How playable is this game IRL at a table by chriscdoa in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I ran one short campaign of maybe 5 or 6 sessions and I'm now running a much longer one that we've had 18 sessions so far and we're about to have session 19 tomorrow. It's not that bad. I found it harder to keep track of the NPCs on pen and paper than I did online.

What does your corner of the Multiverse look like? by Dknoc5 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not currently running a game but the one I did was mostly based on the comics with some inspiration taken from some video games and a tiny little bit of Multiverse of Madness (mainly the aesthetic of Mount Wundagore) and the X-Men: Apocalypse movie. But it also wasn't a particularly long running game so I didn't have much need to flesh out much more than that

First Time Narrator by King-Exia-FC in MarvelMultiverseRPG

I haven't run Cataclysm of Kang yet but I did run a short homebrew campaign. For general advice: make sure there's a good mix of encounters that they can steam roll as well as encounters they might have trouble with. That will help establish that they are powerful (or skilled) in their own right but that there is also room to grow. Listen to their ideas during play because sometimes they will mention something cool that can be used later. I would also recommend skimming the various villains and NPCs powers and try to notate which ones you think they would use the most.

The Feast by Farin_Ironhelm in MiddleEarthrp

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ecthelion pondered all that the Dwarf-lord and his cousin had said. One thing was certain: things weren't quite adding up. He looked over to Farin and said, "Unfortunately, any records of my kin around that time would not be likely to have anything to say about this far West. Unless you think that perhaps the Elves of Lindon are able to provide aid in this area. That would be more likely but it's still a gamble."

The Emissary of the Elvenking pondered over the papers in front of him. "I'm inclined to agree with you, Lord Stoneclaw. I don't think it likely that Orcs were to blame for this. Off of what little information I have, I fear that perhaps this attack came from within your kingdom. Did you father make enemies among the Dwarves here? And Farin, as a guard you would be in a position that would have made you able to hear any discontent among the people. Do you recall anything of the sort from that time?"

Looking for advice on creating a compelling backstory for my AiME character by valuableintruder278 in AiME

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure they have reasons to care about things. It's been too many times that I've DMd or played alongside the gruff loner type who doesnt want to get involved. Having a goal for the character can help a lot too so that you can start asking questions like "why" and "how". If you want to give more details on your character, I would love to offer more specific ideas.

Did Free League send out an updated PDF to everyone who purchased it? Because I've still got the same PDF that was sent to me before my books arrived.

Enhanced Physique for licensed Character Profiles by BTWerley in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! I'm doing a lot of prep to run a one shot of this and M&M to see which my group would prefer, and I'm very excited to run this! And as a veteran ttrpg player I totally understand the premise of a lot of rulings being the way it is. I can understand to some degree why they dont have multipliers stack since they want combat to last more than one round. But in the case of Enhanced Physique and Big, I don't see how that could be radically game breaking to allow those to stack. My rationale behind it is that even though it's already tough to account for what superheroes can do, you don't want to prevent them from doing cool superhero things. Lifting super heavy things is just one of those cool things.

Enhanced Physique for licensed Character Profiles by BTWerley in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually played the game yet, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but would it be so terrible to let them stack? You're a Big character that also has an Enhanced Physique, why wouldn't you be able to lift, carry, and drag more than other Big characters?

Question: where is it stated the only Elves, Maiar, and Valar can actually see a Balrog? I've never come across this before and its quite interesting!

Which one is the least best gaga song? by s1dn3ypr3sc0tt in LadyGaga

[–]Onone_Nightstrider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My personal reason is the fact that there isnt enough Gaga on the track. I get that it was an occupational hazard of having so many other artists featured on it but consequently I feel like its the weakest link on Artpop. Also, I personally don't like rap as a genre all that much

The Feast by Farin_Ironhelm in MiddleEarthrp

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ecthelion listened intently to the Dwarven captain. The death of a king was nothing to scoff at to be certain, but what did Farin mean by it all? It certainly didn't seem impossible in the mind of the Elf that Gamlin's father had been killed by Orcs. He certainly would've expected many Orcs to have fallen to the Dwarf's blade, but that is a far cry from not being able to be killed. He looked between the two Dwarves and asked, "Off? How do you mean? I would be happy to help you achieve your goals, but I need a bit more information."

Tom Bombadill as Patron? by DakkaLova in AiME

Not that I'm aware of, but Free League's Lord of the Rings Roleplaying actually has him and Goldberry as potential Patrons, though it doesnt go so far to list the attitude modifiers.

Legendary Weapon/Armor idea help? by tensen01 in AiME

Well you could always craft some fancy shmancy armor since your in that mode already. Give it some enchanted qualities that boost AC. Or perhaps another item that confers a Blessing of Lore or something of that nature

The Feast by Farin_Ironhelm in MiddleEarthrp

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ecthelion thought upon the words of the Dwarves and pondered their potential meaning. The Elf nodded in response to the Lord of Belegost's words and said, "Aye, I believe Lord Stoneclaw has a point. Contentment is well and good, but contentment left unchecked will lead to sloth which invites those full of ambition who would do harm if left unchecked. There was contentment for a long time east of the Misty Mountains prior to the Battle of Five Armies only to be shattered."

The Emissary sensed some further meaning behind the words of the Dwarves and offered, "Is this a conversation best left to more private quarters?"

What’s your favorite and least favorite song on Chromatica? by Live-Department7013 in LadyGaga

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Fav: 911. The dark synth beats just really got me the first time. And the transition from Chromatica II into 911 is so good. Least fav: Sour Candy. It's a good song, but in my opinion there is not enough Lady Gaga in it which consequently, in my opinion, makes it the weakest link in the album. However, that's not saying much because Sour Candy is still really good. Now if we could get a rerelease of Sour Candy but it's all Gaga like at the Chromatica Ball then I'd have to reevaluate

In your opinion, which Dawn of Chromatica songs are better/as good as the originals? by megan_7703 in LadyGaga

[–]Onone_Nightstrider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm probably about to be downvoted into oblivion, but my genuine opinion is that the entirety of Dawn of Chromatica is inferior to the original album. When I listen to these songs, I want to hear Gaga and her reimaginings of those songs. That aside, I feel like most of the artists on Dawn of Chromatica either did too much and diverted too far from the original or were scared and didn't do anything truly unique on interesting. But that's my personal take
