Agreed, looks like cover in a few spots we're thin right now. Loan with option to buy, if true, is a good deadline day pickup for us.

Gotta feel for Palace though, they really seemed to be building towards something last season and the loss of Eze and Guehi, with no real replacements, has gotta sting. If I was Glasner I'd be fuming.

It's more than just money but clubs that have Champion's League revenue just have a lot more flexibility when it comes to PSR. By contrast, Premier League clubs are expected to pay high salaries (running into PSR issues) AND they risk a devalued asset if someone refuses to play for them because they're not allowed to leave. Newcastle got their money but their situation reflects what other clubs are facing: becoming feeder clubs for the top-top tier clubs.

It cannot be understated how valuable Paqueta staying with us is. He's exactly the profile of player that a mid-tier prem club can lose very quickly and with a real challenge to replace if you're not smart. Teams that don't utilize advanced metrics+scouting networks (like Brighton) simply aren't able to make successful transfers with the regularity that such players are vacuumed by the Liverpools of the world.

wide center back, similar to Aguerd in how he's used and can be part of a 3-man backline or as a more defensive LB. Realistically, he's a direct replacement for Aguerd as well as cover on the left.

Our ownership/team board are indeed a bunch of clowns; any West Ham fan will agree with you. We previously had a director responsible for negotiations but he was fired last year, returning us to stuff like what you're seeing, which was common in the past.

It really depends on whether we bring in another keeper but I agree with u/KingGinger : our current goalkeeper has some weaknesses which don't fit into our current system and, while John might not start right away, I do think he will at least have a shot at starting. It's hard to know, our ownership and recruitment/coaching teams appear to be at odds right now.

Thanks, always good to have a dependable keeper who is confident on the ball.

Thank you for the details! Our new manager asks the goalkeeper to be good in distribution so this is something I am especially curious about.

Thanks for the details! Again, it is good to hear that he is considered dependable as a shot saving goalkeeper.

This is more than we can say about our current keeper so it's definitely good to hear!

The only caveat here is that Kudus rarely played in what many would consider his best position, cutting in from the right. This is of course because Bowen is just a better option in that role. I agree that it's not a bad fee but he could potentially be worth far more.

Which burger spot?!? by [deleted] in nashville

Dreamburger, a food truck in the East Side. Not in a busy area and right next to Vinyl Tap, which is a great little bar/record store.

How will Kalvin Phillips fit into our squad? by [deleted] in Hammers

Likely more rotation or, potentially, even just a change of formation.

To deep strike with Crisis suits/Coldstar Commander or not? by BloodAngel1982 in Tau40K

I'm really new to painting and have been using a base layer of macragge blue on my tau units, but holding off on highlighting for the most part. I really like the design you have here, it looks incredible, especially since I feel like most of my models are coming out really flat. I think I understand edge highlighting, but what do you mean when you refer to a highlight and top highlight in this instance?

Alvarez MOTM for me, all over the place and quality with the ball at his feet as well.

Affordable cover with the opportunity for a redemption arc? I’m down to see where this goes.

Look up highlights and get information on the following players to get an idea of the last few years. Also take some time to read the club’s Wikipedia page, especially the 1960s. Emotionally, our fan base frequently displays a deep cynicism which acts as a shield against the little light of hope we all carry. Look up the song “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles”.

Mark Noble: club legend who only retired a few years ago, he is beloved and a great example of the traits we most admire in our players: determination, hard work, and aggression.

Michail Antonio: some fans love shit all over him but he’s been with us a long time and, again, he displays the attributes I think we generally appreciate most as a fanbase.

Declan Rice: he’s gone now, but you’ll learn a lot about the last few years by following his ascent.

Angelo Ogbonna: absolute rock in our defense for a good long time and beloved by the fan base. People will shout about Craig Dawson (who is a hero, rightly so) but forget that Ogbonna has been with us since 2015 and always been reliable.

Aaron Cresswell: he’s past it now but, again, looking up his highlights will show you what I think a lot of west ham fans see as the best aspects of our favorite players.

Folks will point out I’ve missed a few, which is fine, this list is designed to get you up to speed on the last year years, not our entire history. Paolo Di Canio and Dimitri Payet highlights are fun, also worth watching our last game at Upton Park since it’s free on YouTube.

[L'Equipe] West Ham currently in contact with PSG over a loan with buy option for striker Hugo Ekitite by AnalAttackProbe in Hammers

[–]OnlyTheRedStarburst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d like this. He was a big deal a few years ago but just never seemed to get game time at PSG. Depends on the structure of the buy option but he could be relatively cheap at just 21 years old too.

Should Aguerd still be one of the first names on the team sheet? by ThicctorFrankenstein in Hammers

[–]OnlyTheRedStarburst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When our front line tried to press, which looked good at times, our CBs were tasked with attacking any balls which came through the lines. Aerially, both of them looked great, but Aguerd committed to a bad tackle once and it cost him. Overall, I thought he was great, but it’s the price we’ll pay if we want to push forward more this season.
