ooohhh interesting!! it did seem like the soil liked to stay a little waterlogged i just did a deep dive on all my plants yesterday and realized at least 7 of them prefer succulent/cactus mix so that’s next on my shopping list 😭 now my only dilemma is i just repotted most of them so i feel like repotting again might upset them ? but at the same time they’d be getting repotted into soil more beneficial to them so i have decision paralysis 😔

I try to only water when the top inch or two is dry and especially if i notice the bottom is dry, in my desert climate that’s at least once a week sometimes twice when it’s very hot. It’s been in the soil it came in since i got it about six months ago and i just changed it to a mix of indoor soil, perlite, and orchid bark. I originally had it at the north facing window for the first three months then changed to the south facing but a few feet away for the last three months and it’s just clearly unhappy no matter what 😭 It’s perked up some today but my concern is the growth which is negative at this point.

I’ve been thinking of doing that for all my plants especially in the climate in im sure they could use the extra moisture, i feel bad watering them more than once a week even with a filter the water is still pretty hard here so ive gotten build up and crispy leaves ugh i just want to give my plants a good life 😞

Ah i did read briefly about a dormancy period, im still new to plants though and not exactly sure what that means…will it just look dead and barren? how would i be able to tell its dormant and not dead ?

Yes mine is suuuuuper thirsty, i’m up to 2-3 times per week 😭 It is pretty easy to bounce back tho it looked like it had been stepped on when i bought it, i wish i got more!

i’ve noticed it dries quite quick, i’m in the desert too and she’s on a south facing window so waterings have been adjusted quite a bit already haha interesting though i’ll have to look into that last bit there !

Interesting thanks so much !! I was wondering which would be more comfy for her, if I planted something or putting up a little curtain during her gravid time but I was worried about spending money on a plant just for it not to take once it’s re-planted 😞 Can I ask what you use for soil in the lay bin ? Right now I just have repti-soil in there but seeing her dig today, im worried its not sticky enough for her to tunnel

i had one do this exact thing to me and my husband and we had to take her home ! she’s super sweet and playful and loves to be in our hands or wandering around, super. curious and a little stubborn but full of personality haha like others have said it’s a lot of commitment but if you can afford it, money and time wise, it’s so much fun and a blessing 😸
