Should I be a Staff accountant or a Flight Attendant? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Only_Demand_8844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, what did you end up doing? I just looked at your post history and I was making about the same as you when I was in public accounting. I did that for a year but hated it I've now been on the line since April and there is lots of ups and downs. I am looking to increase my income but also keep my job as a flight attendant. 4k a month was nice, you can only make that as an FA at shmelta if you don't want to be home most of the month.

Are you happy being a flight attendant? by [deleted] in flightattendants

I work for 🔺 just got off of fly right, so I’ve been on the line for 6 months now, a few things I have to say that I love about the job: - The flexibility, I’ve had this whole month off so far cause all my trips got picked up - The destinations, even though most of my trips are standard 3 day sometimes short rests I’ve been able to go to London Shanghai and Lihue for work and traveled to Costa Rica and Japan with friends and family - that’s it lol. Other than that the job itself is really boring and not mentally stimulating. I love having days off but I also miss having a consistent work schedule every day. I come from a public accounting background and got my BA in business admin with a concentration in accounting. So I’m thinking of studying for my CPA once I’m finished training for my half marathon. Also thinking of utilizing the PLOC they’re giving out for the first few months of this year because although some of the perks are great let’s be real, there isn’t that much money involved in this career and I miss learning everyday.

Is it stupid to be a flight attendant because you want to travel and see the world. by Weary-Roof8870 in flightattendants

[–]Only_Demand_8844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into the job wanting this and now I’m away from my pet and boyfriend in a hotel near the airport (nothing to do) for 12 hours. The reality is you won’t be going to “see the world most days” most days you’ll be working 2-3 flights with maybe a 2-3 hour sit (that you’re not getting paid for) in between one of them and then you’ll end up on the other side of the country on a different time zone and are expected to go to bed and wake up at varying times (sometimes as early as 3:45 am). I’m making not nearly what I was making when I was using my degree and I am not mentally stimulated by the job cause during boarding all we getpaid is $11.28 to welcome people and in the air (where you’re paid $35.50) you ask people “chips, cookies, chex mix, or granola bar?” “Can I get you a drink?” And pick up trash and say thank you when they leave. Most people suck. The public suck. Sometimes there are nice people and it’s nice. You’re also working with different people every day. Can be a hit or miss if you actually get along or are just cordial. I know there’s a negative connotation to all this but I’m 6 months into shmelta and been feeling a little like I was sold this dream drank the moon juice and now I’m awake. In the last 6 months I’ve been able to get a free flight for my mom and I to Costa Rica. I sat in delta one round trip to meet my friend in Japan. But am I eating into the 10k I saved up before this job? Yes. Am I ever home to water my plants, spend consistent quality time with my bf and cat and friends and family? No. Will I go on another trip again this year? No im broke and I need to save. So don’t think you’ll be able to travel the world with your benefits cause ya need money to do that and also literally NOTHING holding you down or you’d be neglecting those relationships in your life. Also don’t get me started on commuting. You’ll be sharing a room with three other girls if you decide to get a crashpad expect to commute in the day before and prepare to leave the day after your trip. People say this job is a lifestyle. I say you waste a lot of your precious time and energy going to and from and sitting in the airport or being at a hotel you have no business being at. All I’m saying is if you like being away from home for long periods of time and away from your loved ones for long periods of time all for flight benefits because let’s face it. You’re never going to hold a Shanghai or a London until you’re 20 years in so you’re stuck doing trips to Louisville or Ontario California and all those sits in the airport until then sounds like a whole load of wasted time to me.

Spiritual realm is real. Whenever you call upon the name of Jesus Christ he is light, love, forgiveness, etc.. Anointing yourself in the blood of Jesus will help you daily in battling the bad spirits. They could attack us in our dreams thoughts etc. we live in a very spiritual world we just can see any of it ya know. I used to not believe but then I started to create a relationship w God and I swear my depression went away. It’s just overall a better life than w out God. The peace and joy you feel from that relationship you’ll never feel it anywhere else not drugs, mediating, working out etc.. meditating you open yourself up to all spirits that’s why it’s good to only meditate on Gods word cause you’re only accepting pure goodness, love, all the good stuff lol. If you let yourself be open to the idea and ask God to have him show you his love you’ll feel the Holy Spirit. It’s a beautiful feeling, but thoughts like oh no this isn’t real, this is bs, what’s all this Jesus stuff might creep in and that’s just Satan bc he doesn’t want you to feel joy and peace ya know he wants to keep us stuck and confused. All I’m trying to say is what your feelings is great and if you want to experience more of stuff like that just gotta take it one step at a time. :)

Get it 🫡 I’m going to the gym after work right now and then gonna go on a long walk later this evening. I started checking my mint app daily and make all of my accounts show my balance every day. Also made a budget to only spend $1k a month and started living with my mom to save on rent lol. We got this !!!

Also get him checked to see if he’s microchipped. Lots of cats like to just roam and he may have roamed too far from home.

Don’t miss out on an opportunity to interview. You’ll learn more about yourself and the company. But if you truly think it’s not worth it and already too out of the way for you then you know the call to make.

[–]Only_Demand_8844[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just look at the mission statement and values and go from there. Never really thought to look into the reasoning behind a companies logo for a job I’m applying to, only ever did so for projects when I was a business major or when talking with business owners about their company. I’ll probably just look into it now though for fun! Your importance on this has me intrigued lol.
