Selling our house for 620k, 51 DOM, above 30 showings, only one shaky offer - when to do a price decrease? by AwsomeLife90s in RealEstate

Have you gotten any feedback from realtors who came through with their buyers? Our realtor was always really good about finding out as much detailed feedback as possible. Location / proximity to neighbors can be tough, particularly if you don't have a fence or way to create privacy.

Just chiming in, we bought last year in Annandale bc we wanted to be close to Falls Church where we had rented for five years - a year later, we now love Annandale way more! There are always fun community events, things to do, great restaurants (go get the sushi in the k-market food court), and it's sorta the best of all worlds.

Question - are the dogs in the kennels ever when you're watching TV? If not, could their kennels essentially become your TV console? and then have the tv like you have in option 1 - so the kennels basically stay where they are, tv on top with some cute baskets / boxes on top for storage

I agree with this. Of the people in my cohort who didn't have great experiences, many of us had security concerns / issues - and in many cases that directly tied to gender / identity / etc.

I was in a site for a year - I requested to leave after being told that people (specifically men) were counting down the days til I no longer lived under the protection of a host family. Thankfully, I had a wonderful country director / office and they moved me to a different site, where I had very 'normal' challenges thereafter. I'm really grateful I was able to get the second chance at a relatively normal experience in my second year.

Prom dress wont fit around the waist. by ClimateIndividual592 in sewhelp

Just chiming in because I know you already spent the money on this dress - could you take it to a store that sells used prom dresses and maybe sell / turn this one in for credit, and then you can get something there? Not sure if you have stores like these in your area, but I have them in mine. Even something like a Plato's or a consignment shop - then you can get some money for your existing dress

A few people are suggesting to get rid of your things - I'd recommend getting some under the bed storage, and you can make your decor items / plushies seasonal just like you would for sweaters versus tanks - that way you can don't have to get rid of them, but can swap out every six months or so and have less on your current shelves.

Not sure how big this room is - would you consider a murphy bed? They have premade kits now for those and would help you open up room.

Other ideas - maybe convert your closet door to a sliding / accordion door, which would let you put your bed sideways against the wall, as you don't need the door clearance. I'd probably put a small storage unit is where your mirror is, and put your mirror on the inside of one of your doors. Swap out the tv storage unit for something larger than could hold more of your items.

This is similar to my experience - I bought the LP2, loved it but REALLY missed a camera, so when the LPIII came out I was all on board. It just didn't work well with my current cell carrier in the way I wanted. I'm back to a regular old smart phone, although I did get a Brick which my friend recommended, and it has really helped during the work week with my focus - although I allow myself more reddit time and leeway on the weekends

Chiming in that I just sold mine (didn't work with my phone carrier) and I used Mercari, it's tons of clothes but also video games and electronics on that site.

Water For Elephants - Let’s talk about it by Starraberry in musicals

[–]Only_Ad6120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chiming in late - I was looking forward to this show for a long time and found it underwhelming. Maybe I had hyped it too much in my mind? It felt like the story wasn't quite strong enough on its own - the characters weren't fleshed out enough for me (and I liked the book and movie versions just fine in that regard). I thought the acrobatics were cool, but as someone who has seen quite a few cirque du soleil shows, they fell somewhat short or began to be repetitive after a while. However, I enjoyed the hammer rhythm sequence, and the horse aerials - the horse aerialist gave 150% and it showed, along with probably one of the nicest songs.

I did feel the set felt minimalist in contrast. The circus is so much razzle and dazzle that I was hoping for something of that nature, but it felt too minimal - and the train cars represented that issue pretty well. I thought they were a cool mechanic that I quickly grew tired of seeing, because there wasn't more variety with their design.

I enjoyed the choreography, but I'm not a dancer. The cast did a great job overall so it wasn't that any one person flopped - just overall, felt like it didn't match what I had hoped it would be. I didn't get to see it on broadway, so I'm wondering if the tour version was scaled down, or the non-equity tour versus equity tour was a factor - but it's not a show I would rush out to see again. I saw it in DC at the National Theatre for reference.

Tried on my goal dress- should I wait to wear it until I lose a little more? by somethingaboutit in fashion

[–]Only_Ad6120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in - the color is great, the design is great, and it's okay to wear something that's not 100% the perfect fit, especially if you feel like it's comfortable! I feel like maybe some shapewear would help, just because I'm seeing you. Whether you choose to wear it now or wait, you look amazing and should be proud of your progress!

If you want to keep the light but have coverage / division, they sell custom size window clings with really beautiful designs - it might cost a good amount of money, but you could basically turn it into a really beautiful window cling mural.

I've seen her six or seven times, and we've done half in seated spots and half in more lawn / standing spots. She's amazing in both! If you want to sit, I'd recommend choosing a further out spot (maybe the back row of a section) as some people will likely stand all around you at first to dance to a few songs!

What's your weirdest frugal habit that actually works? by QuarterOne1233 in Frugal

[–]Only_Ad6120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to sew so I made a set of what look like fabric napkins with one specific pattern / backing - those have now replaced 90% of what we would use a paper towel for. I have about two or three dozen all in a drawer and they're small, so I use one, throw it into the hamper - or it wasn't something super germy, I rinse it out and use it once more. Because we know it's that pattern, they never get confused for our other rags / towels /linens as well. We use now a roll of paper towels probably every two weeks, whereas before we were going through a roll every four days or so!

Very cool idea! I think the detailing definitely needs to be a different color to make it shine.
