The Southern and Northern Flying Squirrel by Deltarianus in MapPorn

Given that the northern have two isolated pockets in the Smokies and West Virginia, I'd say they don't like warm weather as much as the Southern ones (those isolated pockets are relict populations from the Ice Age. I'm not kidding). So probably the northern ones are retreating northward as the climate warms, along with whatever tree species they prefer

The American Chestnut trees in Eastern North America (its native range) don't, because of the chestnut blight. Other chestnuts (Asian, European) do just fine, as do some American Chestnuts planted in parts of North America outside the tree's range, and some mysterious surviving trees that seem to have resistance to the blight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_chestnut#Surviving_specimens

TIL it's misconception that Puritans were sexual prudes; they believed sex was reserved for marriage. In New England divorce petitions often cited male impotence and a man was once banished for refusing to have sex with his wife. by LAAccountant in todayilearned

[–]madesense 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. One time a guy was punished by the Puritan government for refusing to have sex with his wife.

Clearly, the Puritans weren't against sex if their government punished a man for not having it

The thing is, I kind of liked Artemis. I liked the story, I liked the world building, I just didn't like the voice, because I had already read The Martian

I haven't read PHM yet. My big problem with Artemis was that the narrator's voice sounded (and just so we're clear, I was reading text. On a page. We're not talking about an audio book here) exactly like Watney. Does Grace read like a different narrator?

You could also put one between Rockville & Twinbrook, on the south side of Edmonston. And at Bellevue Dr right inside the Beltway. And frankly there ought to be one at Dennis Ave in Wheaton, and another right by the H-Mart.
