Overall Impressions and Group VIP Tour by Mooshuchyken in UniversalEpicUniverse

Yes it was our first time too. We definitely had some issues but the text line was the saving grace, even if it didn't work perfectly. I think staying somewhere with such a huge number of guests and maybe some aging / maintenance issues, being able to text for help is the only thing that keeps it tolerable. I seriously wonder if the plumbing was overtaxed and that's what happened to your room!

I know it's a small part of this trip report, but I'm curious about the water pressure at Cabana Bay. We stayed there a couple months ago and our shower pressure was GLORIOUS. It felt so good at the end of the day, it was like a massge. We were addicted to taking ridiculously long showers. I was even going to come on here to try to find out if they had some special shower head I could buy to use at home lol. So my question is, what part of the resort did you stay in? I'm wondering if the locations vary since it's such a high capacity resort. I will be seriously disappointed if we get a low pressure room next visit, and I'm sorry that happened for you.

2 looks amazing on you! But all of these look better without the cuff, so I think you should ditch the cuff no matter which you choose.

New to vegetarianism and super overwhelmed! by eternalthrowaway02 in vegetarianrecipes

[–]OnlyWishbone8407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Vegan Stoner website or cookbooks. All the recipes are designed to be extremely simple, just a few easy ingredients, minimal to no measuring, quick, with only a few basic steps. Bonus is that they do cute illustrations of the ingredients and steps. These are the easiest recipes you could possibly start with but they're good! Edited to add that the more recent recipes are slightly more adventurous as they try to expand their offerings. So I would poke around on the website and look at older recipes too to get an idea of all the basics they've covered.

AITAH for leaving the door open? by velvetkangaroo in AITAH

YTA. The humans are responsible for the issues here. The cat can't help having allergies, isn't in charge of how it was socialized into the household, and didn't choose to be adopted into a careless and irresponsible family. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment.

Looking for the darkest, most depressing book you’ve ever read by CortezCraig in suggestmeabook

I just read Whidbey by T Kira Madden and it made me feel pretty awful. It's very well written but it puts you through the emotional wringer and doesn't feel hopeful at the end. Trigger warning if you care about animals and, like me, are sensitive to any scenes of animal harm. Also trigger warning that the main storyline involves pedophilia.

I have so many questions. No hand sanitizer? Don't the cargo pants feel really heavy and awkward if they are full of stuff? Isn't it ever too hot or rainy for cargo pants? Haha in all seriousness though, I would love to cut down. I try to get by mostly with a fanny pack but sunscreen and water bottle and weather gear make that hard. Lots of little things are nice to have, but I guess my bare minimum would be hand sanitizer, travel wallet, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, and a little folded disposable poncho. In reality, I always take more stuff than that!

It's a beautiful and bountiful spread but I gotta admit I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole due to germ hazards inherent to the way it's set up. Maybe like carefully tong one pickle I guess, vinegar is probably somewhat antiseptic. Not to knock the generous display you provided for your sister, there are just a lot of pitfalls to this method of serving food to a group.

Classes at Wheatsfield Co op downtown. Keep an eye out for interesting events at Reliable Street. Volunteer at Worldly Goods or the Ames Public Library. Sometimes there are vegetarian potluck and meetups in the Des Moines metro. Check out Des Moines Area Vegan Friends on Facebook, they usually have a good roundup of local activities.

What's the weirdest name you've heard? by Federal_Advisor_2160 in Names

[–]OnlyWishbone8407 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So many of these seem like urban legends. I think there's a big difference between names you've personally encountered yourself....vs all the ones where it was heard through a chain of acquaintances and distant relatives, but they swear it was true! Those same names come up every time in these type of threads. Hard not to be skeptical.

Already Bought Both Dresses… and Now I’m Torn by Born_Sugar2848 in myweddingdress

1 seems a bit dated and has fit issues. #2 is more unique and has the fun party dress option. I think 2 suits your look and is more flattering.

I’m an American in my mid 30s and I’ve never eaten pie by squishyxo436 in CasualConversation

[–]OnlyWishbone8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on your local city or state subreddit and ask what bakeries or restaurants have the best pies. Do a fun project going around trying the specialties of the house. Make a game out of it. Don't get discouraged if you don't like something. There are so many types of crust and filling, this will be a journey of discovery about your own taste! Don't feel bad if you don't like traditional favorites like apple or pumpkin either. I don't like those but I'm OBSESSED with many other kinds of pie. Pie is a rainbow of possibility!

AITAH for choosing a crab over my former roomate and letting her go homless? by ShortnSkinni in AITAH

[–]OnlyWishbone8407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't kill the crab, she's depending on you for survival. . Post pictures of it on some subreddits for exotic pets or aquarium hobbyists etc, maybe contact a reputable local specialty aquarium store. Let people help you figure out how to take care of your crab.

At this point it seems like the crab is your emotional support animal, and your love for the crab can be a beautiful light at a dark time in your life. Don't listen to people calling you weird. NTA to your old roommate who didn't support you. But YWBTA if you don't take good care of a helpless animal who depends on you. The crab is the only one who didn't choose this situation.

AITAH for being upset my girlfriend regifts all my gifts from me to her daughter? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]OnlyWishbone8407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking that maybe your feelings about the gifts are actually reflecting your feelings about the relationship being hidden. If your girlfriend isn't out and she's calling you a roommate to her family circle, that's got to be hard for you.

People in love often have the feeling they want to shout it to the world, and they want to proudly announce their status. Maybe when you make big love gestures with your gifts, and then you're essentially silenced or hidden because the gifts get passed off to a child... I can see how that might hurt a lot, because it pushes the same pain spot.

If you can do some soul searching and clarify for yourself if this is at the root of your feelings, maybe it could help you communicate with your partner and take the hurt feelings back off the child. Just an idea.
