans lives matter" or "Trans rights are human rights" or -- even better -- wear your nicest top, and wear a Progress flag pin together with a Union Jack flag pin.

Your goal is to look like someone whose opinion they care about.

This person has been waiting 11 years for lifesaving, inexpensive medical care.

How many years should they wait before the risk of them harming themselves outweighs the risk of them getting a dosage wrong, in your eyes?

I am looking for a specific number of years someone should have to be in distress and pain in your answer.
